sucks so bad when a character you love is heavily infantilized. that is a grown man he knows what a cigarette is. intimately
#for me it's dante#I think I prefer his dmc1/2 characterization even if I understand it makes sense why he is the way he is in dmc3#the netflix's anime just didn't do it for me - he felt like his personality was deadpool. again#these just how I feel#text post#queue: offline

I’m so tired of people talking about Dante like he’s this morally dubious guy who doesn’t care about humanity or innocent people suffering. Like there’s plenty of morally dubious characters in DMC but he isn’t one of them.
Dante is described in the following ways by characters and even devs:
-Having a gentle heart.
-Having a gentle soul.
-A kind devil.
-Having nothing but kindness in his eyes for humans
-Says he became a hunter because he hates seeing innocent people get hurt.
-Fights on the side of justice.
-The most noble of souls.
Bro is the biggest goodie two shoes imaginable. He just doesn’t see himself that way because he blames himself for tragedies like Nell’s death.

Anytime someone decides to be like "Well, the dmc games have always had bad writing" I'm gonna show them the comparison of Lady from the games explaining the legend of Sparda vs Mary from the anime explaining the legend of Sparda. "Sonic was never good" "Marvel and DC comics were also just as bad" type of arguments all over again.

Anyone who says the Devil May Cry games had bad writing, link them to thegamingmuse on youtube. She has some really incredible essays on DMC that make it immediately apparent the games are more than just wacky wahoo pizza man adventures.
Ooo tyty for the recommendation, I'll take a look at her channel!
But yeah, this claim of saying the games were always bad is just, really not the case and should not be the main point of defense for the dmcflix anime. You should be able to defend it without immediately shitting on the source material. And many games fans have made posts talking about how just bc the story for dmc seems v surface level, it doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. Shockwave-red made a good post explaining that simplicity doesn't always equal poorly written and that a story that's p straight forward can still be good in a reblog post that I fully agree with. Not only that, no one is saying dmc is a perfect story as we have pointed out flaws for years now. This 'critique' of "dmc always had bad writing" bc people are criticizing the Netflix anime just comes off as a petty response rather than an actual critique.

Adi Shankar lied about how he got the rights for Devil May Cry?
I want to present what I believe is considered evidence that contradicts the statement from Adi Shankar, the "visionary mind" , who only makes fanfics based on the IPs from other people....I want to hear your opinions about it and if some of you might have more evidence, please share with me. I've added another two screenshots at the end about other lies he said but I want to hear what some you might have to say.
So, I came across an interview that has been made recently and you can find it on the Forbes website.
I looked through it and there was one statement that I thought sounded weird because it different from what he said on his Twitter some time ago.
He stated that his mission was to acquire the rights for DINO CRISIS but Capcom gave him DMC instead.
Take note that it was Capcom's decision, thus it contradicts what Shankar posted on his Twitter:
In the recent interview on the Forbes website, he says:
“I fought for this one. I spent a year in the trenches negotiating with Capcom to acquire the rights, finally locking it down in 2018.
Then, it became 2.5 years of literary obsession, me and my writing partner, Alex Larsen, forging the blueprint for this “Adi Shankar’s Devil May Cry” Universe.
OBJECTION!
According to what he posted on Twitter, he went to Capcom for Dino Crisis and I haven't found other statements that say that he had trouble getting the rights for DMC. It sounds like they were given easily by Capcom and I hate that in that recent interview he wanted to sound like he was some fucking warrior who fought to obtain them, most likely expecting for us to regard him as a hero.
Also, how stupid was Capcom to agree to give him the rights when that happened before DMC5 was even released? The game was revealed in 2018, and that's when the adaptation was mentioned, like even now Shankar still has that picture of him in Dante cosplay pinned on his Twitter page and it was from 2018. DMC5 released a year later. Like WTF, why ruin the release of the game by mentioning that Capcom would collaborate with that guy?
So yeah what do you think about what I presented?
Oh and look at some of his other lies.
Sure you didn't...Ugh, I hate how he was boasting that he was the only person that Capcom allowed to see materials that would have been used for the 3rd volume of the manga that would have been about Lady.

The last part...Fucking liar!
#if they did this to lady#I am dreading what he's going to do with lucia and trish (if she does appear)#the bar is in the depths of hell#text post#anti dmc netflix

Almost every person I've seen highly praising the new Netflix DMC adaptation has almost always followed by saying, "I've never played the games" or "I've only DMC 5"
And that tells me everything I need to know
