The Dazzling Metropolitan that is Nadyiv

Nadyiv, is, well, Nadyiv. Such a large city holds no comparison. Nadyiv is centered around both its old city's Knyahynska Maidan, where Hrozava's Knyzahyna Moroza Kovalka lives, as well as the Pechersk business district, with its streets zigzagging across the space between. The city is nicknamed the city of hope, or mysto nadyu in Hrozavan, as many travel to the city from less fortunate locations to restart their life.

A notable point in Nadyiv's history is its two oldest building, both temples of Berehynia, the only two buildings to survive the Ilijik-propagated Great Fire of 1784 during the Revolution of Nadyiv. The city rebuilt itself in its famous and unique Baroque styling, and the blocks and streetmap of the city were rebuilt in a more modern, and unique layout, centering on large squares across the old town, with its major roads centering on the Knyahynska Maidan.

Nadyiv's unique Baroque style is unique, and the city has fought hard to preserve it. From the 1950s to the 1970s, as the economy boomed, many unique and beautiful baroque buildings were torn down to be replaced with contemporary styled apartments. When the bulldozers threatened the historic and beautiful Nadyiv-Zakhid train station, over 100,000 protestors staged a squat inside, and successfully saved the building from destruction. Following the squat-in, the municipal government voted in favor of several preservation laws, maintaining the unique architecture in much of the city. While the Old City was majorly unaffected, the now-Pechersk district was built on the places where many of the now-gone Baroque buildings once stood, and a monument was erected for the squatters that saved Nadyiv-Zakhid. Nadyiv's streetscape is also a unique site, as many reflect that the city seems quieter than one would think for such a large and sprawling community. The streets are some of the safest for cyclists, also granting Nadyiv the highest percentage of cycling commuters out of any city in Ulina. The craze for cycling in Nadyiv has led to several underground bike parking areas, under major destinations like each train station, the squares, and metro stations. Another unique location are the tunnels under the former moat of the city, known for their heavy nightlife usage, where much of the local scenes play. Nadyiv is home to the center of Cosonaan culture in Hrozava, a strange phenomenon that so many Cosonaans live across the sea from their former homes. In the far northern district of Nadyiv, Breda, lays the Baailan, the main street for the district facing the grand Nadyiv Bay. Here you can try any Cosonaan delicacy to your fancy, and you will most definitely hear more of it than Hrozavan in these parts. The heart of such a nation, Nadyiv never skips a beat, and never will. For Nadyiv is Nadyiv, in all of its faults and mayhem.

The Cross-Hrozava Trail

Spliting the nation from top to bottom, cutting through valleys, ashfields, and glaciers, through Hrozava's heartland, before ending on the Great Vorohtan Bay, is the Cross-Hrozava Trail. The Cross-Hrozava Trail is a long, and extensive hiking trail, known to many as Ulina's crown jewel achievement in its completion.

The trail starts in frigid, and volcanic Morozska Krayi, cutting through the jagged Mertvyi Range and into Beretsya's Paw, a large crater refuge in the middle of the harsh Hranska Mountains, before descending south into the Great Hrozavan Steppe, past the Hrudyi Mountains. In the Steppe it zigzags around settlements before crossing Zilyina's Gate, a large, picturesque valley. After Zilyina, it continues along the Kamini foothills, before crossing the range towards Smyla, reaching the Great Vorohtan Bay about 14 km south of Vorohta.

The trail is designated as one of Hrozava's Great Wonders, and receives about 12 million visits, however barely any fully complete the trail

Hold on, Hrozava

April 11th, 2055 - Smyla, Smylskyi Kray, Hrozava - Today, a cyclone appeared from the Meisbos Forest, causing severe damage across the villages near the forbidden forest, as well as the regional capital of Smyla. Authorities are still assessing the damages, of this rapid and unpredictable disaster, however eyewitnesses report that the main temple of the city fully collapses, despite the rest of the historic central city being almost untouched.

Rada’s New Bills

The Hrozavan Rada has passed new legislation, with Kovalyka’s blessing, to restrict new and reuse nuclear warheads for the many nuclear power stations in Hrozava, as well as new maintenance on the protection of Hrozava’s borders. The nuclear bill comes after the depressing news of the nuclear devesitation of both Korlan and Vau’sena. Hrozava is preparing to send aid to support the innocent victims of this attack.

