"If dragons don't count, either a bat like my dad, or some kind of arctic animal. Sort of torn between hare and elk on that one. If they had wings, I mean."
"Yeah, he can bake, but he doesn't do it much because it's just not as challenging I guess. Luckily he taught me mostly everything he knows, so we're not often without baked goods around here."
though i like math a bit better this semester even though parts of it are still a bit horrifying. its more or less figuring out which formulas and what you need to put in there
but integrals are soooo much better than derivatives
AND ALSO SPRINGS.
compared to other things this is so nice and simple.
ESPECIALLY COMPARED TO THIS
"Hey, you've got this. You won't need luck, but I'll wish you some anyway."
He hums in understanding, realizing there was more to this business than he first thought. The kind of thing Ori would love to get himself tangled up in, he thought with a fond a sigh.
"Well, how about this," Koru starts, leaning forward a bit. "You can treat my office like a pit stop of sorts. Tell me what I oughta stock up on, and if you're in the area, you can come and grab some snacks, refill your drink, whatever you need to do. I'll lend you a listening ear if you need one, too. No catch. That okay with you?"

A teal portal opens in the floor of the office, and a short girl with stack of features pops out. The strange girl looks around the room, furrowing an eyebrow.
“Well this certainly isn’t my assignment… Hello, Sir! I’m sorry for the interruption, portal malfunction, you know how it is!”
Kira’s annoyed expression shifts to a sympathetic smile as she turns to Koru, pulling out her mirror to trouble shoot. Her face seemed more amused than afraid while reading the universe info.

This wasn't the first time someone had landed in his office by mistake. Koru took a good look at the girl, tapping his pencil on the desk thoughtfully.
"I get it, kiddo. It's no big deal," he replied with a light nod. "You're not intruding on anything, take your time getting yourself together if you need. You can even stop and hang out for a while, if you like," he invited habitually.
Realizing he might have been backing her into a corner, Koru shook his head. "No, no, you don't have to advertise to me. I meant moreso in a skipping out way, if that makes sense. Or even if you just want to stop by for a snack and a power nap or something," he explained, aware he was probably fumbling his words. "This place is a safe space for anyone who needs it. It's mostly untraceable and pretty closed-off, being its own dimension."

"I appreciate the consideration," Koru says with another nod. "I guess you work hard for your guild if you're the only one, then? Because if that's the case, you're welcome to stop by here and rest any time you need. The office is generally pretty quiet and chill."

Koru nods in understanding, sensing the bit of exhaustion under the tone, but not prodding at it just yet. "That's pretty fascinating, honestly. Haven't met many other magic-absorbers, I'll admit."

"Ah. So you're better-wired to handle it, then. That's a bit of a relief, to be honest." He nodded once, as if confirming more with himself than with her.

He just watches, both concerned and amazed as she drinks it. "Huh. Tough stuff, then. You handle dark magic better than your coworkers then, I guess?"

"Dark-" He double takes between the kid and cup. "Dark magic???"
That was concerning, even to him. Dark magic? Should someone be consuming dark magic? Is that healthy? Is it legal? Should he try it?
He sets the cup down, pushing it across the desk back towards Kira. "Can't say I expected that," he responded, blinking in his confusion.
