hi im curious abt the junior sharks thing? and the mack giving will a golden state hoodie? whats that about

hi!! so back in january of this past season (i believe it was 1/12? anyone pls correct if i’m wrong) will was benched for a game. the very next day (1/13), mack and will were spotted at a junior sharks game! they read the starting lineup and skated around with some of the kids. in the photos, will is wearing a golden state warriors hoodie. now we don’t know for sure if it’s actually mack’s or if it’s a new hoodie he got for him. but either way it’s very sweet and romantique imo!!

inchresting to me to think about the fact that even if mack does visit will for #bostongirlsummer or even if they do train together in san jose or vancouver or wherever, it's honestly pretty likely that we'll end up finding out from toff or warso or cat or someone casually dropping the info on a pod or in an interview, or like a summer insta dump two months after the fact. the way that both of them are so private about eo, especially mack but also will, who apparently has all these tiktok drafts that he really could post whenever, mack wouldnt mind, yet he doesnt. their friendship isnt performative, it's not for a media circus, it's not meant for anybody but the two of them, just two boys shooting hoops and giggling together.

like will knows mack content is viral content. he could be reposted by every sports account on the internet every week if he wanted to, but he doesn’t want to. he’s selective. he’s protective. he’s like yeah i could post that video of mack snoring on my chest but that’s mine actually. we wouldn’t even know they were planning to move in together if toff hadn’t said so or if brodie hadnt asked specifically. they’re not hiding it they’re just like “this belongs to us and that’s enough.” they said privacy is the most romantic thing on earth.

and like. it’s so crazy because these are two of the most watched boys alive right now - young faces of the franchise, the rebuild, the country, etc etc - but the actual meat of their friendship, the real core of it, no one ever gets to see, that's just for them. they don’t perform it. they don’t offer it up. will could be putting out curated soft launches on insta every other week, he has the footage for sure. like there is a nonzero chance there is a video somewhere of mack feeding will a choc chip cookie in a hotel in winnipeg and we’re never gonna see it. we will die never seeing it. 

it’s privacy out of reverence. like they know how good they have it. they know it's not just another goofy league bromance to mine for likes. it’s not a highlight package. it’s home. it’s two boys whispering across hotel beds. it’s getting knocked out of a tournament and flying to a different country just to sit in a cafe next to someone who makes the world feel normal again. it’s will making media people ask mack dumb stats questions because he thinks it’ll make him laugh. it’s a million stupid inside jokes and summer plans and facetime calls and unsent reels and maybe, possibly, that hotel cookie video that we’ll never get but know exists anyway.

mack loses to denmark - denmark!! - and he lands in stockholm and he’s spotted at a coffee shop with will within the day. no cool-off period, no reflection, just: L + ratio + i need to see my guy immediately. the plane is probably still taxiing and he’s texting will “where are you. no like exactly. drop a pin.” the second the buzzer sounds on what may arguably be one of the most embarrassing losses in years for mack, the only place he wants to be is within arm’s reach of will. no media availability. no decompressing with family. no regrouping with sidcros or natemac or any of the other dozens of childhood heros he could look to to make him feel better, just: “how fast can i get to where will is.” like yeah maybe we’re just friends and maybe i’m just ignoring sidney crosby in a different country because i want to be around you when i’m sad. maybe i’m just sitting at your table pulling at the sleeve of your hoodie until you hand me half your cookie. maybe that’s just how we do things.
