i'm convinced "bi-han" only exists because the mortal kombat team regrets the name noob saibot. he started out as a fun little easter egg in MK2. he was never meant to be a real character. they never expected anyone to care that much. but then fans fell in love with the ninjas. they wanted all the ninjas all the time, in every game, forever. so they had to do it. they had to make him canon. they had to give him lore and personality and a role in the story. and when the games started featuring full-blown narratives, they saw the bed they'd made for themselves. the creeping horror of realising they would soon have to write dialogue in which this dreadful spectre is referred to, with absolute gravity, as "noob"

there is a strong overlap between those who would intentionally misname someone out of spite and the “i don’t care if you’re offended” crowd. i’m not sure how effective this would be in practice
I know it feels like an understatement but you sometimes make more progress by pointing out that conservatives are fucking rude. going out of your way to call someone the wrong name because you don't like them? rude. childish. this isn't fucking kindergarten, Carl. she said her name is Jennifer. Everybody knows her as Jennifer. You are the one making things confusing. Grow up.
"misgendering is violence": invites discourse over the TraNs DeBatE, puts people on the defensive, opens you up to accusations of liberal snowflakery, comes off as a hypothetical thought exercise
"Who the fuck is Jason? I don't know a Jason. Oh her? You mean Jen? You mean fucking Jen? That's Jen, dipshit." : crystal clear. you're making shit more difficult for everyone because you're a rude manchild.

listen. reptile is popular. he's popular enough that people miss him when he's not included, but he's not sub-zero popular, where you have to put him in every single game or people will riot. this means you can skip him for one game and people will go "aw man, no reptile this time," and then in the next game, you drop the big reptile trailer and everyone goes "OHHHH HE’S BACK" and gets super hyped. they did this with noob saibot between mk10 and mk11. it worked. there is precedent. i am confident netherrealm knows this and will make the only correct decision

why is black ariel a controversy. why is this the thing people are angry about. am i missing something here
every single one of these live action/cg disney reboots
ALL OF THEM
have been fucking shit. soulless cash-grabs created only to milk as much cream out of the nostalgia udder as possible. i don't know why anyone is acting like this one would have been different if only they'd chosen a white redhead for the role of ariel. if the movie does somehow turn out good despite all the odds, who fucking cares what colour the lead was. if it turns out bad, ariel being played by a black woman is not going to be what made it bad. hyperfixating on this nitpick only serves to blind you to the real problem, the same problem it's always been, which is artistry and innovation and passion being swallowed up by the yawning maw of corporate greed. you are being served a bowl of cat piss and complaining that it's cold

man, everhood was real disappointing. it feels like the conceptualisation began and ended with “what if undertale genocide route was good, and pacifist was bad”, but they didn’t have enough ideas of their own to make it pop, so instead we just got this confused, meandering wallsplatter with an ending that didn’t know when to fucking stop and not much to say beyond “living forever sucks.” also, having to double tap to run is dumb and clunky.
good music though

to all the sexless nerds screeching that bioware is "caving in to demands" and "compromising their artistic vision" by adjusting some camera angles, i sure hope you were singing the same fucking tune when they released the mass effect 3 extended cut because too many people complained about the original ending

gamers are not an oppressed minority but the amount of people pissing and moaning about “mass effect sjw edition” because you get to see one character’s ass slightly less often tells me that they should be

jon bernthal’s ‘the punisher’ fighting me on a rooftop: who gave you the balls? you and i are the same? got some shiny brass balls to say that shit to me. what i do is payback. it’s taking pain and paying it forward. and here’s what i’m paying, chief. every day i wake up and i feel her blood spray my face all over again. you think you know pain? huh? you think you know?
me, taking advantage of the lull to light a cigarette: ever hear of the frontier project? it was a large-scale total conversion mod for obsidian’s fallout: new vegas. ten year old game, heh, ugly, janky-lookin’, aged like a baby browning left in a puddle, but some good men kept the fire lit. i was on the dev team. just grunt shit, you know, scripting, textures, all that. meant something, though. felt like i’d found a purpose, to give something back to the world, build a candle to burn through the dark, just for a little while. seven years i worked, frank. seven years of my life i gave ‘em, and not one red cent to show for it. and when it was finally done, finally time to light the wick and let it shine, they laughed, frank. they all just laughed. seven years of blood, sweat and tears, poured down the toilet and flushed like stale piss…all because of a brony with a stinky foot fetish
jon bernthal’s ‘the punisher’, heaving, twitching, swaying with rampant adrenaline, his eyes darting wildly, his face a grim knot of horror and regret, the aggression still lingers but you can tell something got through to him and he is slowly realising we are kindred spirits: shit

