THE DEATH OF RASPUTIN PART I: General Impressions, Design, and Concept
Note: This write up has spoilers on top of spoilers with a side of spoilers. But I wanted to share all this because the social media posts from attendees have been pretty generic and not really doing much to hype the show beyond "everyone wears black and we ride the ferry!"
The short, totally spoiler-free version is this -- I have not seen any kind of immersive theater this well-crafted, this unique, this clever in many, many years. From the direction to the performances to the design to the marketing to the location, it's all working. Why? Because it's fun. Believe it.
For a long time I've been feeling pretty bummed out by immersive theater in general and completely uninspired to make any kind of "serious" art myself. Historically, immersive theater was THE thing that gave me direction and focus in my personal artwork, ask just about anyone who knows me. But I left The Death of Rasputin vibrating with the residual energy of the show. I haven't been this excited by a new piece of art in a long time. That's entirely thanks to the incredible team who conceived, built, perform, and run this show. If you are in or anywhere near New York City this month, get tickets to this thing immediately.
Read on for a totally spoilery account of my time in the Winter Palace, but don't say I didn't warn you.
---
General Impressions:
The Death of Rasputin is everything immersive theater should be. It's surprisingly funny, at times downright ridiculous. It's also deeply tragic, the specter of the Great War and the subjugation of the working class by the Russian elites are ever present. It's intense; you may be invited to conspire with the leaders of the revolution, or surrender to ecstatic shared rituals led by Grigori Rasputin himself.
There is an urgency and a fervor to The Death of Rasputin. It felt at times like being in caught up in a great storm, tossed around between scenes of debauchery and wild celebration in the face of impending destruction. Sometimes I felt like I was in the eye of that storm, where quiet insight began to put things in perspective.
It is, as I said above, exceedingly well-crafted.
First of all, regardless of whether Governors Island was their first pick of venue, it's kind of a genius move having the show out there. There's something really special about having to cross a body of water, having to go on a collective journey, to get to the show. The ferry is like a liminal space all its own -- to be among a small army of people all dressed in black on a boat crossing a river, travelling literally from the real world to the world of the show, it's brilliant. Practical and necessary, yes. But also something completely unique to DoR and adds to the whole experience.
I was curious how they would differentiate between the audience and performers. But I thought DoR's all-black dress code was an easy way to separate the guests from the characters, and it invites a sense of participation before you even set foot on Governor's Island. (I had a really cool outfit, at least I thought so, and not a single photo to prove it.) I also think removing the sense of anonymity that a masked show can give encourages better audience behavior, more politeness, even though it means everyone can see everyone else's various face journeys the whole time.
In the weeks leading up to my trip up to New York, it was important to me to avoid spoilers for the show itself. So there was some mild concern in the back of my mind when I heard from multiple sources that DoR features a lot of interactivity. I was worried they were going to make me solve puzzles; I'd been to a couple smaller interactive-y immersive shows where the whole point was solving riddles and code cracking. Maybe that's fine for some people but it is decidedly not my thing. My brain shuts down when I'm put on the spot like that and I end up having a terrible time. But I can now report with full confidence that no one in DoR made me solve a single puzzle, and honestly thank god. However, I will say that I had an incredibly awkward moment when one of the performers asked me to waltz with her. My heart said yes, but my body said fuuuck no. She was very nice to me though, so I felt like I had to. And because of a sense of goofiness threaded throughout the show, feeling like a huge dork was fine because there were other people being just as dorky just across the room.
A big bonus for me was the 90 minute run time. Apparently other people aren’t as into this as I am. One of the creatives told me after the show and that people have been telling them that the show should be three hours long and have three hour-long loops like Punchdrunk's work does. I guess because that's what most immersive fans are used to. But I say no thank you to that, I am in my late 30s and being on my feet running around and standing for three hours is something my body no longer easily recovers from. And because of the pacing and high energy of DoR pretty much from top of show, I can’t imagine the performers would want to be going at that speed for three hours, repeating the same level of intensity over and over in one night.
