I confess that I have very specific headcanons about hetalia physical characteristics or sexual proclivities. England's ass is flat but surprisingly toned, the wiry fucker is strong. France's hips curvy and womanly which balances his shoulders, Canada's dick is the biggest, Russia has the biggest ass, America is the best at oral, Hong Kong is surprisingly hung, china masters sex as an art. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but these small things make it fun for me.

romano in my most honest opinion is the single most infuriatingly boring character there is and power to the people who has him as a fave

personally I will never understand him as a concept beyond the canon portrayal of his difficult personality and never have I come across any interpretation that does him justice be it in fanfiction or roleplay writing

in the latter, I've met so many muns that tend to over exaggerate a self-victimising aspect for him and making him cry woe is me every second, it's frustrating to write with when he throws a tantrum every ten seconds over the smallest things

even in the series both comic and anime that's all I've ever seen of him like is this fr y'all's man

Hot take possibly but hetalia isn't meant to be "good". It's silly and it's basic, it's for fun more than anything else. The show isn't good, objectively. There's a reason it's 'cringe' and gets judged. The characters are poorly made and lack depth. And all of that is FINE! Something doesn't have to be objectively good for you to enjoy it. You can enjoy canon or you can make your own works in spite of canon, it's literally up to you. People who love hetalia canon, and people who love the concept of hetalia but dislike canon (mainly bc of wasted potential) are both super valid.

why is exploring how a Nation is quite literary a personification of nationalism interesting for you guys only when it's about the empires, who's nationalism is just straight up expanison every time. Do NOT get me started on GerIta.

They MIGHT, in canon in fanon, or humanverse or nationverse, be the ONLY fascinating ship. Mother of ALL ships. The IT couple throughout all decades. Name me one trope/theme they can't do well?

They can do it allll: opposites attract, grumpy x shunshine, childhood lovers, enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, not-so-subtle pining slow burn, love at first sight passion, smut, fluff, historical, modern, futuristic. These two set the bar so extremly high. I cannot take interest in any other ship because all roads lead me to Rome. I see these two everywhere. I see them in the ying and yang, I see them in Geography, I see them in lovers, haters, enemies, frenemies, longing, music, passion, poetry, language, culture, philosophy, competence. You can stretch and bend this ship in sooo many ways. You like a more toxic dynamic? Talk abt their pinning during the world wars. You want soft and dynamic? You GOT IT. You want raging madness and rough petiness? You want jealousy, sex, bold, shy, subtle, loud? They can do it alll. GerIta isn't a ship. They are a promise. A song. A whisper in museum halls. A glow in the dark of a loud heavy metal 2000s club. They come in a SET. Do what you want with these two, but they stay together!!!

HATEEEEE gerita. I completely respect others' choices to ship whatever couple they want together. But I HATE those two together. Even aesthetically. I just think a dimwit like Feli would irl have NOOO substance for conversation with a boring man like Lud.

I have to say, I've tried to read even the most famous and compelling fics about these two like: auf wiedersehen, Feli and the king of hearts, un giorno per noi but i ALWAYS end up disappointed about the dynamic and the lack of potential. I'd rather ship someone like Spain or France with N Italy. OMG imagine France and N Italy as a couple strutting down the fashion districts of Paris or strolling down historical plaza's in Italy, passionate make outs in a bathroom in Nice. For Lud I'd pick someone boring like... Belgium or Luxemburg even. So much more potential ~~ wish there were more fics of these duos