seems like redo of healer is ending up in the goblin slayer situation, where the clash between finger-wagging twitter puritans and anti-woke 4chan joker wannabes stirs up a big whirlwind of controversy to distract everyone from the fact that it's, uh, just not very good

i'm saying i'm not interested because none of this is meaningful. again, everyone goes through different shit. anyone can be influenced by the people around them at any age. anyone can go through a depressive phase, or a bitter phase, or suffer a blow to their self-esteem that makes them see things in a dimmer light. anyone can seek validation in the wrong ways. to suggest that nobody would ever dismiss (or pretend to dismiss) something they once enjoyed, just because they're not a teenager anymore, is ridiculous
and again, i reject this idea that you can't be a real fan of something if you didn't post about it enough on twitter. you know what one of my favourite game franchises is? civilization. find a reference to it on my blog. take a look. you'll see posts about pokemon, blasphemous, darkest dungeon, plenty of games i like, but none about civ, even though i've enjoyed it from a young age. there is no reason for this other than i just didn't feel the need to make those posts. i appreciate it on my own terms, quietly. this is not evidence of anything
when did he ever actually claim to be a fan of rwby? he said he liked rt and monty's earlier work, but as far as rwby goes, seems as though he thought the trailers were cool and that's it.
and oh, i see what you're talking about now. you mean the bit where he says minor animation mistakes are given too much attention and it stifles discussion of the bigger issues, and then zooms in on a minor animation mistake for, uh...five seconds of the 2.5 hour video, without harping on it, thereby not giving it too much attention, and not stifling his discussion of the bigger issues. that part?
Hey, I’m sure you must be really tired of Hbomberguy’s video, but someone on the RWBY subreddit just made a post that makes him look even more like an asshole. - https://old.reddit.com/r/RWBY/comments/idkcam/the_hbomberguy_video_genuinely_upsets_me/ - Seriously, this user brings up some posts that Hbomber wrote about Monty years ago that are simply disgusting and I think it should be spread around.
Holy shit. Like, putting his criticisms aside, this man really tried to say he was a huge fan of Monty that admired his work so much and then said this shit when Monty was still alive. The audacity. The fucking gall.

i'm not interested in what age you think hbomb should have been when he started behaving a certain way. everyone is different. everyone matures at different rates and is shaped by the unique experiences they've had in life
i'm also not interested in how much you think he has to post about something or someone on social media in order to qualify as a real fan. there are a great many things i enjoy that i've never posted about. if i later claimed to be a fan of those things, and someone tried to cite my prior silence as evidence that i'm faking it, i would, without hesitation, tell them to fuck off
and that tweet you quoted is, what? jokey reductivism of rvb? making fun of his own interests? i do that all the time. so do lots of people. doesn't mean our appreciation for those things is insincere
as for "all the other examples of hypocrisy", forgive me if i don't take that at face value

we have very different ideas of ripping into someone. i’m seeing that he made fun of him a bit and was critical of his weird workflow and his insistence on using a program that (as far as i understand) is not a good choice for 3d animation. you can do these things and still appreciate the fact that he worked extremely hard and made fun flippy dippy fight scenes.
and i wouldn't say i'm giving credit, exactly. could be he really is lying. i dunno. all i'm saying is, digging up posts from six years ago, made in a different environment, with a very different idea of where to draw the line with jokes, from what may have been a totally different emotional headspace, is not slamdunk proof that he secretly always hated monty.
