Linktober Day 1 & 2: Mirror & Friend/Companion

I've had the idea for this stuck in my head since I played Wind Waker for the first time a few years ago!! When I saw these two prompts next to each other?? it was meant to be. I LOVE Medli, and I love the Earth Temple. I watched theory vids about these statues (redeads??). Making their eyes the mirrors was a fun puzzle mechanic to navigate with my girl, but also C'MON this just screams "welcome to spooky season" to me hehehe. I had fun with this one!

Sharing my sketches, my original attempt at a concept of this piece I happened to make last summer, and more thoughts under the cut:

It's hard for me to put a piece down when things aren't working out the way I'd like--so this was a great chance for me to reflect and see how learning and practicing more over the last year helped me figure out how I wanted to make this work.

I'm really happy with how this turned out, I put a lot of hours into it--which is sorta the antithesis of the Linktober? but I had a lot of fun. Perspective is quite hard to practice and I have more to learn.

I'm also very inspired by the artist Laenarraa lately, I love their style and I've been having a good time playing with halftones in the background of my works!

Finally, a bonus: this video that's one of my top Wind Waker moments lol.
