This stranger stood at the bottom of the stairs, dressed in a simple dark jumpsuit. Black hair floated up from his head almost as though he were underwater, a scarf of sorts hanging in the air like rings and gripped in two hands. Kima couldn’t see his eyes, obstructed by some sort of yellow goggles, and she wondered if it was intentional.

“Think you can get me before she bleeds out?” Nensho growled, voice low as he tightened his grip, sword digging just a fraction deeper.

CHAPTER FIVE - PROVEN WRONG, PT. 1

Eraserhead didn’t want to be here.

He could be using this time to catch up with his husband, enjoy some tea with at least one fluffball curled into his lap, letting himself rest after all the tiring work he’s been doing lately.

It at least seemed that Yuuto shared Aizawa’s lack of enthusiasm, glaring at the pro hero from across the metal table.

His fingers tightened around her own as soon as they twitched, as soon as there was any sign that Kima was awake. She’d hoped he wouldn’t notice, that she could slip back into the dark oblivion of sleep.

She was afraid of the world on the other side of the darkness.

“…Kima?”

He sounded so scared. As badly as she wished she didn’t have to face this, to face what she’d done and what had been done to her… She couldn’t leave Hitoshi alone.

CHAPTER FOUR - THE RIGHT CHOICE

“When do you think you’ll be home?” the phone asked, pulling Shouta from the perfect world he’d just created in his mind. He sighed, glancing towards the detective who was wrapping everything up at the scene. The man turned, glancing at the pro hero for a moment before offering a small smile and a thumbs-up, a signal that everything was just fine. It was all being taken care of. With a quiet breath of relief, Aizawa nodded and turned his attention away again.

“How is he?” the second-in-command asked, worry lacing his voice even as he tried to put on a serious, unaffected face to save himself from the scorn of the men around him.

“He’s…” she hesitated for a moment. He’s fine, she knew as much, and given some time to wake up, he would more than likely be alright. But… They didn’t know it. They couldn’t know it, or they wouldn’t be so scared. They couldn’t tell what she was seeing, or what she was doing, just that she’d saved almost every patient they brought her. Almost. Some were too far gone, or too badly damaged… Some died.

CHAPTER THREE - BUSINESS AS USUAL

"This isn’t at all how I wanted this to happen."

Eraserhead lamented the sudden change of plans as he leaped to the side, dodging the ball of flames that soared past him, heating the air where he’d stood just seconds ago. His eyes snapped to the man who shot it, the imposing gang leader he was here to capture, and the pro activated his quirk. Donovan hesitated for only a moment as his fire went out, never turning his back to Aizawa as the agile man bounced across the warehouse. He reached to his back and pulled out a katana, his yakuza heritage shining through in the move.

CHAPTER TWO - A PAINFUL PAST

A gentle rustling just to her left drew Kima from her thoughts as her eyes glanced over, watching the mound extend into a vaguely human shape just on the other side of the bars. It seemed to stare straight ahead, only given away by the distinctive shape of the muzzle strapped around its mouth. A jolt echoed through the girl’s gut as it did every time she saw the ugly device, a sensation that had not passed in nearly five years.

The head swiveled a little, turning towards her. Shitorokou saw what little light the wall fixtures provided reflecting in the dark eyes, and the effect was equal parts amusing and creepy. She offered a half-smile, leaning her head back against the wall and simply watching her prison mate. Hands drew themselves from beneath the blanket the shape was draped in, and in smooth motions gestured, “Nightmare?”

Kima sighed, nodding a little before muttering, “Yeah. Kind of. I’m sorry, Hitoshi. I didn’t mean to wake you up. Just… remembering things, and how wrong they were.”

CHAPTER ONE - A HOPELESS FUTURE

“And I think I have a right to want to talk about it, Shouta,” Yamada stated softly, twining his own fingers with those on Aizawa’s loose hand. “A lot of the faculty do, and there are going to be questions. But Shouta, Love, when have you ever cared to justify yourself? You say it like you need approval.”

Shouta inhaled slowly, shaking his head slightly to himself. “I don’t. Nezu didn’t step in to stop me, so clearly, he doesn’t see anything wrong with what I did. I don’t give a damn what anyone else thinks. But I want you to understand. I care about your approval, because I don’t want to fight with you.”
