I don’t know what would it mean, but perhaps she wants to leave and if she gets the right on Kalafina, pull the other two? That is just a heavy speculation I made with one friend though. But wow, I’d never say Keiko.

♫ How does it make you feel?To me this song really screams Kalafina, so it kind of makes me feel nostalgic. I consider it to be like their trademark song, like if I had to pick a song to describe Kalafina’s sound I would pick Red Moon….. does that make any sense… I can’t really put it into words.  ♫ What do you like most about this song?My favorite part of this song is definitely the end. The kajiura-go buildup is so epic and Keiko’s voice on top of that is amazing.♫ What’s your least favourite part about it?I guess my least favorite part is when it dies down around the 4:00 minute mark? I don’t dislike it but if I had to pick a least favorite part it’s that.

♫ Best version of the song? My favorite version of this song is the one from the Consolation live because it looks as if they’re really giving it their all, especially toward the end.♫ Favourite lines in the lyrics?

♫ What was your first impression of it?I’m glad you sent this because this was actually the third Kalafina song I ever heard I’m pretty sure. And I came across it on YouTube when I was still trying to figure out whose voice was whose in the group XD so thanks to the Arena Live version of this, I finally could distinguish them all, and I was definitely impressed by each of their voices.

♫ How do you feel about it now?It’s not one of my favorites, but I don’t dislike the song! It has a special place in my heart though, because I listened to it so early on.

Sorry sorry sorry these have taken me so long TT_TT I have barely had any free time in the last two weeks because of school! Once again, thanks for sending, and sorry these might not be as detailed as people would like!

Also, @jesuiseuphie​, tagging because you sent me Storia too :)

♫ What was your first impression of it?Errr, I don’t think I really thought anything of Storia the first time I heard it, but I didn’t NOT like it or anything. I guess I was neutral?

♫ How do you feel about it now?After watching a couple lives, the song has definitely grown on me and I appreciate more, but I’m still pretty neutral about it. 

♫ Rate the song on a scale from 1 to 10 (with 10 being the best rate)!Hmm, 6.5 probably

♫ Describe the song in one sentence!It’s a very light and bouncy song.

♫ How does it make you feel?It reminds me of ancient/medieval times hahaha.♫ What do you like most about this song?My favorite part of the song is when all three of them harmonize on “hikari to kage no naka kara,” I think it’s such a good harmony and so satisfying! ♫ What’s your least favourite part about it?There’s nothing I don’t particularly like about it, but for some reason I can’t really fully enjoy Hikaru’s voice so I guess that’s my least favorite part…?♫ Best version of the song? Hmm, let’s see.. there are several performances of Storia. I wouldn’t say it’s the best one vocally but I enjoy watching the one from Chikyu Gekijo the most. Vocally, Red Moon live is probably the best.

♫ Thoughts on the musical arrangement and the use of instruments?I love any Kalafina songs that have the flute on it, I think it makes them sound very different. Also, I really like the buildup of the instruments on certain parts of the song, like the buildup to “romance of life” in the beginning and all the parts of the song similar to it. 

♫ Wakana, Keiko or Hikaru? Whose vocals are most impressive in this song?I think I like Wakana’s voice the most out of the three. She hits some pretty high notes.

♫ What was your first impression of it?I loved this song from the first time I heard it!! It was one of the first Kalafina songs I ever heard and it was one of the reasons I began to fall in love with them.

♫ How do you feel about it now?I still love it as much as the first time I listened to it, if not more. I still listen to it several times a week. It’s very underrated I think and it’s definitely in my top 5 favorite songs. 

♫ Rate the song on a scale from 1 to 10 (with 10 being the best rate)!10 hands down. There aren’t many Kalafina songs I would give a 10 at all but this is one of them. 

♫ Describe the song in one sentence!It’s simple with not a whole bunch of lyrics but it’s very beautiful and empowering.

♫ How does it make you feel?This song makes me feel very comforted for some reason, and it makes me want to snuggle up in a blanket when it’s cold outside. ♫ What do you like most about this song?My favorite part of the song is definitely when Keiko does her solo at the end of the live version. But for the original, my favorite part is when the instruments pick up when Keiko finishes singing “haitteoide yo, hayaku”♫ What’s your least favourite part about it?There’s literally nothing I don’t like about this song. My only complaint about the original is that it doesn’t have Keiko’s epic run at the end. 

♫ Best version of the song? Well, the only version we have haha. The one at the Consolation tour in 2013. I sooo wish there were more versions/performances of this. I actually voted for this to appear at the 10th Anniversary Live!