A very minor issue I had as someone who isn't super tall was getting stuck behind people. It was usually easy enough to creep along the edges of the room to find a break in the crowd, but sometimes I found myself wishing there were levels, like maybe some low platforms to help out people stuck in the back. But the rooms in the performance space generally aren't large enough to accommodate this, so it's not a huge deal breaker.
Going in, I had the impression for some reason, not sure why, that there weren't any 1:1s. Apparently there are a few, or so I hear, but they're not the point of the show the way they became for Sleep No More, etc. The weekend crowd I saw the show with was generally pretty chill and seemed to be a mix of people who were super into it and knew the ropes and people who looked like this might have been their first immersive show ever. Creating different kinds of opportunities and ways for audiences to enjoy this show, either as an active participant (to an extent) or purely as an observer, or somewhere in between, was really smart on the creators' part. It lowers the stakes for the audience, there's less fear of missing out, and so people can chill out, be present, and just enjoy the show and the company of their fellow audience members for a change.
Speaking of being present, I realized later that for once I didn't spend the whole time thinking about the mechanics of the show. I wasn't anxious about being in the way, I wasn't worried about being in the right place at the right time, I didn't have to plan ahead in order to maximize my experience. At Punchdrunk shows, I was always thinking two or three steps ahead to be close to the right exit or in the best spot to get the best view of a specific scene. At Life and Trust, which I only saw once, I was too aware of the structure and cues built into the sound and lighting design. But at The Death of Rasputin, something or maybe a combination of things happened early on to get me out of my head that allowed me to relax and trust the show and trust my intuition in an unfamiliar space.
Oh, and there's merch! From totes and posters to custom jewelry and character inspired fragrances, they're adding new stuff all the time. I grabbed a sticker pack but have yet to stick them anywhere -- my inner 90s kid covets stickers and must find the absolute most perfect place for them before I remove them from their sheets can you tell this is why I am the way I am??
---
The Design:
The set design is, in my opinion, just enough. It serves the story without distracting from it. The magical touches don't take away any focus from the narrative but rather enhance it. During an impassioned sermon and group breathing exercise in Rasputin's Siberian cottage, at one point he looked up, so I looked up too, and the ceiling was covered in dangling crystals, hanging just over our heads like melting snow or stars. The bar is dressed in well-worn textiles and propaganda of the revolution, and is bathed in a wash of red from the hanging paper lanterns. There is a military outpost, a chapel, palace rooms, and a grand ballroom. Apparently there is a secret passage way somewhere. Here and there I noticed a few subtle room scents, another nice detail and perhaps familiar to SNM fans. Maybe they don't have the biggest budget in the world, but they're really doing a lot with the small space they have.
Immediately upon entering the show, you can hear multiple scenes happening simultaneously. Even in the bar when the first crowd enters the show, you can hear their footsteps overhead which was a cool moment, everyone left in the bar in a lingering dead silence and just the sound of creaking floorboards over a low drone. But upstairs the walls aren't always flush to the ceiling and the people of Petrograd have a lot of problems and a lot of feelings, so there's quite a lot of sound bleed. At first, I was concerned this would be majorly distracting but after a while I grew used to it. I also can’t say enough good things about the sound design itself; like the set design it's not obtrusive, it's there to enhance the story and the overall vibes. Because the sound was designed by the GOAT Stephen Dobbie, it's got all the things I love: drones, period and culturally appropriate music, ticking clocks, heartbeats, and naturally the occasional electronic club track. And after the finale, everyone walks back down to the bar to, what else, "Rasputin" by Boney M.
Similarly, the costume design is a combination of pieces suggestive of the various Russian social classes in the early 20th century and things that are more modern and intended to evoke certain moods or personality traits rather than aim for total historical accuracy. And this is maybe the only immersive show these days where that works. The production isn't taking itself too seriously so the designers are given room to have fun and take some much appreciated creative liberties.