Finally, Rada voted unianimously to allow the ascendion of the Pokrzola Isles as a new Krayi. The artipelago, located far north of the Lestovian isles, has been home to a distant tribe of Hrozavans, and has been a part of Hrozava, as a special territory, for many years. The ascendion will allow the territory to be closer with the rest of the Krayis.

A beautiful day

Today in Nadyiv, a parade marches through. "Today, we announce the victory of Hrozava, and Vau'sena, above the ruthless Korlanic enemies we fought. We stand with Vau'sena, as always, as we celebrate the success of our forces. Now, our last frontier will focus on the liberation of Kladiow, and to destroy its fascist ideals, and reinstate freedom, and peace in our neighbor." Moroza Kovalyka held a speech in the Holokivskyi Maidan, not only in congratulation to the Armed Forces, and to our nation's allies, but also in contempt to the State Union's lackluster campaign in Kladiow, and lack of meaningful support to Vau'sena. "Hrozava was the most impactful Confederate in Slavia, and is still the more impactful and victorious of the Slavic states. The fact that only Hrozava was able to maintain any offensive into Kladiow is disgraceful when Hrozava was always the smallest of the trio." Today is a day that marks the date in history.

The Burning Firs War - Part 1

The Burning Firs War, or the Hrozavan War for Independence, was a civil conflict waged between the ethnically Hrozavan rebellion groups, known colloquially as the Vylntsy', or Kolotnyky, against the Holy Kingdom of Ilijika, in the Hrozavan and Kladiowian duchies. The war marked the beginning of the fall of the Holy Kingdom, with the dukes of each duchy growing more and more against the High King. The war is widely known as the birth of modern espionage and sabotage, due to its heavy use in this war. The pivotal figure at the helm of this revolution was Duke Danylo Svyatskyi, an Illjikan aristocrat who had been appointed to govern the Halytska Duchy. Despite his Illjikan origins, Svyatskyi became enamored with Hrozavan culture and the spirit of Hrozavan nationalism. His commitment to the granting of equality to the Hrozavafolk was what caused the beginning of the war The war began in earnest with the fiery destruction of Nadyiv, following the estrangement of Duke Danylo Svyatskyi from the royal family of Central Ilijika, the Holy Kingdom's ruling family. The Razing of Nadyiv destroyed the city, killing nearly 75% of the citizenry, and the Duke was slaughtered in the main square, now known as Prezydentskyi Maydan. The remaining citizenry largely escaped to other cities, particularly the other duchies' capitals, spreading the news of the fate of Nadyiv across Hrozava. From the smoldering remains of what was Nadyiv, the wife of the former Duke Danylo, Duchess Katka, declares full independence of Hrozava from the Holy Kingdom, from the seaside plains of Vorohta, to the icy fjords of Morozka Secha, in the rage and despair from the events taking place. Another side effect of the Razing of Nadyiv, was the distrust of many of the other duchies in Hrozava to the royal family. Many of the dukes believed the High King overstepped his duties as a divine monarch, with causing such a catastrophic event, the exact opposite reaction the King hoped for. With that, many of the dukes agreed to meet and assist the new Duchess in Halytchyna, and later, with the Duke of Zvolyna, created the Vylntsy', creating a new army to oppose the swelling number of Ilijik soldiers attempting to subjugate the revolution. Nadyiv evenings…

It’s a cold evening in Nadyiv. The river Dnipola is slowly freezing, and as far as Breda and Pechersk, clouds obscure the lights of the city. Yet the city never rests, as a recognizable young vixen peers out her window at the art galleries across the river. Moroza looks at her laptop with a bitter look. Another few soldiers dead this month, in a war where each town taken results in à thousand civilian deaths. Is this war worth it? Is it worth fighting to stop the murderous dictatorship, or is it worth it to stop, and limit their killings. The Hrozavan people are indecisive about this war, as there were no changes in conscription, and the war remains still a distant conflict for most of them. But, there is still a cost, for liberty. Moroza closes the computer, and sips on her Znachna, knowing she’ll hopefully see an end soon.

