Ahhh I think it depends because the timelines for prequel books, especially recent novellas, screw up the timeline established in the first few super editions (like Bluestar’s Prophecy, Crookedstar’s Promise, and Tallstar’s revenge.)
Tallstar hears about Crookedkit’s accident several moons after returning from his journey, making him older than both Crookedstar and Bluestar, and therefore MUCH older than Tigerclawstar.
I’d say that Pinestar meeting young Jake has to be a mistake in the more recent novellas, or a retcon that hugely changes the ages of the original leaders.
hey warrior cat side of tumblr, i need to know if any of u have the answer to this: are jake, tallstar, and oakstar near the same age? bc i know tallstar and jake are, the wiki says they met when tallstar was talltail, but i dont know about oakstar and i dont know how old any 3 of them are/were. it’s for a possible au that might fail if im wrong with my presumptions.

THISTHISTHIS.
It’s really frustrating to see him act like a jerk, especially to squilf. He loved his parents so much.
i can’t believe i’m gonna say this
but tpons ruined lionblaze’s established character. not with the fact he thinks too much with his claws, or that he’s not ready to be leader, no those are consistent with who he is (though i think wanting to kill shadowsight as a bit much)
no i’m talking about the fact that he would turn on squirrelflight so easily. he was the first one to forgive her, the first one to treat her with civility. he knows about her and ashfur’s relationship, he saw first hand how ashfur washed to burn him and his siblings alive just to hurt squirrelflight. he should know of all cats that running away to help ashfur is the last thing a cat like squirrelflight would do
and yet his wife, his daughter and his younger half sister need to call him out to make him see sense.

I love how gender neutral warrior cats names are. Like sure we as readers are gonna associate “soft” names like Blossom- or -flower as feminine names because stereotypes but these cats don’t need to care. Bloomheart, Fernsong, and Littlecloud are all canonical tom names while Sandstorm, Mossfire, and Needleclaw are she-cats and no characters ever bat an eye.
I don’t really have a huge point to this, it just makes me happy.

“This is your chance, Brambleclaw! Kill him!”
Brambleclaw flinched slightly at Hawkstar’s order. The tom stood over Firestar, the ginger tabby writhing in pain as the fox trap tightened around his throat. His green eyes were pleading.
“This is all part of Tigerstar’s plan. With two of us, it will be easier for our sisters to gain power, too.”
Brambleclaw dug his claws into the ground, his heart pounding. Firestar was his mentor, his leader, Squirrelflight’s father. He held a deep fondness for him, even if he craved the power the ginger tom held. “I-I...I,” he stammered.
Hawkstar’s eyes narrowed to slits. “Are you doubting our father? he hissed. “We have great plans for the forest. He, and I, and you, and our sisters. Don’t you want to be part of them anymore?” His gaze softened for an instant. “Don’t you want to help me?”
“Of course I do!” Brambleclaw cried. “You’re my kin!”
“Then do it now!” Hawkstar meowed, stepping over Firestar’s shuddering body to stand beside Brambleclaw. “Kill him. You’re deputy now. This is what we’ve waited for.”
Taking a breath, Brambleclaw stepped forward, meeting the gaze of the dying tom for a moment. Then, he reached down and pulled the stake from the ground.
The pressure around Firestar’s neck loosened instantly and visibly. Firestar took a gasping breath, coughing and hacking as though he had been held under the lake.
“What are you doing?” Hawkstar yowled. Brambleclaw glanced to see his fur bristling, eyes alight with rage that so resembled their father’s.
He looked back down at Firestar. The ginger tom was looking at he and his brother, his eyes wide and afraid. Brambleclaw recognized that fear. It was how the leader had looked at his father. It was how he had looked at him for so many moons.
“Brambleclaw,” he rasped. “Please.”
Anger filled his chest. Did Firestar really trust him so little? He had already pulled the stake from the ground. Why did he now beg for his life?
“You’ll be exiled now, Brambleclaw,” Hawkstar hissed. “There’s no trust left in his heart for you. You must kill him.”
Brambleclaw dropped the stake, ignoring Hawkstar’s alarmed cry. “You’re begging for your life,” Brambleclaw hissed, crouching down so that he was mere whiskers from his leader’s face. “Do you really trust me so little? After I already pulled the stake from the ground?”
Firestar’s wide eyes searched his, desperate. “Brambleclaw, I-“
“He’s never trusted you!” Hawkstar spat. “Kill him, Brambleclaw, there’s still time!”
“You’ve always looked at me and saw my father.” Brambleclaw’s tail lashed.
“No!” Firestar tried to shake his head, but despite the stake being pulled, the cord still tightened around his neck at the movement.
“You even named me after him!” He dug his claws into the dirt. “Well, I suppose your distrust was warranted, Firestar.”
Before the leader could say a word, Brambleclaw had grabbed the stake again. The ginger tom tried to scramble away for an instant, but it was too late. Brambleclaw speared the sharp end into Firestar’s throat.
His leader made a horrible choking sound, attempting to pull away from his assailant. Brambleclaw allowed it, letting go of the stake so that it stayed lodged in Firestar’s neck. Firestar fell back, clawing at the dirt as though he could keep his hold on the world if he fought hard enough. His writhing grew weaker and weaker, until he reached the shore of the lake. He twitched lightly, but he seemed to know that the fight was over.
The crimson of his blood swirled in the gentle waves of the water, turning it red. The ginger tom took a last, gasping breath, before he stilled completely. The great Firestar was gone.
“Well done, Brambleclaw,” Hawkstar purred, padding up beside his brother and placing his tail on his flank. “You have claimed your rightful place.”
“He was my mentor,” Brambleclaw meowed quietly.
“Only so that he could watch and make sure you stayed in line,” Hawkstar pointed out. “It doesn’t matter now. You’ll be leader. Ashfur will be your deputy.”
“Ashfur?”
“Who do you think helped me lead him out here?” Hawkstar asked. “He already agreed to accept it, if you should choose him. Though I doubt there would be someone else.”
For a brief instant, Brambleclaw thought of Squirrelflight, but quickly dashed that away. She was just like her father. She didn’t trust him, either, even if he had loved her.
“No,” he said. “There’s no one.”
“Then clean your paws and pull the stake out of his neck,” Hawkstar ordered. “We can’t have your Clan thinking that he was killed on purpose. They know the traps are dangerous anyway.”
My Clan, Brambleclaw repeated in his head. Yes. Mine.

I believe it mentions that Crowpaw was close to receiving his warrior name when they left on the journey, so I’d say he should at least be interpreted as a 17-ish year old around that time
Hey there! Im not exactly new to warriors, but i am new to all of the books after Into the wild, and just started TNP Book 4. Whats your thoughts on the couples Dustpelt/Ferncloud, Brambleclaw/Squrrielflight, and Feathertail/Crowfeather? Personally i dont.. like them, not bc m/f pairing but the age differences, im still not clear if Crowfeather was even old enough for Feathertail
dustfern is probably one of my favourite canon ships because of how pure they are. they just love each other and their kits, that’s pretty much all they do!! i hate that even with the recent retcons dustpelt is still ferncloud’s uncle but i’m ignoring that because it’s bs thank you very much. also yeah it can be weird to think about how dust was fern’s brother’s mentor but it’s not like he started dating her at that time. they only got together when fern was a warrior. things in the text that could be read as dust feeling romantic towards fern while she was an apprentice honestly don’t strike me that way tbh. her mentor was darkstripe ofc she felt safer around dustpelt.
i’ve made my opinions on bramblesquirrel pretty clear but yeah absolutely do not like. squilf needs to break up with her husband. like properly not just because of circumstances that.. technically made them break up right now. i’d even say it’s an abusive relationship because that’s backed up a lot by canon. he treats her badly consistently and he’s had power over her for pretty much all of their relationship.
feathertail and crowfeather is. it’s a weird relationship to me? it’s like spottedleaf and fireheart where their mutual affection happened when one of them was dead. i do believe feathertail did have feelings for crowpaw near the end, and that crowfeather genuinely did love feathertail. some say it’s a one sided relationship and it can seem that way at the beginning but. feathertail dies to save crowfeather from sharptooth. she cares about his well being after she’s gone and loves his kits as if they’re her own.

I’ve actually written the scene where Hawkfrost kills Mudclaw for this AU(and posted it if you’re interested in reading it) ! And I do like the idea of Tawny becoming deputy legitimately, I was thinking maybe she could like drive Blackstar out when he’s having the whole Sol issue going on. So she’s not doing anything wrong per say but she’s doing it under Tiger’s influence so that’s not great
for the anon about having all four of tigers kids be the leaders of the clans : i really like that concept!! i do have an idea (sorta) for you though. so tawny doesnt necessarily have to be evil i dont think. assuming she still joins shadowclan i think its very plausible for her to be a deputy. i do think her training in the df can be cool tho! as for moth i dont rlly have an idea for her but i’d be excited to what you end up coming up with :)
yeah
and i guess for windclan mudclaw wins and makes hawkfrost deputy and hawkfrost kills him and becomes windclan’s leader

how to speedrun warrior cats
Or… at least how i decided to get into warrior cats without reading any of the 40+ books.
1: watch the SSS warrior cats fan animated series: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL26112E48392C500F
2: binge moonkitti’s “i spoil warrior cats for everybody”: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgApXEfSTe4_uLW2LyjlNJbnbNtScQ7pZ
(You prob wont remember most of it but its still fun)
3: binge the podcast “Warrior Cats What Is That”: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/anchor-podcasts/warrior-cats-what-is-that
(The podcast is also available on spotify and itunes etc. i love this podcast and its def the one that goes through the books briefly but they make sure to include enough stuff to get you emotionally invested.)