---
The Story/Concept/Writing:
The Death of Rasputin is a satire, possibly it could even be called a dark comedy. It's smart without being pretentious, and relevant without being too obvious. The humor in the show ranges from subtle to outrageous and back again. There are also moments that are staggeringly heartbreaking. And regarding the story itself, I imagine if someone walked into this show with zero prior knowledge about this corner of history they would probably be able to piece it together. I'd just finished Unobscured's fourth season, which is ten episodes specifically about Rasputin, the Romanovs, Russia's part in WWI, and a little about the early days of the Russian Revolution, so I felt pretty prepared. I definitely recommend it to anyone like me, i.e. anyone who actually enjoys doing a little homework before going to an immersive show.
That said: DO NOT expect this show to be a history lesson. I just came across a random blog review where the author's main take away was that they didn't learn anything. Who goes to immersive theater to learn things?? It baffles the mind.
I'd be curious to know how much of the dialogue in DoR is scripted. There are some wonderful monologues that must be, but there's so much room for improv because of the high level of interaction between the performers and the audience. The characters constantly break the fourth wall to the point I don't even think there is one to begin with. The audience is very much there, we are present at these events and with these characters. They see us just as much as we see them. I wasn't sure I'd like this much interactivity, but it's just the right amount. You might be asked to carry or hold or wear something, read aloud something written, hide (prop) explosives, or any number of similarly easy tasks.
The mix of historical figures and constructed characters is interesting. Most of the characters were real people. But then there are the three characters who represent the working class. These characters had to have been almost entirely created from scratch, and what a fun and fascinating exercise that must have been. I would love to know how much of Katya, Fyodor, and Petra were already on the page and how much was from what the actors brought to the table. But tbh that's probably true across the board because even the historic characters are clearly not intended to be 100% true to life for the sake of the story the creators are trying to tell, and I mean that in the best way possible.
Oh, uhh, the show is, like, way hornier than I was expecting. I mean, yeah, typically there's some sexy stuff in this style of immersive show, and in this case… it's about Rasputin, historically a very horny man. I made the mistake of sitting right next to the chair where Lohktina puts Rasputin during her ritual in the cottage. O___O Maybe it feels like A Lot because it's a dialogue heavy show so everyone (especially Rasputin, jesus christ) is more vocal. Like… a lot. I've never been borderline uncomfortable in an immersive show because of any kind of sexuality or nudity or whatever, but this came close to making me feel like I should not be there, like this thing happening in front of me should be private?? There was nothing super explicit that I saw, but maybe it's just the vocal nature of the show that makes it feel more… just more lol.
---
I just want to wrap up this first DoR post by saying it was so nice to walk out of an immersive show and feel genuinely surprised and light in a way I haven't in ages. Pretty much every immersive show I've seen has left me feeling devastated or, at least recently, frustrated. Life and Trust left me wanting something else, my last Sleep No More show felt like going to a wake, The Burnt City was hardcore depressing as hell, even Then She Fell wrecked me emotionally. But walking out of the finale of DoR, I felt buoyant for a change, even though the show ends in death and destruction. I think part of it maybe is that the cast is having fun? And that sense of fun is contagious? Maybe I'm speaking out of turn, I didn't speak to many cast members after the show, but it certainly seems that way.

