Despite the best of efforts, a two hot tears betrayed him and slid down his face. Luckily the rain hid it well. Only he would know his secret shame. Crying over Desaad after all he had done.
Wally shook his head, hands balling into fists and trembling at his side.  âNoâŠI didnât want thisâŠâ His jaw clenched tighter, thinking back on the many interactions theyâd had. The small and welcome bits of praise. The sense of normalcy Desaad had helped him achieve. Normalcy heâll most likely never have again.
âYou hurt everyone I care aboutâŠAfter everythingâŠI still meant nothingâŠ.I was just a toolâŠâ
Wally took in a shaky breath as his arm began to vibrate until it was nearly invisible. Â
âIâll make it quickâŠâ Â
With that, he phased his arm through Desaadâs chest. Closing his eyes, the speedster turned his head, and stopped his arm.
âGAGHH...!!â
Desaadâs hands fell on Wallyâs arm and his head lulled forward.
The speedforce had been quickly drained from his body, trying madly to heal wounds that nothing could undo. His body had shrunk back down to its relative diminutive stature. Each last breath shook him to his liquefied core.
He heaved quietly through his blood, though he found no organs left with which to cough.
   âIt....  was....â
 â ...always....â
â....more...â
With the last of his strength, he placed a bony hand on Wallyâs face. His empathetic powers had never worked in reverse before he was granted the ability through the speedforce. Before they met, heâd have never been able to do what he did just then. Right before he died, he embedded his feelings into Wallyâs brain. Pure, unfiltered, bridging all language, cultural, and species barriers they had.
His feelings and goals now digested in a way that a human could understand. One thing was startlingly clear.
Desaad had cared. Heâd been proud. He saw a future for them together, when he could have taken what he wanted from the very beginning. And he regretted, deeply, that he couldnât have brought Wally over to his side willingly.
Coming from a society where everyone was a tool, Wally was a tool that Desaad had prized.Â
His hand slid limply off Wallyâs face, leaving a black handprint in its wake and..
  The God of Torture died.

âBut-â
Sam was gone. Wallyâs head was spinning. Dread and doubt twisted themselves into a tight nest in his stomach. He shouldnât be doing this. He was Khaleb of Earth- - No. He was Wally Desmond and his family was in danger. Desaad had used him. Betrayed his trust. Tortured him.
Wally looked down at his feet. The âgiftsâ Desaad had viciously forced upon him. Anger swelled up into the speedsters chest. One leg insert extended, a harsh yank and a hiss of pain later and it was free.  And then the other.
His former master had been neatly strung up by Sam. A fly indeed. Hot tears pricked at the corners of his eyes at what he was about to do.
Wally took a deep breath and let the world slow down around him. Sparks danced off of the suit and to any anchor point they could find. And then he took off. Dodging Samâs light web was easy enough at this speed. He darted behind Desaad, stabbing him through the gut with the first of the sharp rods. Then he was in front of the alien and slowed himself down before stabbing him in the chest.
For a split second, Desaad stood there. Skewered. And didnât react at all. For the tiniest of moments, it appeared that this was another in a long line of injuries the alien had endured with a shrug.
But no. It was simply the speed at which the wounds had been inflected to explain the delayed reaction.
âGGHK!!â
Something painful popped inside him and black blood spewed from somewhere within the inky depths of his hood. It cascaded down his chest in long inky pumps.
  â..... Kh... Wally...â
He collapsed, still suspended in the air by glittering strings of light.Â
 âHahaha....hhcough... ha...â Â
âI bet... youâve been dreaming of this day since we first met...â
Though it was impossible to see, his face totally obscured, that oily smirk was palpable on his fading voice. Desaad recognizes the sensation of his oncoming death all too well. He just canât believe itâs over already. And after all they went through and all they shared... to be done in by his partner. His ward....
 How Apokoliptian.
âI know how that feels.â

As soon as Sam had his gun trained on Desaad, Wally moved and suddenly had a death grip on the manâs arm. He didnât remember making the decision to do so. The strangeness of it shocked him and he quickly took a step back, dropping Samâs wrist.
He looked towards Desaad and the tortured screams, then at Julian who was still doing crowd control, now covered in blood, and then finally to Albert. His heart tried to leap out of his chest to go hide elsewhere. How shameful. All of this was his fault. Heâd never be able to go home again. Not after such a grand fuck up.
âIfâŠIf I canât do itâŠyou need to stop me.â
 âYou can do it.âÂ
Sam left it at that, taking off and hoping through the nearest window after scooping up the mirror pistol along the way. Reappearing once more, up high. The Mirror Master crouched, holding his aim steady.
One final deep breath, adjust one of the many parts along the barrel. In true Mirror Master fashion, It was lucky he had just the thing for rain.
Finally he pulled the trigger, an artful scattershot of twinkling light dispersed through the droplets in the air, expanding ever outwards in the direction of his target, before finally catching Desaad like a fly in a spiderâs web.
The psychic connection between he and the scarlet speedster was violently severed, painful pricks and needles locked his entire body in place. It was Scudder again.
âDamnit boy! Canât you handle a single- solitary--!â

