🌟gary only hcs here🌟

here’s my take on these two. not really proofread please forgive any mistakes 👍

🌟— no matter what, gary is destined to break away from the crown one way or another; while david is doomed to spiral into tyranny so long as he latches onto it. 👑

🌟— the brothers have never been particularly close. as far as they’re both concerned, that’s just…. some guy who shares blood (…or soundwaves? whatever is synthos’ equivalency to being blood-related) and grew up with under the same roof.

🌟— i can see their parents not being very involved w their upbringing and pushing the responsibility onto caretakers around the palace instead. maybe they share one mom but have different dads? not sure. i dont have a lot for them rn sorry 

🌟— there’s not a whole lot these two can look back on fondly— what few good memories they shared is easily overshadowed by their clashing. at best, david hoped to find a role model in his big brother and… tried to be nice about his reservations on being future king once upon a time, but even that gradually fizzled out as they got older. doesn’t help gary suddenly went total no-contact for the next two centuries. (to give a rough timeframe, gary ran off when he was probably around 16) 

🌟— david is definitely not untalented by any means, but was never one to venture out of his creative comfort zone. gets frustrated at people who do & makes it their problem— theres probably some level of jealousy there. he overcompensates by being a stickler for the rules, if he keeps doing everything right (unlike a certain someone else) surely he’d gain more respect, right? this totally worked out great! /s 

🌟— putting his controlling + egocentric streak aside… david can be a friendly, charming individual! a little quirky here and there. likes receiving outlander visitors. he seemed disappointed when skips & co told him they weren’t going to stick around for long and was down to help them correct the synth’s patch up until he found out whose it was 😭 

🌟— for obvious reasons, david doesn’t have any real friends. he likes to call his guards his friends and they kinda put up with it out of fear of offending him 

🌟— being a fag runs in the family i’m afraid /hj- what do you mean david was immediately enraptured by skips’ bare pecs (real answer probably is he just liked seeing things that remind him of himself in others, BUT i like to think he was gay 🏳️‍🌈 alongside it)

🌟— david was always frustrated by gary’s lack of competency when it came to following structure, always felt like he had to coax him into not skipping out on anything, never understood why he had such cold feet (and gary could never find to the words to explain how he feels-) over being next in line to take the throne. gareth had all the admiration & respect, it was him the people wanted as king, shouldn’t that have made him happy if anything? all this made david feel justified in making all the decisions he would after he took gary’s place as king.

🌟— some of that bitterness lingered for centuries… and flared up in full force when gary came back. imagine your good for nothing brother who ditched his responsibilities in favor of doing god knows what suddenly shows up and has the nerve!!! to challenge your right to the throne!!!! david doesn’t get why anyone would still prefer gareth over him, who actually has been doing the work to maintain their planet!! 

🌟— while gary had always been a bit of an odd one out for as long as he could remember, it wasn’t necessarily frowned upon at the time he was growing up? some thought of him as a weird outlier (…ouch), others recognized great potential in him- as expected of the crown prince to have a way with music! (get away from him💔)

🌟— for all gary cared, david could have the crown since he liked yapping about it. it would be better for synthos to be ruled by someone who was more dutiful than he was, right?? nobody tell baby gary what happens 200 yrs later-

🌟— gary probably briefly knew robert and keith (the two discordants david arrested in gary’s synth) at some point during childhood, in one of the many instances he was out and about with his synth instead of tending to royal obligations. they hold a great deal of admiration for him that they would keep holding onto, but we all know being deified and seen as a mere extension of the royal family made gary’s skin crawl. i don’t know if he ever even liked them.

🌟— in general, gary never had any friends back home. he had a hard time connecting with other synths bec there would always be a note of reverence in the way they address him. even post-abdication, gary feels like they’ll never truly see themselves as “equal” to him and it’s frustrating. so yeah, better to leave them to their own devices than try to mingle with them. he likes the friends he has right now better anyways. 

🌟— gary promised himself he would one day return home once he “felt ready”. thing is… the more time he spent away, the more he realized he found joy in discovering himself at his own pace, the less willing he was to return. which made him feel like shit whenever he let his thoughts wander too far. while yes he meant it when he said you can’t rock with rules, deep down he needed that burden off his shoulders once and for all (not that he felt great about it, even after all was said & done. wasn’t sure why renouncing the crown didn’t make him feel any better.)

🌟— i dont think either of them dwell too hard on what could have been. might be a fleeting thought here and there; david thinks they could’ve gotten along better if only gary wasn’t so adamant about running from his responsibilities (unfortunately david’s sense of inadequacy wld still fuck things over 👍). for gary, seeing family members mingling about (skips & quips, for example) sometimes leads him to wonder if it was ever possible for him and david to be close like that. there might be at least one universe out there where they share a positive relationship, which i may or may not expand on another time

🌟— if i were to make a king gareth au, he initially would try his best to fulfill his role buuut eventually retreat into the shadows, letting david take the spotlight. david pretty much just let gareth squat at their palace ever since while he rules with an iron fist, only dragging the latter along if his presence is needed. gary can never escape the looming sense of failing to live up to what everyone expected of him & the suffocating tension he shares with his brother. david’s resentment creeps up to a boiling point as people keep asking about/for gareth, forever reminded he’s tied to That Man whether he likes it or not. only time will tell how long these 2 can tolerate this living arrangement before one of them tries to kill the other 😭😭😭

hey i messed up bad/10 and need some help

hey so i need some help i REALLY fucked up bad.

i had meant to set up a payment to a credit card to be on friday automatically when i got paid. i fucked up HARD and didn't realize it scheduled to do so right away and i don't get paid until Friday.

if anyone can send ANYTHING, anything at all, i'm hoping to raise like $100 to help get through the week it'd be super appreciated just to help avoid overdraft fees.
