Keith Kogane x Reader Imagine

Summary: This is a little blurb about Keith overhearing the reader getting cat-called while walking around an alien market!

TW: Catcalling, sexual harassment, aggressive men

You were strolling around the little alien market with the gang. Or, at least, you were until everyone went in their own direction. Coran, looking for a special material the castle was getting low on. Hunk, off to find some special ingredient for a recipe he was trying. Pidge got distracted by a video game awhile back. Allura saw a glittery dress that she had fallen in love with (you helped her try it on and assess it but strayed when she started getting into a bartering argument with the shop owner). Lance found a group of alien girls to flirt with and Keith was patrolling the area—he was very suspicious of the merchants in the market. You, being his girlfriend, tried to get him to walk around with you, which he did begrudgingly at first but soon was back to patrolling. And you, well, you just started browsing around, looking at different knick-knacks and things as you strolled.

Suddenly, when going past a small alley between shop tents, a few guys jumped out and screamed what you imagine the alien equivalent of "BOO" is before doubling over cackling at your scared reaction. Grumpily, you shook it off and kept walking, trying to ignore those guys. Keith, on constant alert, had heard the scream and started to head your way when he noticed that the guys had started to follow you. He stayed observant, hidden, not wanting to make a scene before he could be sure what was going on.

"Hey sweeatheart, why don’t you give us a smile, we were only playing with ya" one of the guys called out to you. Realizing that you were being followed and harassed, you picked up your pace and crossed your arms over your chest.

"No smile, eh? C’mon we’re just bein nice! Can’t you take a compliment?" One of the other guys called out.

"That’s okay! The view from behind is even better!" The first guy remarked, smirking as his eyes landed on your ass. So badly you wanted to turn around and give them a piece of your mind but you know how dangerous is could be to talk back to cat-callers. And while you knew how to fight, you didn’t have any weapons on you and you couldn’t get kicked out of the market before Coran got what he needed. So, you just kept walking faster, hoping they’d give up.

Keith, obviously, didn’t have the same reservations as you did on the situation. Just as the guys were about to call out to you again, Keith shouted:

"Hey! Stop harassing her!" As soon as you heard Keith’s voice, you spun on your heels, seeing him standing in a fighting stance.

"Oh yeah? What’re you gonna do about it, shrimp?" Kieth unsheathed his sword from his bayard.

"You don’t wanna find out, I’ll promise you that" Keith stared the two men down. Them, not having anything on them except their fists and being in a public space, decided to stand down, angrily walking down an alley.

"Y/n, are you okay?" Kieth ran up to you, sheathing his bayard once again and placing a delicate hand on your shoulder. You wrapped your arms around his neck.

"I am now, thanks to you" you placed a gentle kiss on his lips.

"Anything for you, peaches"

"But uh, Keith?"

"Yeah?"

"We may wanna run" Following your eyes over his shoulder, he saw a couple of security guards coming your way. With a smile, Keith grabbed your hand and the two of you dashed around the market, giggling the entire way.

People who say "if you don't like ____, leave the fandom" are extremely toxic. Your interests don't have to be 100% love or hate. You are allowed to have mixed feelings. You are allowed to have more than one interest and not only be "in" or "out" of a fandom. Your blog can be whatever you want, and catering only to people who feel 100% adoration is a really toxic mindset.

When someone is asking a question on a subject they are clearly ignorant about, answer the said question, educate them on the subject, without being AGGRESSIVE, ACCUSATORY and JUDGY !

I see it happening a lot in anti-racism movements, the LGBT community and disabled people. Yes, you are fed up with the bullshit and the oppression, and rightfully so, but being rude and disdainful will not bring you any allies and will do no favours to what you are fighting for. You'll just appear as a hostile SJW.

Spread information, not hate.