âGodâs donât make mistakes.â
The Flash twisted backwards and caught the paddle as it raced around the vortex after him. And then he took off. Â
The initial pain was incredible but this certainly wasnât the first time heâd had this much electricity coursing through him. Just channel it. Make it your own. Â
Wally vibrated at the same frequency as the current and he could feel it becoming his. The boost of energy gave him what he needed to rip the paddle from Desaadâs chest piece with a mechanical clatter and a loud zzzZZZap.
Once it was free, the speedster turned on his heel and was almost instantly in front of the villain swinging the paddle at his head before aiming a fist and phasing it into the vibroshocker.
âYou fucked up coming back here.â
The paddle hit the mark like a homerun bat, and the vibro-shocker spewed electrical sparks. Desaad went flying backwards, rolling head over heel before landing flat and skidding face-down along the ground.
Then the vibro-shocker exploded underneath him, billowing smoke spiraled into the air.
silence. It hung in the atmosphere like the clouds, and cut only once it began to rain.
âHahaha....â Right when all seemed to be finally over, a dark, sinister laugh bubbled forth from deep in the dirt.
âHu-Ha-HUEA HAHAHAHA!!â A clawed hand dug into the mud, and the alien righted himself, deranged mania painting a portrait of pure, unfettered glee upon his horrible face.Â

  âHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!â
The explosion had torn right through Desaadâs cloak, exposing a section of marred flesh that was visibly healing at an accelerated rate.
âThanks for the boost, Flash.â Psychic beams joined their minds and Desaad tore into the speedsterâs psyche with every intention of seeing whether or not the purest, unfiltered sensation of PAIN can KILL.

So Desaad had gotten faster since last time. That was unfortunate. Â
The speedster let out a pained, guttural yell after getting hit but it didnât seem to slow him down. He couldnât afford to slow down. In fact, instead of skidding to a halt again, Wally made a wide loop so not to lose any speed. Â
He needed something to attack with first. Give Desaad something to focus on. And then Go for that weapon on his chest. Remove his claws.
As made his way back he began to circle the alien in a vortex, all the while throwing anything he could easily grab at him.
âGrrgh...â Desaad was being made busy smacking projectiles out of the air with his paddles, every collision erupting in a shower of sparks. Laughing at the sport of it all.Â
âA vortex? You FOOL. I can survive in the vacuum of SPACE. IâM A FUCKING. GOD.â
He tossed the paddles into the air and grabbed the cables that attached them to the main power unit. He swung them around and around like a pair of propellers before tossing one into the vortex, the line zzzZzzipped! and disappeared into the wall of wind. Time to catch him a big red fish.

âI donât think so!â
A hoarse voice echoed from somewhere up high. The Mirror Master stood upon the window of a building pointing his mirror pistol down. The left eye of his costume was blacked out with a sunglass lens, but it didnât hide the unholy rage and determination on his face, not even from this distance.
His arm pointed from Desaad, to straight up perpendicular from where he stood, firing upwards, across the street. The Laser bounced from window to window, creating a powerful grid.Â
BBZZZT!! In a blink, the hot beam of light pierced both multiple Inubi and Desaad -Â
âMy shit might not have worked in your lousy trick room, bitch. But youâre in my turf now.â
Several more citizens had been carried to safety. With Alchemy taking care of the monster hybrids and quite literally painting the town red with them, Wally was free to get people out. Â
His organs had healed since being skewered so now all he had to deal with was a flesh wound. Which was manageable. Time to get to the boss. Desaad was going to pay for this. Wally would have Superman so far up that alienâs ass that heâd be reciting the boy scout pledge.
But then there was a brilliant flash of light that caught his attention. And that voice. Â
âWhat the-?â Â
Near perfect teeth split Flashâs face from ear to ear in a grin. Â
âHell yeah! Go Sam!â And then it was his turn. Â
First he ran right past Desaad to gain some distance on more even ground. He skidded to a halt and then took off again with a sonic BOOM and a zap of static in the air. It wasnât enough space to get to his top speed but the punch would definitely break his wrist going this fast even if it was just connecting with stupid alien face. Â
Oh well. Heâd heal.
âARGH!â Scrum, it was all happening fast. That fucking Mirror Master... Suppose it was too much to hope he died from the parting wound to his side.
The hot laser cutting through his shoulder needed to be dealt with- it trapped Desaad in place like a worm on a hook, and a red speedster was coming in fast. Vibro-Shockerâs paddles are whipped out, shiny and metallic enough to deflect the laser- KKRRZT
Then Flash was on him, Desaadâs leg folded up close to his body and he willingly collapsed onto the ground. It all happened in slow motion. Wally ran over the top of him, framed by the billowing folds of purple fabric. Desaad held the vibroshocker on either side. White hot electricity arched suspended in the air. Like a hornetâs sting, Desaad tagged the man in the sides with it.
Rubble was kicked up, the alien jumped to his feet, whipping around to watch the speedsterâs momentum push him onward.
âIâm surprised you fell for that a second time.â

