Makoto gets a call from Kirigiri.

Fortunately, Izuru was expecting this and made sure that everyone's phones were on silent. He grabs Makoto's phone from the nightstand without removing his other arm from the sleeping lucksters. And he answers it, speaking at a volume and register perfectly calculated to be audible to Kirigiri without waking them:

"Hello?"

Kirigiri sighs at the immediate implicit answer to the question of why Makoto hasn't come into work today. "As I suspected."

Izuru hums in acknowledgement.

"You know, it's easier for us to cover for him when we get some kind of forewarning."

"It's healthful for the Future Foundation to accustom themselves to the fact that they don't own him and are not entitled to his time."

"Did you let him oversleep, or physically restrain him from getting out of bed?"

In fact, this time it was mostly Nagito. He gave Makoto warm milk with half a sleeping pill dissolved inside, last night, and turned off all his wake-up alarms. When Makoto started to stir this morning (over an hour later than he normally woke), Nagito brushed his hair until he settled. And then Nagito himself fell asleep with the brush still in his hand, and Izuru took it from him before the bristles could poke at Makoto's cheek.

"Yes," Izuru answers concisely.

On Kirigiri's end, Togami's agitated voice is audible in the background. He's threatening to come over. (Not because he actually cares about Makoto's workplace attendance, but because he wasn't given advance notice, and that's the sort of thing Togami takes as an insult.) Izuru is glad that he thought to disconnect the doorbell, but he'll have to get out of bed if he doesn't want Makoto and Nagito to be woken by vigorous knocking.

That's annoying. It's very warm and cozy here.

And he doesn't like leaving them alone when they're sleeping. He likes being close, so he can comfort them if they start to have nightmares.

He slides gracefully out of bed, all the same. Smoothes Nagito's hair out of his eyes and tucks them more comfortably against each other. And he takes a picture with his own phone, for a painting reference (which his flawless memory won't actually need).

It's a little after 10 a.m. now. If he gets breakfast started, that will place him close enough to the front door to stop Togami from being a bother, if he makes good on his threats.
