Redesign of one of the first characters I created on Procreate
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't think I originally gave him a name, so I've decided to call him Sclarry. His first design was made back in 2021 with heavy inspiration from the Dead Cells animated trailer. The second was made in 2022 (I lost the exact dates for them.) I might do more character redesigns and stuff later, definitely more worldbuilding art, I just needed an artistic break from the Tetrox for a bit

The Tetrox aren't alone in the galaxy. These are the Janta-ri
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Almost 2k light years from the Tetrox's domain lies the triple-sunned Rijlar system, around which orbits the arid ringed world of Didjidus, home to a plethora of complex desert dwelling organisms.
The Janta-ri are tall sapient creatures who have spread their societies across the entire planet. Large steam powered vehicles called sand engines are integral their civilization, moving goods between sprawling sandstone cities and providing homes for nomadic caravans. Steam power on Didjidus was discovered surprisingly early
While some Janta-ri have fully industrialized, the sheer size of their population means that the majority still survive off of dated or even ancient technology. Passed down beliefs and religion analogs also play a large role in the state of their culture

Sunset in the cold northern region of Vel crater
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vel is the original crater in which the Tetrox evolved, and they would not properly venture outside of it until pressure suits were invented. That's not to say they didn't try. Many artifacts and bodies have been discovered on the craters edge, preserved for millennia in the thin atmosphere

How big are tetroxes? they look very cute
Adult Tetrox average about a meter tall from head to toe
Tumblr media
Of course they can vary quite a bit. Those living in space stations or planetary outposts may even reach up to 140cm tall with much thinner bodies

Meet the Splurpy! A small omnivore with a big personality. Info and additional drawings below
Tumblr media
As stated above, these critters make their homes inside plants. The plants may vary but Splurpies prefer ones with a thick cuticle and high foliage density. The plant shown above is a Water Seed, these bad boys can store water for weeks on end!
Once a Splurpy has found its home of choice kt will get to trimming! Cutting the thick stalks of the Water Seed is no problem with their keratin blade. The moisture coming free in this process will make the grounds ready for laying the Splurpies' eggs, which need a humid environment to develop properly.
Once the house is made, a Splurpy will lose no time to defend it. The usual targets consist of mid-sized mollusk like critters that try to eat the host plant. The weapons of choice are a high pitched hiss that is produced by forcing air through the animals' nostrils, as well as some posturing and stabbing with the front feet at the threat.
The temper of a Splurpy can rarely be brought down once aggravated and it will lash out at anything it perceives as too close to the host plant. Even animals that are far outside its weightclass are not safe from its rightious anger!

Assorted Tetrox Sketches and Poses
Tumblr media
A couple unique genetic variations can seen across these individuals, such as eye and belly patterning, shape and size of the head-tentacles, muscle to fat ratio, body proportions, etc. Examples of sexual dimorphism are also present, with females having noticeably shorter vestigial back-tentacles, about 1/3 the length of their tail.

Dusk and cool rocks on Avox
When Vella sets, the fog rises. Dusk is when the Tetrox and many other crepuscular organisms are most active. In the second illustration, a herd of Wellok males march to their breeding ground up in the mountains

Are they monogamous, polygamous, or something else? And can you draw two young ones plying with a toy?
Tetrox are monogamous, mating with their partner for life. In the wild, males and females were specialized to forage in the water and on the land respectively, and both would work to maintain nests and pools to raise their initially aquatic young. These traits still echo in modern societal norms, even on far flung colonies

Ventures outside the atmosphere
Most of the Tetrox's early spacecraft were launched from mass drivers mounted where the atmosphere is thin. This efficient method allowed them to easily set foot upon their three nearby moons. Time spent working out of the air also gave them practice with manufacturing cheap pressure suits and habitats

Just discovered your blog and damn! You rock, loving your stuff. Excited to see your future projects :)
The Tetrox are amazing! Can you draw an individual with its pet? What's the most common Tetrox domesticated creature?
Cheers!
Thanks for the kind words! I'll definitely be posting more on here in the future!
The most common domesticated creatures are large predatory animals called Highland Xarva. I haven't drawn them in a while, so this was a good chance to do a slight redesign. They help with farm work, carrying resources, and protecting Tetrox from larger predators on the steppe

Life by the water
With extreme tides and regular flooding of rivers and lakes from glacial melt, most Troxian infrastructure is built on stilts and/or is able to float
