Some things- I’m slowly changing the look of the whole game. Now that some ✨THEMES✨ are settling in, I’m able to actually make the IF look a little prettier. I have some other art I will be adding later, when something in particular happens in the story, so get ready for that as well! [Also, this is random, but I realize that I’ve never mentioned this… The beautiful hand/forehead model for the SoS banner is my lovely little sister. Just wanted to throw that out there! 😂] I am also introducing a secret stat 👀 I’m not entirely sure how I want it to look on the stat page, so right now it’s just a number that will either go up or down depending on some of your choices. So, until I figure out how I want it to look…… Enjoy just a random number on the stats page. 😂

I’m not really picky about how much experience you have, but I do want people who would actively be helping me correct things like grammar, bugs, coding errors, etc. Oh! Also, you will need a discord account to be a beta-tester or proofreader. That’s the only requirement!!

How are you guys going about beta testers/proofreaders? Is it through email? Is there a special tier on patreon thing happening?

For those interested in being a beta tester/proofreader- how would you prefer to be notified, I guess?

Getting farther in my IFs, I'm having a harder time keeping up with the editing and whatnot. I can't seem to catch all of them 😅 so I'll be asking for beta testers soon. I just need to know/understand how others have done it?

The Midnight Bay

"If silence claims the waters of Midnight Bay, death has come to stay."

'The Midnight Bay' is an urban fantasy/romance interactive fiction game. You play as a private investigator willing to go to any length to find and capture the elusive serial killer known only as the 'Bay Slasher', who has been haunting your waking hours as well as your nightmares. This heartless killer has dogged the streets of Albach Bay, preying on its innocent residents ever since you were a child—the first of his victims being your own father...

However, the 'Bay Slasher' isn't the only foreboding presence lingering around the Midnight waters. A strange plethora of new faces have begun rolling into this usually small, unassuming town. And they all seem weirdly fixated on you. Why? Can they be trusted? Or are they just another distraction from your true goal?

Come on. Let's kill the killer.

Romance options

Simon/Simone [f/m] Task Force Leader. Human Simon/Simone comes from a wealthy family with a long history of government service and civil partnerships. Simon/Simone is somewhat of a black sheep and is estranged from a large portion of their family. After a bout of teenage rebellion, Simon/Simone finds themselves enlisted in the military to ‘correct’ their behaviour. However, with a penchant for leadership and a tacticians mind, they end up being recruited by a strange, secretive organisation whose goals are questionable.

After two more victims of 'The Bay Slasher' are found discarded on the bay, Simon/Simone drives themselves and their team into town, on orders from their mysterious higher-ups, ready to put away this killer for good. But cases such as these are never simple, and even more so with a far too clever and far too perceptive P.I. hot on their heels.

Rain [non-binary] The Mediator. Supernatural type; Pixie Rain grew up in a very wet biome of the world associated with fairies, pixies and elementals. After a great conflict, Rain was practically herded into the arms of a greater power, who guided them into the arms of Simon/Simone, who became their new leader.

When Simon/Simone tells them that one day, they will be going to the practically derelict town of Albach Bay to catch a dangerous killer, they shrug, smile, and pack their bags without a second thought. It doesn't take long for them to realise this isn't a typical case, even by their standards.

Taj [f/m] The Infiltrator. Supernatural type: Qita Taj is part of an ever-shrinking community hidden well in the Egyptian underbellies. Qita are a humanoid cat race native to Egypt and were once revered by humans at the dawn of their civilisation. However, that reverence began to fizzle out when a greater power, deciding their people had become too powerful,

After a great conflict, Taj is captured and 'recruited' to join a mysterious organisation dedicating themselves to maintaining balance. Taj is ultimately led to Simon/Simone and becomes the final member of their specialised team. Showing great resistance at first, eventually, Taj learns to accept and respect Simon/Simone, so when their leader declares they are to travel to the backwater town of Albach Bay, well... Taj comes along. Though not without reluctance.

Nazu/Naera [f/m] Supernatural type: Demon Nazu/Naera is a demon prince/princess from Hael. During a terrible conflict, their great power was muzzled as punishment for their part played in the war. They've been seeking the people responsible so they can regain the power they lost.

Their search has lasted more than a decade, but now... Now they find themselves in a small, human town where sin oozes from every shadow, beckoning every passer-by to partake in its debauchery. To top it off? They can hear their power singing to them. It's close. Heh... They might even end up liking it here.

Umbra [f/m] Supernatural type: ??? Umbra is an anomaly. Nothing about them is real. None of it should exist. Every facet of their being has been strung together out of sheer will and barely holding together by a thread. One wrong touch and they may fall apart, like unravelling a ball of yarn or pulling apart a puppet on a string.

So, why? Why do they exist? Simple.

They exist for you.

Howdy Y'all!!!

Welcome to my blog for my IF Stable Minds!! (name pending lol)

Within this story you will be playing an MC who has had it rough. Working multiple jobs, barely time to rest. In this story, per your choices, MC will grow and learn to live for themselves, learn to love themself.

There shall be 4 RO's, all gender selectable (as soon as I figure out how to code it lol.) As their names are still being thought over, we shall call them, City Kid, Ex Champ, Rival Farmer, and Work Spouse.