★ o amor não deu certo pra gente.
thiago fritz x leitora
Tumblr media Tumblr media

OMG I ONLY SAW THIS NOW. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!! THANK YOU 🫶🫶🫶
hello!! long time no see!! i've been a bit away from this blog but saw you were back and ooooh i 🫶 your writing so ofc i'm back for a little ask — another oc ship if it's not a problem, i just really liked the first one!!
her name is susanna malloy, "the librarian", she's in her early 30s (fc is elizabeth debicki). she's a supe as in has powers, but not a superhero in terms of branding; her powers are that she can read the history of any object (only objects, not people) by touching it. she never actually tried getting into supe life, instead she had an antique bookshop in the city through her 20s, but after going through a messy divorce like five years ago she decided to pivot and live in a cabin in the middle of the woods.
personality-wise she's a pretty methodical person, but very chaotic in her method; will fixate on organizing something instead of actually getting her shit together. she took all the antique books with her and has them neatly catalogued, the collection taking over her entire house. that's a bit on her power — it drives her crazy to have constant, unknown, random flashbacks by touching random objects, so everything in her house is nearly catalogued and she knows exactly what she's dealing with. she's actually somewhat afraid to leave the house. she also constantly wears gloves she's sewn herself — constant object in her hands, constant story she already knows on the foreground.
her divorce from her ex husband, julian, was for a series of reasons, but if you ask her, she knows she was the problem. she feels incredibly irresponsible if she's not in control, which is most of the time; the books are mainly an outlet for that control and for her to not go crazy. she feels like she's going crazy. all the time. incredibly impulsive, actually, so a lot of her isolation comes from the fact that she feels like it's best for her to not be able to affect anyone else.
so that's where she's at, at the moment: smoking weed and drinking wine in her porch, listening to her massive collection of old records (mostly jazz and 40s-60s pop), obsessively cataloguing her old books, hoarding figurines, and trying to have a little peace and feeling like the world is ending as she obsessively keeps up with the news. the main way i could see someone going after her is if they're searching for information on something (much like the boys went to mesmer for kimiko).
i currently do not have a ship nor any dynamics already thought out for her, so you can go crazy go bonkers!! thanks in advance and i'm glad you're feeling better <3
Thank you so much for your kind words and the request! I hope you like this. ♡
I ship Susanna Malloy with...

Susanna and M.M. meet on a whim. The coup needs to identify the bloodied suit of a deceased Supe, which they believe ties to a Vought conspiracy: especially since nobody can figure out who the Supe is in the first place, even with Annie's snooping around Vought Tower's files. With Susanna's seeming rejection to a "Supe" lifestyle, and her powers, Annie — who'd heard about her on a podcast about small businesses in NYC — suggests they go to her.
M.M. and Annie — the calmest and most persuasive of the coup — visit Susanna's cabin. It starts out very, very awkward. Considering Susanna is a recluse, and was never really entrenched in anything Supe-related, she's hesitant to get involved with Vought drama, especially when the coup's faces have been broadcasted everywhere on T.V. and the Internet. Still, though, M.M. and Annie's gentle nature convince her to open her door.
They all get comfortable in her living room, with M.M. and Annie both keeping their tones professional. They tell her of a major Vought cover-up concerning a dead Supe, bringing out the suit, and asking Susanna if she can help them.
When she is overwhelmed by the brutal last memories of the Supe, both M.M. and Annie comfort her. While Annie is an A-plus comforter, M.M. — who has long since been tortured by his memories — is able to connect with her in a way no one has been able to in a long, long time.
After she's calmed down, they thank her for her help and M.M. offers her a business card (yes, the coup has those, they keep things professional) and the two tell her that if she ever needs anything, she can come to them, and that they will keep the entire meeting confidential outside the coup.
It's not the end, though; the coup and Susanna keep in touch in the following weeks regarding the investigation, and eventually, he invites her to the safe-house to get their ducks in a row. Through this, M.M. begins to get to know Susanna a lot more, and like her quite a lot. However...
M.M. does not want to make things unprofessional, and tries his best to hide his feelings. It isn't until Susanna invites him to her cabin for a glass of wine and some music after they have a heart-to-heart about their rituals and obsessions that he starts getting to know her on a personal level.
It's nice; really, really nice. When they're there, they're able to talk about everything and everyone, and it's like a weight has been lifted off of M.M.'s chest. They talk about their interests, their hobbies, their loved ones, their former marriages.