♫ Thoughts on the musical arrangement and the use of instruments?To me the musical arrangement and instruments in this are perfect. The mix of guitar, drums, and piano in this song really makes it powerful somehow. Like I mentioned before, it’s really noticeable when Keiko finishes singing “haitteoide yo, hayaku” …THANK YOU KAJIURA-SAMA!!! 

♫ Wakana, Keiko or Hikaru? Whose vocals are most impressive in this song?KEIKO!!!!!!!! When I watched the live of this song, watching her sing at the end was when I finally fell in love with Keiko’s voice. I could listen to her hit that E5 every day. Before this I didn’t really care for it all that much, unlike the majority of people. This song captured me though, and I haven’t looked back since.

♫ What was your first impression of it?Hmm when I first heard this song it was when I was going through all the B-sides for the singles.. honestly it didn’t really stand out to me that much, but I went through all the singles at once so it was a lot to take in. 

♫ How do you feel about it now?Listening to it now, it has actually grown on me a lot! It’s become one of my favorite B-sides. If it comes on I wouldn’t skip it but it’s not a song I would go out of my way to listen to, if that makes sense. 

♫ Rate the song on a scale from 1 to 10 (with 10 being the best rate)!I would give it an 8

♫ Describe the song in one sentence!It’s a very fast-paced song with kind of a longing feeling. 

♫ How does it make you feel?Hmm, it makes me really think about the future for some reason, like I have a goal I need to reach for. ♫ What do you like most about this song?I really love the beat of the song and the musical arrangement and how the girls handle the vocals. It really conveys the feeling well.

Kalafina Live Report - World Heritage Special  Live @ Nikkô PART 2/2

Now it’s finally about the songs :D

The concert began when the lights were darkened and the musicians took their seats, shortly testing their instruments, namely Sakurada at the piano and the Konno Hitoshi Strings… at the strings. Sakurada started by playing a short solo and Kalafina entered the stage in their super pretty white dresses (especially Hikaru looked great!). At this point, I want to mention (which of course you already know) that all songs were in acoustic version. With no big surprise, Kalafina started the special live with “storia”, which sounds quite different without drums and so on. I have heard this song so often by now that it doesn’t really impress me anymore, but this version really got it right and the Cello – aaah, so cool. Those who read my Live Report of the 9+ONE concert in Kitakyushu know that I found the acoustics in the hall very strange sometimes and often the girls drowned out each other, with Wakana often being uncomfortably loud – this wasn’t the case AT ALL in Nikkô. Maybe because of the trees that carried the echo better than an enclosed room, but the acoustics/the sound were great! You could hear each girl and the instruments perfectly without them interfering with each other. This fact made this concert especially memorable, in my opinion.

Anyway, “storia” was a beautiful introduction, while “Mirai” made me feel… well, the feeling you feel when you hear “Mirai”. The stage was illuminated in purple light and gave it a mysterious touch, quite the contrast to the song which is rather bright but not any less disappointing. But I admit, in acoustic version this song gets cooler and the Strings were again killing it (I apologize, but I might use this phrase more often from now on – because these dudes REALLY killed it with their super string power). Kalafina moved around a bit, going from one side of the stage to another, with happy faces and creating a happy mood. Especially Keiko felt the groove and swung around during the instrumental parts. Since there were no upbeat songs played this time, the crowd sat still the whole time, so I felt quite cold at this point.

News Update

Hi all, I have a bit of a news update for you.

I know I have changed my blog about a million times since I first started it, but I promise almost 100% this will be the last one.

For about a month now, I’ve been working on a new blog on Wordpress.com. I was in the midst of searching for other platforms that I might like more than Tumblr, and when I looked into Wordpress more, I really grew to like it. I find it much easier to use and I enjoy the convenience of a lot of the features available on there.

That being said, I think I will be moving the content that I post to my Wordpress blog. This has been something I have been contemplating over for a while now, but I think it will be easier for me. I will still be providing all the same content, the only difference will be that I will also be posting personal things as well (stuff like anime reviews), so it won’t be only Kalafina posts.

Now, the new blog is: obirun.wordpress.com

I’m still going to keep this destination-kalafina blog around because I like seeing everyone’s updates and talking to the people I’ve been chatting with! I want to continue supporting everyone’s posts. And I also will be trying to post weekly updates for whatever I post. Sorry if this change will be more of an inconvenience for you guys, but I would appreciate it if you checked this blog out! I really thank everyone who has been supporting me so far ^_^