The Hrozavans.

The Hrozavans, native to Kanita’s Great Jut, is the main species of the nation of Hrozava. Hrozavans massively resemble foxes, and share a common ancestor. The origin of the species is unclear, however it is known that Hrozavans lived in Kanita since prehistoric times. Hrozavans are about on average, 5 feet and 2 inches, and have stronger senses of smell and hearing than most other species on Ulina. Hrozavans also possess an interesting evolution akin to their habitat. Hrozavans can filter out the ash and particles in the air to a certain degree, helping them survive the harsh Hrozavan volcanic eruptions. Hrozavans shed for each season, and even if they move to a warmer climate for longer than a month.

A notable quality of Hrozavans are their overall preference for sweet foods. While most humans prefer salty foods over sweet, Hrozavans are overwhelmingly the opposite. Sugar is even considered healthy for Hrozavans, as sucrose helps foster fur growth and health.

Introduction to Hrozava.

The State of Hrozava (Hrozavan: Держава Грозава / Derzhava Hrozava; Ricarhemel: Stat Hrozava; Kruhastan: Država Hrozava ) is a nation state located in Northwest Kanita. Hrozava is the third largest nation in Kanita, behind Catsbourg and Ilijika. Hrozava is one of Ulina's "great powers", and the nation's prowess in heavy industries, trade, and military ventures is known across the globe. Hrozava's population is approximated to be about 56 million, with nearly a fifth of the population living within the capital city, Nadyiv's metropolitan area. The population is split between 89% being of the Hrozavan species, 7% being of the Ricarhemel/Rybayerian species, and 1% of others. Hrozava is a unicameral semi-presidential parliamentary republic, with 25 distinct regions, known natively as krayi. The President of Hrozava, is Moroza Kovalyka Hrozava is located in Northwest Kanita, upon the Great Jut, bordering Ilijika, and Kladiow. The nation is a founding member of the Union of Kanitan Countries, and participates heavily in worldly affairs.

Hrozava is known to many as Kanita's iron helm. The nation is covered in geothermally active areas, and some of the most resource-rich areas in all of Ulina. However, the combination of large amounts of volcanic ash, as well as heavy amounts of heavy industry soot in the nation, makes it quite difficult for many non-native species in Hrozava. As a result, the nation's mountainous population is very sparse, with the only major cities in this region being nearly 100% Hrozavan, while the meadows and steppes of central and south Hrozava are where the vast majority of the population lives, are much more diverse. The Hrozavan portion of Rybayeros is known worldwide for its cuisine of pastry dishes, and Hrozavan cafes and patisseries are sprinkled all across the world. Hrozavan industrial products are used across the world, especially within Kanita, where free trade within the UKC keeps the price for these products cheap. Hrozavan cityscapes are very different from other nations. In many cities in Hrozava, car travel within the core city is forbidden, and cycling is the preferred alternative for most Hrozavans. Liberation movements

In a heroic effort, Hrozavan forces liberated the small Kladiowian town of Galewice from the grip of the fascist Kladiowian government and its allies, the Allied Effective. The town, once a town with a large Hrozavan population, was left in ruins after the original citizens were expulsed by the fascists, and all items reflecting the Hrozavan culture or language were destroyed. Many missing statues and plaques were found across the town. The emotional response of President Moroza Kovalyka to the discovery was one of deep disappointment.

The Hrozavan-Kladiowian War has been at a standstill for a few weeks until now, with Hrozavan forces managing to push Kladiowian forces away from the border using new EMP weaponry, but were unable to push much further. As Hrozavans liberate the traditionally Hrozavan diaspora border regions of Kladiow, they have been uncovering the atrocities committed by Kladiow and the Allied Effective against Hrozavans there. Several battalion commanders have spoken up to the Hrozavan media about the discoveries, shedding light on the brutal treatment of Hrozavan nationals by the fascist regime.

The liberation of Galewice is a symbol of hope for the Hrozavan people, as it marks an important step in liberating Kladiow. Despite the overwhelming odds against them, Hrozavan forces continue to push forward with determination and bravery, fueled by the knowledge that they are fighting for rightful ideals in our delusional world.