After that, they continue seeing each other, and M.M. becomes visibly happier as their relationships progress (queue a crude comment from Butcher, though he isn't up-to-date on who exactly "the missus" is). M.M. doesn't want to rush things, so they keep it casual: dinner at each other's places, smoke sessions on her porch (though M.M. abstains, as he can green out from one hit), and enjoying wine together.
By the fourth month of doing this, M.M. decides he wants to give a relationship with her a shot; he's legit head-over-heels for her, so when he's leaving her cabin after a smoke session (to make it less awkward if he says no), he asks if she'd like to go with him on a date.
So, when Susanna says yes: they have a romantic evening over Susanna's favorite meal that M.M. cooks, and get to know each other even more. After about a month of dating, M.M. gets her flowers and asks if she'd like to be his partner.
This turns into one of the purest relationships ever, 100%. Due to M.M.'s struggles with OCD, he is able to immediately empathize with Susanna, and does everything he can to help alleviate any symptoms of her powers: not touching her stuff, helping her organize if she ever needs help, and calming her down.
Also, M.M. loves her music taste. While he typically listens to '90s hip-hop and indie rock, he has a soft spot for jazz and doo-wop, since his family played it when he was young. Though, as mentioned, he doesn't smoke, he enjoys sitting with Susanna on her porch, listening with her to her records while enjoying wine with her.
He would 100% gift her wine and records that are along her tasting when he goes out. He's a gentleman.
The two would also have a lot of nice dates in secluded spaces, just to make sure that Susanna isn’t exposed to too many stressors: canoeing, perusing small bookstores and record stores in rural New York, etc.
There would be issues, of course, considering Susanna’s tendency to isolate, but I believe the two would have enough maturity to work through the problems, with M.M. even suggesting therapy for the both of them with a 100% confidential therapist to deal with their respective issues. I can’t see either of them going to bed angry at each other.
Susanna's complicated relationship would be something M.M. relates to, and is able to get her to open up about. M.M. sees his separation with Monique as his fault; after all, it was him who kept running back to Billy Butcher only to land her in a safe-house fearing for her and her child's life, and he takes responsibility for the harm he's caused. Susanna feeling the same way gives him a bit of comfort.
But, because of that, he tries his best to keep her as separated from his work life as possible, not wanting to hurt her. While he knows she's strong and already a Supe, he fears hurting her in the same way as he hurt Monique, and he tries to avoid that as much as he can.
Still, considering their relationship was borne from a relationship with the coup, M.M. doesn’t hide it as much as he would with a civilian; he would just try to keep her out of any trouble, and always puts a full-stop, foot-down to Butcher trying to use her as a tool for information.
Whenever it’s fine for her to come over, he’d have her there, and would definitely be happy when she gets along with them.
And that brings us to…
The Boys ☻
Tumblr media
GIF Source: @cleastrnge ★ (link)
As a whole, The Boys would all like Susanna a lot; they wouldn’t be super close, excluding one member in particular, but they’d all enjoy her company and personality. It’s pretty refreshing; Susanna is a bit like a chiller version of M.M. when she stops by, and is able to complement him extremely well.
Despite Butcher's hatred of Supes, he actually really likes Susanna — something very, very rare. Not only is she useful, but her lack of interest in Supedom and her chaotic nature really pulls him to her.
And... he would probably develop some feelings for her, but would never recognize them as such; partially because of his lack of emotional intelligence, partially because he does not see himself as capable of loving a Supe.
So, with that in mind, all their interactions are purely platonic; he tries getting her out to pubs and other night scenes, but if she's uncomfortable with that (let's be real, even if she's wearing gloves, there's a lot of shit that's stressful about being in those environments) he'd be happy to just sit and banter with her over drinks (Susanna's wine, Butcher's hard whiskey on the rocks).
