Bernardo Kastrup often uses this analogy of a dashboard on an airplane to explain how our physical senses (seeing, touching, tasting, hearing, smelling) may not be showing us reality as it actually is. Our physical senses merely evolved to help us survive, but they did not necessarily evolve to convey reality as it actually is.
