THE COOL , SALTY BREEZE OF THE SEA is a very welcome reprieve from the merciless heat of the sun above. Chai stands , feet buried in the sand , shoes long abandoned under an umbrella a few feet away. Now this is something he could get used to. Distracted by the sight of shimmering water in front of him , he doesn't notice the small robotic cat wander off behind him. Maybe it wasn't the best idea to bring her to the beach anyways - but hey. Peppermint never said that she wasn't waterproof.

THE PLACE THAT CHAI WALKS INTO looks like it comes out of one of those shitty Western movies Chai watches on his free time. In fact , just about all of Sunset's End looks like it's from some old timey movie. All that he was looking for was some protection from the scorching rays of the sun. But , hey , this place isn't too bad. His eyes scan the room , watching a man in a cowboy hat and boots sing a song on a surprisingly modern - looking karaoke machine.

HE TURNS TOWARDS THE NEAREST PERSON HE CAN FIND , nudging them with an elbow. ❛ I didn't think Cowboys did karaoke. I always thought they were , you know . . playing poker. Or getting into fights. Or , I dunno , spitting on the floor. But that's kinda gross now that I think about it. So maybe this is the best option. ❜ And now that he knows that karaoke exists here ? Oh , hell yeah. He knows what he's doing.

MAYBE IT WAS JUST HOW OVERWHELMED HE WAS that was making the music so damn loud , or maybe that's just how the music here was always going to be. God , he really hoped not. Granted , Chai was all too used to loud music blasting in his ears. He's learned how to tune it out for the most part - but he'd be lying if he said he didn't miss when he could just turn the music off. And this , the almost feverishly excited drumbeat , the high - energy guitar ? If he was at home , it would be nothing. But he has no idea where he is or why he was brought here. Moving to the beat was the only way to keep himself sane.

CHAI DIDN'T HEAR THE FOOTSTEPS APPROACHING HIM , but as the guitar faded and the tempo slowed , he preemptively turned his head to look at who was approaching. Weird. Usually he was met by rock music. That was all he ever listened to , after all. He just assumed that was what the music player would give him. This , though . . it was slow. Melodic and focused , but soothing. Almost . . sleepy. The question made his face screw up apologetically. A hand raised to rub his neck apologetically.

For a while, Elijah really did just think he was dreaming a little too hard in that hay cart he hitched a ride in, but his crossbow and his lute weren't on him... He'd NEVER dream without those. So of course, he went with his second guess, which was spontaneous kidnapping !