Annie and her would be friends; not best friends by any means, but Annie would adore Susanna's personality and how disconnected she was from Vought and general Supedom. As we know, Annie's been paraded around supes her whole life, and meeting someone who's also powered yet was able to avoid the pain, narcissism, and trauma that comes from that would be special for her.
She’d invite her to her apartment to just hang out and watch corny movies whenever they had a bad day over wine and crackers. Susanna got some bad memories? Do not fear, Annie is here, and she has an extensive catalogue of ‘90s B-side comedies.
Kimiko would be her closest friend in the groups, 100%, hand on my chest, honest to God. It was actually a tie between her and M.M. and it was so, so hard for me to choose. It might take a bit for them to start communicating, but once they did, they'd become very good friends. Kimiko is tortured by her past as what is essentially a weaponized Supe, and is haunted by the unwanted memories that come with that; considering Susanna is plagued with constant flashes whenever she touches an object, Kimiko would sympathize with her and have sweet conversations with her.
She'd regularly seek Susanna out whenever she comes to the safehouse, and once they are able to form a way of communicating with each other steadily, she’d invite her to hang out with her often; watching movies and cartoons (Kimiko, an artist, loves old cartoons where you can tell it was drawn frame-by-frame), painting, and even smoking. Kimiko hadn’t smoked until Susanna, but likes it a lot as a social activity.
Frenchie and Hughie would probably be the ones she is least closest to, but not in a bad way. Frenchie would love her relationship with Kimiko and would talk with her on-and-off, but wouldn’t have an immediate “click” with her unless he heard her records or joined her for a smoke session.
Hughie, on the other hand, likes Susanna a lot, and actually hangs out every so often with her and Annie. However, as we know, he’s an awkward guy, so he’d occasionally struggle to find a rhythm in their conversations without a buffer.
All-in-all: M.M. loves her, and The Boys love her. I could definitely see her getting more involved with the coup if she ever felt the drive to. That’s an A+ in my book, friend.

do you have any requests you’re currently working on? 👀
yes!!!! all of them are the lovely ships i've been sent <3 i'm not gonna lie i did forget about them for a hot minute because packing for college is draining the life out of me but i want to make them as special as possible :))
plus there are some hcs in my head that i might queue after the ships since those are a priority atm!!

hello hello!! hope you're doing well <3 so i saw ships were open again... and i did get one as an anon a while ago, but the format has changed for the 10k so back i am for your amazing writing <3
i'd love to be shipped with someone from the boys!! (i do feel bad requesting for specific characters even though it's incredibly easy to see who i want to smooch in this show. i love them all though and above all love to see authors get creative. go crazy go bonkers. ok with any character but the deep, homelander, stormfront, and firecracker.)
i'm a bi & ace jewish brazilian girl, 1.72m tall, with long, straight, brown hair (that i've always thought about dying but always chickened out of). no tattoos, even though i have a list of which ones i'd get and what do they mean. i'm from brazil but currently go to college in new york, majoring in theatre and minoring in translation. i'm fluent in portuguese and english, learning french, and have the life objective of becoming a polyglot.
i'm in love with theatre, literary analysis, linguistics, music, writing, and art in general — will absolutely ramble about anything i am interested in, and also might have strong opinions on stuff that maybe i didn't need to have a strong opinion on 💀 i can get a bit combative about that at times... i definitely take as my biggest skill, besides singing and acting which are quite literally my intended job (i want to be a musical theatre actress), eloquence and just my way with words (toxic trait is believing i'd talk my way out of a murder fr fr). friends that know me more recently would even say i'm an extrovert because of that, but honestly i am a pile of nerves of an introvert with social anxiety that simply loves yapping and putting on a show. most notable quirk/habit might be how precise i always am with finding the right words because i simply cannot leave an opening for misinterpretation (and that's on anxiety and a suspicion of undiagnosed adhd oops); that might lead me to be a bit picky (for the lack of a better word), specific, and/or literal with the words other people use as well.
