Actually watching D3 is great . I love watching Good to be Bad and going “oh that’s just government propaganda everywhere”

The posters … the streets and buildings literally named after them … The showcasing of them as their “liberators” or the “friend of the friendless” uhhh . That doesn’t sound good. They turned these teens into literally propaganda material for the Auradon Government that’s crazy

-Bullying everyone on the isle then the three she becomes friends with are the ones she was basically the worst to. She made Evie get locked in her home for 10 years with only her mom, she had her go through a dark closet with bear traps alone, she was gonna make her sleep forever, she bullied her so much, and never apologized. She literally rolled her eyes when Carlos mentioned how bad cruella was to him and was just overall a shitty friend to them. With Uma she bullied her and they used to be friends, she got pissed cause Uma laughed at a prank backfiring and Mal decided to get revenge even though they were best friends. She dumped rotten shrimp on Uma head and rallied everyone to give Uma that nickname and basically bullied Uma for years. She never apologized to anyone.

-"I can't be queen of JUST auradon I have to be queen of the isle, too" Ruling one place she doesn't deserve is clearly not enough, she has to rule the people she betrayed and by doing so she decided letting all the villains lose that a lot of them abused their kids yet they just get forgiven and let free

-Spelling Ben and never telling him the truth about it. Never apologizing to Audrey for hurting her that bad (Cause even tho they were pushed together Audrey did love him) until it was too late

-Having a pity party when the people she cares about that she really hurt get turned to stone

-Never owning up to anything

-God complex

-The rest of the core four aren't her family or friends, they're her fucking bodyguards tbh.

-spelling Ben who knows how many times, she was gonna erase his memory of finding the spell book so we can't know what else she's done to him

i’m sorry, you… liked the fact that Mal received no narrative consequences for basically drugging Ben and that actually it’s fine that she did that because Ben liked it even though he didn’t consent? 😀

and the fact that not only Mal but the narrative completely stripped him of emotional autonomy by not allowing him to have justified anger about what Mal had done to him? that he misunderstood her motives and she just went along with it in order to not take responsibility? 😀

(i promise im not trying to be hostile i just don’t understand 😭)

Another thing I find really refreshing and cool about Descendants(specifically the first one) is that there is no third act betrayal/misunderstanding/blow up between the main characters.

The VKs are all loyal to each other to the end, even once their motives have all changed and theyre no longer happy with the plan they stick together and follow Mal's lead.

Ben realizes hes been love potioned and finds it endearing and goes along with it even when the affects have worn off

Like the first descendants movie is practically allergic to the third act betrayal/misunderstanding despite CONSTANTLY setting up for one

i love evie so much, but i agree wholeheartedly.

That's why I hate Evie's entire storyline in D3 because of how quick the vks were to say fuck you to Ben just because of the love spell. Her trying to get everybody to get along in D3 was such an eye roll because all Mal had to do was say they were the enemy and she'd fight against them. She never had any personal problems with them in the first place. Her saying Uma was going to destroy auradon in d2 didn't help either because Uma wanting to leave the isle is apparently impossible.

No kidding. Like Evie’s all like “I know you can get along :) We can all be a great big team :)” while the Cotillion scene at D2 proved that the instant Mal displays any anger or sadness at anyone, even someone like Ben, her entire team (including Evie) is turned against them.

Evie, where was this “We can be a great big team! We’d be great together!” energy in the entirety of D2? You spent so long being completely on Mal’s side against Uma’s crew on the Isle. Why does that change now?

I just had an idea where Audrey, post D3 and finding out Uma, Mal and Evie all read and wrote in her diary, rips out all the pages that have the worst of Mal's self-pity and Evie comforting her and absolving her of guilt, wraps them around a rock, and throws that rock through Mal or Evie's window.