The redhead gasped at the sudden motion and tried his best to shy away from the anger speaking to him. Â
âButâŠheâŠâ Heart and mind were racing. Khaleb shook his head to try and clear it but he just remained torn. However, Desaadâs rage was very persuasive. Â
âI-âŠI-I serve DesaadâŠâ
With fingers shaking in anger, he slowly let the boy go, glaring daggers.
  âGood. Now... Kill them.

Khaleb stumbled with a hiss as Alchemyâs attack caught his shoulder but he couldnât falter. He was so close to Desaad.
âThereâs another m-âŠ.Whoâs that?â Green eyes went wide when he saw Albertâs face. Memories came flooding back to him and the sudden shock of it all put him down on one knee. Â
âNng- âŠ.this-âŠThis isnât supposed to be happeningâŠâ
Desaad rushed over and yanked Khaleb violently to his feet.  âLOOK AT ME.âÂ
His red eyes narrowed, teeth pressed together, hissing, âFOCUS. He is nothing, understand? Nothing! You are Khaleb of Earth, and you serve ME.â

After giving the Alchemist a good firm kick to ensure he stayed down, the alien made his way back to his computer. The molten metal had already been reconstituted, more fuel for his machine. Now if only his General could finish doing away with--
âWHAT??â Desaad saw Khaleb making his way back and growled,  âGet back over there and finish what you started! Do you honestly need my help with every little thing?!â

Alâs head snapped back like heâd been struck with a metal pole.Â
 âHgââ
Reality warped. A black hole opened up underneath and before he even realized what was happening, the doctor fell into the abyss of soupy consciousness.
Foam and blood bubbled out of Albertâs nose and he stood there limply like a doll a brief moment before finally collapsing on the ground. Locked in the deadly thorough of a powerful seizure.
âChildâs play.â  Desaad stepped over the subdued opponent, shaking and choking on his own vomit on the ground. Pathetic.
Brows climbing the torturerâs head, Desaad watched the conflict happening with Khaleb, heaving a sigh.Â
Couldnât that simpleton kill two measly people.

It was simple science, with Albert being the closest most conductive thing touching the ground, ALL that shock raced straight up his legs.Â
  âEEERRAAAG-GH-GH-GAAAHH!!â
Fingers clenching to fists- fighting the current, Doctor Alchemy crossed his arms before throwing them out. The ground vibrated with the violent change from concrete to rubber.
Smoke pouring from the folds of his hood, teeth and wide angry eyes peering out from the blackness like some demon.
  âHhu- Ghuâ KILLâŠ. YOUâŠ!â
Desaadâs arms arched through the air before he placed two confident sets of fingertips against his temples. A sly smirk playing on his cracked lips.
âYouâre quite stupid when youâre angry arenât you? Dull-brained like an animal. I learned that while I was poking around in that delightfully mutated brain of yours.â
The general closed his eyes and focusing. The speedforce flowed through him.

A violent, colorful signal drilled into Albertâs malleable mind. It doesnât matter what it said- only that it was as loud and as chaotic as possible.

Al gripped his head, teeth bared, smoky white eyes widening within the depths of his hoodlette,  âYOUââ
âYou- charlatan. How DARE you take advantage of my family! Iâllâ Iâll kill youâŠ!!â Face etched with rage, Alâs chest puffed up, holding his clawed hands up like he was lifting the sky.
An entire FOREST of deadly spiraling barbed wire snaked up into the the air. His jaw jut out, lips curled to a snarl, Albert wrapped his hands around themselves and swung them over his headâ the jagged strands of iron followed suit like he were holding them.Â
They twisted into an enormous log and crashed down on where the alien stood like a tidal wave of DEATH.
âTemper temper.â But thatâs exactly what Desaad wanted.
Confidently he snatched up a handful of barbed wire out of the air, and before it could all come crashing down on him like the arms of the Kraken, his other hand went for the paddle of the vibro-shocker.
The electricity didnât bother him in the slightest. It activated with enormous intensity, erupting into the ground in a shower of sparks.