other tidbits: i can't cook for shit, i love cats (i have a rescue named lily) but also like dogs a lot, i love kids and have been told i'm good with them. i'm crazy lucky for some reason and i love crime comedy movies. i'm almost always writing or thinking about writing but i can't ever finish a project (and you may have realized by now i write too much). i love arts & crafts & other manual activities, i do knot friendship bracelets to de-stress. my default hangout with anyone ever is grabbing coffee. i'm also pretty proud of my music taste — from alt rock to 40s-50s music, love curating the vibes and i'm a bit of a playlist freak. also i would 100% show brazilian music (mostly rock and mpb, brazilian popular music) to whoever i'm paired with 💥🇧🇷
when it comes to love life oh boy i am a disaster — the two situations i have ever gotten myself into were the objective hottest girl i know and the weirdest guy i've ever come across (and both are my good friends atm). for me doing something creative, like a project together, is the quickest way to bond; and being in cahoots with someone is the deepest form of connection. let's ramble about our interests, be weird together, cause a diplomatic crisis, watch a movie, write something, idk.
this was LOOONG but i hope it's not too much and it gives you plenty of material to write with!! thank you so much for carrying the the boys fandom on your back enna <3

Annie is actually blown away by both your love of and intelligence with languages. She's always trying to learn both Portuguese and French sayings (mostly nicknames/"I love you") to surprise you. She loves the look of joy on your face when you realize what she's trying to say. Her pronunciation could use some work, but it's still very adorable
It melts Annie's heart when she sees you around children. She knows it can be a lot, with kids and their parents running up to her, asking her for pictures, showing off their Starlight costumes. She would understand it got a little exhausting. But you have never minded, instead you ask them questions and make them laugh, telling them they're little superheroes, too
Annie feels like she can truly be herself around you. After all those years with the religious conventions and the time she spent with Vought, she was never allowed to be herself. She couldn't show off her real laugh that's squeaky and high-pitched. She couldn't swear as a teenager or say all the crude jokes she thought of. With you, though, she can let loose. She doesn't have to uphold this image like she's had to her whole life
You and Annie are as equally terrible at cooking. You make a plan to cook together, learning recipes and measurements. Sometimes the food gets burned, or worse, under cooked, and a few times you've had to split it out, wondering where you went wrong? But, overall, it builds your skills together and it makes you feel better about your lack of skills
Annie comes to every show you're in at least three times. She'll bring Hughie and Kimiko first, then M.M. and Frenchie, and the third time she goes along, wanting to see you in your glory, feeling like this moment belongs to her. She shows up with flowers every time and tells you parts and songs she's loved as if you hadn't spent weeks practicing lines and songs with her. She's so proud of you, she can't contain herself. She definitely happy cries at the end when you take your bows!
Want to request a ship?
My love!!!! I hope you like it!!!! :D Xoxoxo💜💜💜💜

VERÔNICA DAUMAS
The Boys OC / Human / Private eye / The Boys affiliated
If you ask Verônica Daumas, having an obsession can be weirdly therapeutic. Nights spent awake are moments of deep introspection. Piles and piles of documents, photographs, records are akin to a collection of something simple like, I don't know, bottle caps or pins. The sprawling out of the investigation through the walls of her tiny apartment is simply renewing the decor. Searching for something happening in the background, whatever that is, is having a greater purpose — and who doesn't want that? Who wouldn't miss that?
So when, five years after having abandoned her investigation, Verônica is called back to work by those she used to call a team — why would she say no?
Tumblr media
“What did he call you?” “Enxerida do caralho.” “What does it mean?” “Nosy bitch.” “Eh. Can't say he's wrong on that one.”
Verônica Daumas is a Brazilian expat in New York, working under the radar as a private eye for the underworld of the city. Want some information you can't obtain through legal means, to take even less legal measures? Call V. DAUMAS, PRIVATE EYE — “I fuck around, you find out.”
