uwu well kata spent all her day off recovering from work and not doing anything productive, but that’s okay!  I'm proud of myself for sticking around for the full shift both nights!

so hopefully this weekend, i will be able to do allll the things i wanted to do.  including drawing [mystery boi] a whole bunch!

I finally got Grillby’s concept for Storm the Sorrow done!  

He’s still in training as a recruit when he’s first introduced to the story.  Although, you might not recognize him when he does come in.  I think the name “Grillby” sounds a bit too modern for the time period (and yet I have skeletons named after fonts not invented until like 1992 but still!), so I’ve been calling him Ignatius.  xD Sounds like something a medieval fire elemental would be named.  

Once he proves himself on a traveling mission with Calibri, Asgore, Toriel, and Gaster, he is officially inducted into the guard and given official armor.  I really like what I did with his armor set.  I debated on giving him full metal armor, like Calibri has, but I had the funny idea that putting someone made of fire in a metal suit would just make him an oven xD

So, he has light armor!  There’s some metal in the cuirass portion and his shoulder spaulders/pauldrons, tassets, and vambraces all have iron edges on them.  But most of his armor is a blend of leather and wool.  

His pre-armor clothes look a little tattered only because I’m sure they’re specially made for fire elementals and maybe expensive to replace?  So they just repair them.  His main reason for joining the guard was to make better money and support his family (mostly his mom and sisters), and he isn’t much of a fighter.  He could still flame grill your butt, tho.  

Since he’s not that big on fighting, he carries a parma shield and relies on fire and orange magic if he needs to.

I also believe that Elemental is one of those ‘unspoken languages’ that Skeletons just naturally understand.  And while Grillby can speak common (it’s just kind of difficult), it’s also not unusual that he’s able to understand Gaster’s font.  Although, Gaster was not expecting that. (he said so many bad things in front of Grillbz lmao)

I think this is the last major concept page for StS I’ll do for a while.  Maybe Gerson, eventually.

kata has not been working on the concepts she should be.  i’ve been working on spoilery things that likely don’t have anything to do with what you think they do but are part of one of the most important scenes in the sequel xD

I love how you did the flames, the colors are blending so nicely :D and the eyes are amazing! it's so rare to see them like this in the fandom :D I love them too :D (aside from the armor which obviously is awesome :3 ) I can't wait to read both stories and see more of your work in general but take a rest when you need it or simply want to :D

Thank you so much for the compliments dear!  I think I can have a lot of fun playing with Grillbys expression, since his face lacks a lot of obvious details.  

I also had a lot of fun with the concept of his armor since my brain won’t let me make non-functional armor for some reason.  Like, do you give a fire elemental metal armor?  What if someone touches the metal and gets burned?  What if he sits in a chair and then the chair is on fire and he’s like “…oh.  my apologies.”

Obviously he’s magic and his clothes don’t catch on fire, but I just thought that’d be an interesting concept to play around with.  Maybe the generic guard armor isn’t usually made with fire-resistant magic built in.  More on that later.

I can’t wait to show you guys this world I’ve built for the past year <3  Ideally, I should be able to start posting some of the full fics soon!  The prequel isn’t too bad on the weird tags, and I’d like to start posting drabbles from Red’s backstory but uh, that one will be a mess to tag properly.  I just need a title for the main fic that isn’t stupidly long (although the placeholder is growing on me)

Rest is very important!  You don’t wanna burn yourself out, I’ve learned that over the years xD  But I also have no life other than my job and this so like, \o/ worldbuilding go!  :D
