what i'm begging people to understand is that a huge portion of evangelical/christians in usamerica do not genuinely and earnestly believe in their holy texts or core doctrines. for them, religion is a means to uphold white supremacy and patriarchy and they've convinced themselves it's their divine prerogative. that is what they believe. you can plead with them to "be christlike" or point out their hypocrisy until the second coming. they do not care. you can't reason with them because they are not interested in piety or morality they are interested in power and control

Just saw a tiktok of someone being like "you'll never be funnier than people on tumblr in 2025, just, peak comedy over there" while showing a handful of text posts and maybe I'm just used to it here and can't appreciate the humor for what it is but for every post I was like... this isn't especially funny this is just How We Are Here

actually I'm traumatized, which means my brain and body are fundamentally changed by what was done to me. I did not decide to "hold on" and it's not as simple as "letting go". I have to heal from what happened which takes a long time, and if you're uncomfortable with me not excusing your behavior forgiving immediately, then that's your problem not mine.

Do you say to a fresh injury "you should just heal already, stop holding on! forgive and forget!" Do you say that to a permanent scar even?

Idk if it's talked about much how being raised in a cult destroys your critical thinking.

questioning authority is NEVER allowed (for your safety, of course). but always question what everybody else says because theyre likely lying out their asses to GET you. but then these outsiders say things that Make a Lot Of Sense and suddenly you dk what to believe.

only 'good' thoughts are allowed. you're siding with the enemy if you ever agree with them. but the enemy thinks you're a bad person for these mentalities.

and then one day you grow up and you realize not a single opinion you hold is yours, nor is your personality. your personhood has been completely moulded for the authority's convenience-- you're the perfect mommy, the perfect therapist, the perfect maid. if you see any new opinions you immediately adopt them, even if you actively try not to. critical thinking? whats that?