After all, a woman has to make a living after losing everything, several times — whether the schemes in Rio she left behind, or her attempt to get a legit job in New York that burned to the ground (literally), or the team that was disbanded with a tragic conclusion.
Her investigative abilities are what made her a valuable asset; first to Grace Mallory — the promise of a visa, legit documents, and the erasure of her criminal record, led her to join her team to bring down Vought International —, and later to Billy Butcher — when putting the team back together, they couldn't forget their local nosy bitch, could they?
However, her utter lack of loyalty can make Verônica a liability — she won't hesitate to run away, which has been proven time and time again by the amount of things and people in her life she has left behind. Her uncanny ability to get away with things and save her own ass comes at the direct expense of the others' asses.
Of course, she has to reevaluate her loyalties (or lack thereof) when the operations of The Boys become more dangerous than ever, the stakes are higher, and the connections between them are stronger. Maybe she has to stay and face her fucking problems for once instead of running away. Maybe there are people worth staying for.

My loves!!!! This is so wild!!! THANK YOU!!! Thank you for supporting me and my silly writing. Thank you for the likes, and reblogs, and especially the comments (it's embarrassing how much I reread them lol). Thank you for being here and loving The Boys/Gen V as much as I do :) I don't want to get too sappy lol, but writing has been the one constant in my life since I started this blog. It's gotten me through the worst times in my life and I know, no matter what, I can always come back to it regardless of how long it's been and find so many of my friends like no time has passed!!! I want to show my love by opening up ships again, but this time they're gonna be a little different (in a good way!!!) Please be sure to read the rules and remember all requests are open!!! Xoxoxo❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙
RULES:
Only one ship per person - I wanna make sure it’s fair for everyone and that I have time for everyone :)
These ships are only for the The Boys and Gen V fandom!- It’s what I feel inspire to write right now, so any other fandoms will not be written for with these ships!
Specify! - Please specify which fandom you'd want to be paired with, gender you'd want to be paired with, and, if it is an issue, who you don't want to be shipped with (ex: I'd love a ship from Gen V, for any character, just not Cate Dunlap)
Please be kind! - I am one person who is doing this to show my love and appreciation for the fandom as well as the people who are constantly supporting my silly writing. Please remember to be kind when requesting and please try not to make demands, if that makes sense? I love doing ships, but sometimes the attitudes around them can turn something fun into something discouraging and quickly lead to burnout
SHIPS ARE OPEN: August 24th -> September 3rd
ANYTHING SENT AFTER WILL BE DELETED UNLESS SPECIFIED OTHERWISE!
WHAT TO INCLUDE:
The most important thing would be to include what gender/s you’d want to be shipped with and if you want The Boys, The Seven, Gen V or either/no preference to be paired with! I wouldn’t want to ship anyone with a character they’re personally uncomfortable with :) I will 100% respect your request!
Because these are going to be aesthetics, I think the most important things to include are what you look like, your personal style, personality, type of people you typically like/date, favorite things about yourself, interests, hobbies, favorite books, movies, bands, animals, harry potter house, favorite places, dream jobs/homes/lifestyle/future, pet peeves, etc. Basically anything that you find unique to you! Things that can't really be put into aesthetics are things like mental health issues, etc. so please try to limit that kind of information.
WHAT WILL IT INCLUDE:
Because these ships are going to be different from the last ones, I want to keep it a surprise, but just know it'll include an aesthetic of your relationship and maybe even a little blurb of writing!
PLEASE REMEMBER:
I’ve done this before under the #johnnyshellby-ships / #jammesbarnnes-ships / #kaitbishop-ships (my old urls) so I’m gonna tag this #hughiecampbelle10k-ships in case you’d want to block it for any reason!
I’ll try to get to these asap and they’ll be posted between other posts and requests, but please understand I am one person so they might take some time! Xoxoxo❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙
