they're called human rights because you get them by being human. No ifs no buts. Everyone gets them. Yes even those people

A gay makeup artist from Venezuela who entered the U.S. legally last year only to be deported to El Salvador’s notorious prison for gang members in March says he was sexually assaulted by guards during his 125-day stay, according to a harrowing account he shared with The Washington Post.
Andry Hernández, whose brutal journey through the U.S. immigration system has been widely documented by the media and human rights groups, says that prison officers at El Salvador’s Terrorism Confinement Center, or CECOT, took him to an isolation cell, where four officers put their clubs between his legs and one forced him to perform oral sex on him.

Of course. If the robots overheat and die, replacing the robots costs extra money. But if the humans overheat and die, replacing the humans doesn't cost extra money.

hey guys just here to say that the new online safety act in the uk has blocked the suicide hotline

this is extremely problematic for very obvious reasons and i have no idea what the fuck this country is fucking coming to
childline has also been restricted
if you're a uk citizen and still haven't signed the petition please do so
even if you're not a uk citizen please reblog to spread the word !!!!!
this isn't safety, it's censorship

Poor people are not "bad with money".
Poor people have to constantly find a way to survive with the pittance they have. Poor people are excellent with money.
Meanwhile, rich people buy stocks with money they don't have and sell stocks they don't own, and are then bailed out when they fail. Rich people are beyond shitty with money and are just privileged enough to have unlimited chances.

People still tend to lump JK Rowling in with the category of ~problematic artists~ and I need everyone to understand that is not the problem with her. She is not comparable to anyone who wrote a piece of fiction you hate, or someone who made rude comments in 2015 and has since learned better.
She is far more like Elon Musk. She is a radicalized person with an extreme amount of social and financial power, and for YEARS she has been using that power to try to influence her government into hurting vulnerable people, on purpose. And she has succeeded. THAT is the problem with her, and THAT is why spending money on her books is so dangerous, not because her books aged badly.
Critiquing her work is fine, of course (I personally was never a fan so I really don’t care) but you NEED to understand that fiction is not the main issue here. And I truly think acting like she’s the same as the rest of any giant list of ~problematic creators of the week~ waters down how dangerous she is.

Soooooo some more news on this hellscape we call earth. Wikimediq is refusing to comply with the uk online safety law and is in a court case with the uk government.

Last I checked the uk petition to repeal this law hit the 100k milestone so they'll have to discuss in parliament. Keep signing/sharing to bring that number up higher.