The 4RO's

City Kid - Born and raised in the city jungle of New York, spoiled and a bit out of touch with reality, their father sent them to Mr. Everett's (Their Uncle's) to touch some grass and to hopefully grow up a little. They will be shadowing the MC as they work, definitely going to be whiny ha-ha, hopefully your MC will be a good influence on them.

Ex-Champ - Having decided to give up the mantle of being one of the foremost dressage champions, they settle down and rent a stall for their beloved horse. A surprisingly silly and goofy person for being a fancy ex-champ, just don't mess with their horse-they won't be so silly if you do. Going with the flow for now, wanting to settle, but maybe... with you too.

Rival Farmer- Friendly competition! From the neighboring orchard of Mr. Everett's (He also owns an Orange Orchard). They are known for teasing the MC "Need some help there? Looking a bit like a noodle tryna lift that ha-ha" Totally doesn't tease MC to distract from the blush on their face when the see MC. Often leaves little gifts for the MC, best from their harvests that day.

Work Spouse - MC's best work friend, covers for the MC whenever the MC is late, checks them in and such. Rather protective of the MC, after seeing what MC's sister had done. Get's MC their drink of choice and offers to make them lunch. Justs wants to be in MC's life, to see them happy and not exhausted.

MC'S Family!! (also do not have names for them yet lol)

Mom!! (bluey intro sounds) - Basically, mama is stressed tf out and tired as hell. As much as she loves her family she is to run down and tired to show it. often sleeping or working, no in between.

Big Brother!! - Just like your mom he is often out working employed as a truck driver (big rig), he is gone more often than he wishes. Tries to shield MC from their sister when he is in town and feels guilty when he is gone for long periods of time. But mom's job is not enough to keep food on the table, so he helps best he can for his family.

Big Sister!! - Not the best sister in the world, often angry and abusive toward the MC. Has bad habits and is strain on the family financials. Mother does not notice as they are to tired to even see the state of their home, won't go into too much detail as I am still refining them.

Please read this if you also didn't like what happened with Dahlia. This is the first and only person who has stated they didn't like it, so far? If enough people weren't/aren't ok with what happened or don't exactly understand what happened, then I might change it. 🤷‍♀️

Sorry but I have to get this of my chest, I enjoyed "Demo Paranormal" for what it was, it was a bit a cliche but it was entertaining and got me hooked to keep reading at least but the way you treated Dahlia was fucking atrocious like Jesus, like she was left disabled because she was trying to help her fucking ex and his new boyfriend and they decided to abandon her in a hospital like Demo could at least be there for her as a friend but oh no Zak might feel jealous :(( so fuck her I guess.

Anyway, having an opinion is fine, and bringing up something you think was, as you put it, "atrocious" is fine. But I feel the need to go over a few things you brought up, if not only to clear up what happened, but to understand if my intention was clear...

They stayed with her for a few hours, making sure she was ok enough to then leave. And Zak and Demo felt extremely guilty for what happened, and stayed with her as long as they could, so I don't really understand you thinking they abandoned her? Because they weren't camping out in her hospital room? Zak lives in a completely different state, he's not exactly able to just stay with her with the rest of her life. Also, Zak was running against the clock for his life, so he also really didn't have time to hang out in a hospital for however long it takes to heal from your eyes being gouged out. I left it a little open-ended, but I assumed the reader would think that Dahlia has some friends or family that would have taken care of her after they found out what happened, especially since I stated that her, Demo, and Zak came up with a coherent story about her having a mental break.

Also, Zak wanted Demo to go be with her. Not like wanted wanted, but he knew it was the right thing to do. Demo chose to stay with Zak because 1; Dahlia told him that part of the 'payment' she wanted from helping Zak was to never see him again and 2; he knew she'd be ok. He literally says that 'she'll figure it out, she always has.' I wrote it this way so the reader can assume that she has others she can rely on, not just her demon-ex-boyfriend, and that she'll be ok despite what happened to her. Also, Demo leaves the hotel room after everything with her happened- I left it open-ended, again, so people could either assume he goes to visit Dahlia, or not. Maybe I could have put something about her in the epilogue, but considering the 1 thing she wanted from Demo for all her help was for him to leave her alone, I decided that her story would end where it ended.

Like, I'm sorry that what happened to Dahlia upset you so bad, but ultimately Dahlia was just there to advance the plot- not to be liked, not to be hated... Just to advance Zak's story. [This happens multiple times throughout the story...] What happened to her wasn't fair, but I tried to make it blatantly obvious that the demon in Zak is extremely dangerous, and that he didn't care if what he did was fair or not. I didn't mean to make it seem like they abandoned her, but her whole situation isn't exactly normal, so I'm unsure how to change it, and unsure if I want to.

I hope this didn't come off condescending or anything, I'm just rather confused about it.

Roman’s intelligence bar is so absurdly low, it’s killing me 😭.

LOL 😂 listen... the man's brain knows only 2 things- be big and be strong.

But in all seriousness- I was thinking that intelligence, in this case, was like... book-smarts. Like, how much schooling the characters got and how much they enjoy learning and such. Roman grew up in a very small farming village, and his parents wanted him to take over the family butchering business.... so no one really saw the need to put him in school lmao

Looking at the other character sheets I have, though, and... I don't have any basic-intelligence characters. They are either dumb-as-rocks or multiple-PhD level smarts LOL
