Oh my, it's been a hot minute since the last blogpost! I've been really busy the last few months and I've been trying to create a balance between art-making, health, relationships and responsibilities.

I do miss writing and I want to get back into the habit of posting again. As it stands, I'm still struggling to make comic pages and the art that I want to create. My time for art-making is very limited nowadays so I have to pick my projects carefully.

As of today (April 23, 2018) I am temporarily closing my Patreon Campaign. The main reasons are:

I realize I am still a long ways off as an Illustrator in terms of content,

I do not have the time to fulfill the rewards,

I want to improve and provide better rewards

I do think the platform is just an awesome way to support creators, I'm just not at that stage yet!

What's next?

I've been working on Nightmare's Tragedies ( Smackjeeves | Tapas ) and on my Twitch Streams very consistently, which has helped me be more productive!

I will be switching over to a more relaxed update schedule so as to avoid burning out and keep streaming twice a week. I'll be updating in batches as I finish the pages, most likely that Friday. I've realized my old update schedule has become unsustainable for me at the moment.

I'm also working on making a new website! I plan on launching on June with new content, a revamped shop and new commissions page so stay tuned!

Timelapse Tuesday 36: Clip Studio Paint Practice + Sept. News!

Hi everyone and welcome back to another Timelapse Tuesday! This week's video comes with September news and changes! I wanted to dust off some of the rust from not inking much last week due to working on other projects.

I go into details in the video but the next few months are going to be busy and hectic to meet deadlines and get some special projects underway. I go into details in a later Patreon-only post so be sure to check my page out for more content!

To make sure I plan my time and get them done, I won't be updating Timelapse Tuesdays for the month of September. In exchange, I will be streaming on Wednesdays and uploading them on Tuesdays!

To everyone in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and the US Coast, please stay safe. This hurricane season has been brutal with Hurricane Harvey’s destruction and the incoming Hurricane Irma, which has already made landfall in Antigua at the time of this post.

I am worried for my family and friends that are and will be affected by these storms. If you can, please donate to verified disaster relief charities that will need the help. (link goes to Charity Navigator)

Art Process

Hi everyone and welcome back to Timelapse Tuesday! This week's video has been coming for a few weeks now, since I started playing Breath of the Wild on the weekends! I've been taking the weekends off just to play video games and relax a bit; it's the main reason why I don't really post on Saturdays and Sundays.

This fan art was something that I've been wanting to do for some time now, I just never made the time for it! I wanted to do it in markers because I love how bright the colors can be on paper. I love the game's painterly aesthetic and I wanted to draw Link in the hood I use the most in the game (aside from the Climbing, Sheikah and Zora outfits).

I talk about making fan art as a way to try new art techniques and concepts. I'm no stranger to making fan works, though I don't really share most of it because of the negative connotations it can have. It's lessened over the years, that's for sure. I think it's good to create fan stuff in between working original content because it's a way to appreciate the source content. Let me know what you think!

Art Process

Hi everyone! Welcome to an overdue Timelapse Tuesday post! I apologize for not posting on Tuesday, I was honestly burnt out after a hectic day on my end. I was being particularly hard on myself as a freelance artist that day and it all came down so hard that I only managed to get the Instagram preview of the video up. I didn't even stream, which is something I look forward to in the week. I hadn't drawn anything up until yesterday afternoon when I worked on inking more pages. 

Anyways, onto the actual video! This video came out of reminding myself to record as much as I can when I make art. I wanted to get August's Sketch Raffle reward done and I wanted it to be in watercolors. I go into more details in the video, but I want to take my colors from pastels to higher chromatic values. I'm on the lookout for any recommendations for watercolor paints, my favorite so far are my Kuretake Gansai Tambi! I'll see you all soon for tonight's Twitch Stream! Thank you for reading!

Art Process

Hi everyone and welcome back to Timelapse Tuesday! This week's episode was a break from my usual color work for a bit to play in line art. I wanted to play with lines and really build a solid drawing before considering adding more values through toners. It's a rather short, but fun video!

I made this illustration while working on the webcomic pages. It's interesting working on several things at once, since I was working solely on the pages around this time last year! It's interesting and sometimes surprising how much I've expanded my art content in so little time to include YouTube, Twitch & Patreon as well as this very blog! 

I tend to limit myself to the G-Nib and the Mapping Pen tool when I ink, since I can handle them quite well in my style. I'm trying out new pen settings for more textured and sort of "organic" lines for my pages, as well as practicing my perspective sketching! I'll see you all soon for tonight's Twitch Stream!
