Edwin is tired of his mother trying to set him up with painfully dull upper class men. Not even the fact that they’re gay makes them more interesting. So, to survive his sister’s wedding without another awkward date, he asks one of Crystal’s very straight friends to be his fake boyfriend. Charles is a working-class rebel with pins on his jacket and a love for the dramatic. His father will hate him. Perfect. Charles wasn’t planning to spend a week pretending to be someone’s boyfriend at a fancy island wedding, but £500 is £500. And sure, he’s not actually into guys, but kissing a pretty lad to make his uptight family uncomfortable? Honestly, sounds like a great holiday. What could possibly go wrong? (Spoiler: everything.)

because one, we only saw a snippet of there usual dynamic in the first episode before everything got turned on its head for both boys

and two because when they first meet the boys decorating from VASTLY different understandings of friendship and social ques. the etiquette, expectations, and social rules of the 1910s and 1980s are so widely different it would definitely lead to friction and misunderstandings at some point. especially since edwin is operating with zero knowledge on modern society and charles with almost zero knowledge of the edwardian era

i think it's very funny that the cat king perceives himself as this cool, confidently sexy guy who has all situations under control. and then he just messes it up. constantly. almost kisses edwin, interrupts it with the bracelet. tries to make edwin fall in love with him, makes him realize he's in love with charles instead. tries to warn edwin to make him like him, pisses him off instead. pretends to be unbothered by this, look like this 😟 instead. no one is doing it like him.