âI WOULDNâT GRANT YOU THE PLEASURE!â Alâs fingers jerked through the air like each digit was individually possessed. The ground cracked and glowed beneath his feat, eyes rolling back against his scalp.
Scaffolding echoed and moaned overhead, and suddenly like a giant had come by with a blow torch, a wave of molten metal came crashing down on the alienâs head.
  ârrRRAAGH!!â
In a burst of speed, Desaad zipped out of the way before he could be encased in essentially magma. Neon sparks of electricity whipped right along the ground in his wake. Â
The cloak flapped and he laughed, âYou.... I knew I would have to contest with you eventually.â
Settling to an evil, needle-toothed grin, âSurprised at how quickly I can move...? Well you shouldnât be... After all, youâre the one who taught your son to be so kindhearted and generous... What, letting me stay in your home when I had nowhere else to go.â
His body shimmered and changed, shrinking like a mirage.

âDonât you remember me? Itâs Justeen...â

  âHAHAHAHAHA!!â

Khalebâs stomach twisted at Alâs name. No. That wasnât important. Stick to the plan. Desaadâs plan was the only thing that mattered.
âWho?â He swept a leg out in an attempt to cripple this impostor. The hidden weapon in his leg extended with a thought but metal hit metal as it collided and scraped against a prosthetic limb. Heâd only managed to tear the costume.
With a furious growl, Khaleb instantly clambered to his feet and threw himself at the other speedster to attack again.
âThank God for alien techâ was never a thought Wally thought he would ever have. Yet here he was, very thankful for it since his leg had not just been sliced in half. Â
He jumped back just in time to see his nightmare self run towards him to attack.
âJesus I donât have time for this.â Â
Among the many differences between them, was that this other speedster had never fought Wonder Woman. With a slight crouch, The Flash caught his assailant on his shoulder and in one fluid motion, used the other Wallyâs momentum against him, tossing him over his shoulder and into one of the winged beasts.
Desaad turns from his busywork at the newly infrastructure in irritation. He can sense the conflict in Khalebâs mind-- and damn it all he lost the helmet already.
<<< Damnit Khaleb, remember what I taught you. >>>
The beastly creature watched from afar as the speedsters zipped around. With a growl, his hand slowly drifted into the air... Concentrate...
A beam of plasma arched through sky and plummeted down on the Flash, worming into his brain, pain unlike anything his mere human mind could comprehend.
âKILL HIM KHALEB. FOR APOKOLIPS. FOR ME.â

Deep in the heart of Central city along an unsuspecting street, the ground suddenly cracks. All the windows along the street reverberate as a single solitary BOOM drowns out all other sounds. Cars screech to a halt, bystanders cover their heads in fear - is it an explosion? Â
 Unfortunately itâs much worse.
A hot white circular portal rips through the air right in the middle of the road. It opens wide, unleashing a terrible noise as it grows.
 Then...

 The unspeakable happens.
Desaad revels in the tiny people running for their lives, watching his newly grown army make speedy work. Scaling buildings, creating utter chaos! He places a mechanical device into the dirt, it blinks like a bomb, but instead of exploding- it takes root and begins to slowly spread along the ground. His technical marvels at work. The device integrated any and all material it could pull into itâs starving gob, reconstructing it into his own design. Red circuitry crawled along the black metal, setting off with a gentle red glow. Given the right amount of time and cultivating, this seed would eventually reconstitute the entire city.
A flash of Orange light caught his eye and Desaad stood up straight, turning on Khaleb.Â
  âStart rounding up the people.â

The wolf-parademon hybrids had all been reconstituted properly the previous night. They still sat there waiting patiently in the bunker for their orders. Desaad decided to call them The Inubi, after all... A fresh breed of soldier needed a fresh title.
Appraising them now, silent commands were signaled directly to their brain. He placed Khaleb into their primary protocols as second in command, followed quickly by preliminary instructions for the invasion.Â
First order of business is to subdue any self-proclaimed Heroes or Otherwise who would be there to stop them. The civilians and infrastructure could wait.
The soldiersâ many insectoid eyes and wings glistened and twittered in the darkness. Mandibles twitching for blood.
 Good.
 Today was the day.

He hit the floor and this time Khaleb didnât hesitate in his movements. He swept his leg across the floor to knock Desaad off balance.
âI have more or less unlimited power. Why spare it?â Â
Desaad very purposefully dug his feet in and let the leg catch him in the shins, halting Wallyâs momentum like a stubborn post.
Khalebâs hand was snatched off the floor and he was pulled up roughly to his feet like a toddler.
âBecause even unlimited things can be stopped. If you were as powerful as you say, youâd have conquered this planet already on your own. But you havenât. Why? Because you never wanted to.â
âYou must learn to analyze situations before confidently running headlong into them. You must swing your arm to build momentum before striking your opponent. Even if you care little for the ramifications of your actions, there is still a quantifiable space between you and your goals that must be accounted for! Even if you are capable of crossing those distances much quicker.â