For years, the Hrozavan people in Kladiow have suffered at the hands of the Kladiowian government and their allies. The forced expulsion of Hrozavan speakers and citizens in Kladiow shows that the fascist regime has spared no effort in its attempts to erase the Hrozavan people there and their culture from history. However, the Hrozavan forces remain steadfast in their resolve to fight for the liberation of their neighboring state.

The Hrozavan-Kladiowian War has been a long and difficult one, with both sides suffering heavy losses. However, the tide is turning in favor of the Hrozavan forces, as they continue to make gains in Kladiowian territory. The liberation of Galewice is just the beginning of the end, and the Hrozavan forces will not rest until their mission is accomplished.

As the world watches the conflict unfold, it is important to remember the cost of war.

Routs on the Eastern Front

1/17/54 - Hrozavan forces have used, for the first time, EMP weaponry upon the fascist troops in Kladiow. Following several research programs, including usage of those upon larger vehicles, and against currently used Hrozavan weapons, the ability to use these weapons, with reduced cost, and increased effectivity has been achieved. Our military has found a way to defend our own weapons from such attacks and deliver effectiveness capable of disabling enemies stronger than other nations. Hrozava will employ the usage of these new and effective EMP devices, as well as will be providing our immediate allies with such.

My fellow citizens of Hrozava,

Today, we stand between a rock and a hard place. Our nation is under attack from the forces of Kladiow and their allied forces. They seek to take over our country, to subjugate our people, and to bring us to our knees.

But I say to you, this will not happen. We will not be defeated, nor will we surrender to these aggressors. We have a strong and resilient people, who will stand up and fight for our nation's freedom.

Our brave soldiers are holding the line at the strategic border city of Zilyina, and we will not let them pass. We know that they have set their sights on our second largest city, Zvolyna, but we will not let them take it. We will protect our citizens, and we will keep them safe.

I want to assure you that we have made massive plans to push back the Kladiowian troops and to liberate Kladiow from its illegitimate fascist government. We are ready to take on this challenge, and we will emerge victorious.

Zilyina is a mountainous city, and this makes it difficult for our enemies to maintain and win. We will use this terrain to our advantage, and we will fight with all our might to defend our nation.

My dear citizens, I know that these are trying times, but I urge you to remain strong and steadfast. Together, we will overcome this adversity, and we will force back the leeches, out of Hrozava, out of Kanita, and out of Ulina.

Ivankyv, HRZ - 26/06/53 - In a bold move towards victory, Hrozavan troops have launched a successful push to the far north of the fascist state of Kladiow. The area is known for its harsh and cold environment, dotted with numerous volcanoes, making it a difficult terrain for warfare. Despite the challenges, the Hrozavan forces have been making significant progress, liberating towns and settlements along the way.

70 rockets fired at Hrozavan cities, all shot down or missed targets

Nadyiv, HRZ - 04/06/53 - A mass attack on Hrozavan infrastructure was conducted today, with 64 rockets shot down by AA batteries, and with the remainder projected to land on uninhabited areas of our nation. Our nation will hold against this fascist mess. We will not allow any rockets to land on our cities, or affect the day to day life of the Hrozavan people. A reflection was made on the extreme effectiveness of the PP-45 anti-BM defense system, and the close-range PP-23 radar-guided AA guns.

A new era...

Following the devastation caused by the usage of a pesticide bomb in Ilijika, an emergency council of the Hrozavan Defense Forces has authorized all units approval to use <<V2>> WMD-deterrent weapons on Korlanic, Kladiowian, and opposing forces. Hrozava will not be allowing the usage of WMDs on civilian targets, however.

The exiled government, unexiled

Midi, KLW - 28.06.53 - Following a harsh battle for the key city of Midi, Hrozavan forces were able to oust the fascists from the city, and liberate the entire city and suburbs. Following this victory, the exiled government of Kladiow, relocated its legislature from the Hrozava border town of Zilyina, to the liberated city. While Midi is not the capital of Kladiow, its a stepping stone for the full liberation of the nation. Slava Hrozava, y vylna Kladchyna!!!!
