SENIOR MINISTER CONDOLES DEATH OF PARTY LEADER AFZAL TARAR

Lahore, April 28:

Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has expressed a deep sense of grief and sorrow over the death of senior politician and party leader Afzal Tarar.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb extended heartfelt condolences to Saira Afzal Tarar and other members of the bereaved family and prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to them to bear the loss with fortitude.

She said that the late Afzal Tarar Sahib was a combination of many qualities; popular among the party and the people alike. Afzal Tarar spent his life serving the people and solving their problems, she added. His lifelong association with Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was his conspicuous pride. No temptation or inducement could weaken his attachment to party leadership; Marriyum Aurangzeb said and noted that he had been a member of the Muslim League for generations. His mission of public service will continue through Saira Afzal Tarar; however, the absence of the late Afzal Tarar will always be felt, she added.

لاہور26اپریل:وزیراعلی پنجاب مریم نواز شریف کی ہدایت پر سینئر صوبائی وزیر مریم اورنگزیب نے ورلڈ فوڈ پروگرام کی کنٹری ڈائریکٹر کوکویوشییامہ(Coco Ushiyama)سے ملاقات کی-اس موقع پر پنجاب میں سٹنٹڈ بچوں میں غذائی قلت کو پورا کرنے کے لیے ون تھاؤزنڈ ڈے پروگرام شروع کرنے پر اتفاق کیا گیا-بغیرناشتے کے سکول جانے پر مجبور 8فیصد بچوں کی سٹنٹڈ گروتھ پر قابو پانے کے لئے سکول میل پروگرام شروع کرنے کا جائزہ بھی لیا گیا-

سینئر وزیرمریم اورنگزیب نے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ نیوٹریشن فورس کاقیام وزیراعلی مریم نواز شریف کی اولین ترجیحات میں سے ایک ہے۔بہبود آبادی، صحت،صفائی،سکول ایجوکیشن اور سٹنٹڈ بچوں کی صحت کے حوالے سے دوطرفہ تعاون بارے تبادلہ خیال کرتے ہوئے مریم اورنگزیب نے کہا کہ پنجاب فوڈ باسکٹ ہے لیکن بیشتر مائیں اور بچے غذائی قلت کا شکارہیں -انہوں نے کہا کہ ڈونرز اور پارٹنرز کے باہمی اشتراک سے اس سماجی مسئلے پرقابو پایا جاسکتاہے۔

سینئر وزیر نے کہا کہ ای میکانائزیشن پروگرام،فوڈسیفٹی،کسانوں کوجدید ایگری مشینری اور آئی ٹی سے مزین کررہے ہیں۔ وزیراعلی سالڈ ویسٹ مینجمنٹ پروگرام کا جلدآغاز کریں گی، پہلے فیز میں 16 بڑے شہروں میں سالڈ ویسٹ مینجمنٹ کا کام ہوگا۔سینئر وزیر نے بتایا کہ وزیر اعلی مریم نواز شریف کی قیادت میں ماحولیاتی چیلنجز اورسموگ کے خاتمے کے لیے ملٹی سیکٹورل سموگ ایکشن پلان پر آئندہ ہفتے سے عملدرآمد شروع ہوجائے گا۔

لاہور26اپریل:- حکومت پنجاب نے سموگ کے خاتمے اور ماحول کو بہتر بنانے کے لئے تحفظ ماحول کی اتھارٹی (انوائرنمنٹل پروٹیکشن اتھارٹی)بنانے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے-یہ اتھارٹی ماحولیاتی تحفظ کے اقدامات اور قوانین پر موثر عمل درآمد یقینی بنائے گی-

سینئر صوبائی وزیر مریم اورنگزیب نے آج یہاں جاری ایک بیان میں بتایا کہ وزیراعلیٰ مریم نواز کی صدارت میں انسداد سموگ کابینہ کمیٹی تشکیل کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا گیا ہے -اس حوالے سے پلاننگ اینڈ ڈویلپمنٹ ڈیپارٹمنٹ میں سموگ مانیٹرنگ سیکٹورل سیل بنایا گیا ہے جس میں ہرمحکمے کا نمائندہ موجود ہے - اس کے ساتھ ساتھ ماحول کی بہتری کے لئے وزیراعلی کے وژن پر عمل درآمد کے لئے لیگل فریم ورک تشکیل دینے کا کام شروع کردیا ہے-انہوں نے بتایا کہ ہر شعبے کے لحاظ سے قوانین اور ضابطوں پر عمل درآمد کے لئے ہنگامی اقدامات کا ایکشن پلان تیار کیا گیا ہے -انہوں نے کہا کہ ماحول کے تحفظ کے لئے خصوصی فورس بنانے کا بھی فیصلہ کیا ہے-کون سا شعبہ سموگ میں اضافے کی وجہ بن رہا ہے، ڈیجیٹل ڈیٹا جمع کیاجائے گا-

سینئر وزیر نے کہا کہ سموگ، زہریلے مادوں اور دھوئیں کے اخراج کے ذرائع پر کریک ڈاؤن ہوگااور حکومت صنعت اور ٹرانسپورٹ کے شعبے سے متعلق ماحولیاتی قوانین اور ضابطوں پر سختی سے عمل درآمد کرائے گی-انہوں نے واضح کیا کہ زگ زیگ ٹیکنالوجی کے بغیر کوئی بھٹہ نہیں چلے گا،زگ زیگ ٹیکنالوجی کے بغیر چلنے والے بھٹے بندکئے جا رہے ہیں اورگاڑیوں کے لئے فٹنس سر ٹیفکیٹ لازمی قرار دیاجارہا ہے-اسی طرح زیادہ دھواں چھوڑنے اور خراب انجن والی گاڑیوں کو بند کیاجائے گا- اس کے ساتھ ساتھ خراب انجن والی گاڑیوں کی مانیٹرنگ اور سرٹیفکیشن کا نظام بھی لایا جا رہا ہے اورزہریلے دھوئیں پر کنٹرول کے لئے تمام صنعتوں کو ’ایمشن کنٹرول سسٹمز‘ لگانے کا پابند کرنے کا نظام تیار کر لیا گیا ہے-

LAHORE, April 26:

On the direction of Chief Minister Punjab, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb held a meeting with Ms Coco Ushiyama, the Country Director of the World Food Program. On this occasion, it was decided to initiate the "One Thousand Days Program" to address nutritional deficiencies among stunted children.

To tackle the issue of controlling stunted growth in 8% of children compelled to attend school without breakfast, the School Meal Program will be launched, the senior minister added.

Speaking during the meeting, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb stated that the establishment of the nutrition force is one of the priorities of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Emphasizing mutual cooperation regarding population planning, healthcare, sanitation, school education and the health of stunted children, Marriyum Aurangzeb mentioned that Punjab was a traditional food basket but unfortunately, many mothers and children were suffering from malnutrition. She highlighted that this social issue could be addressed through donors and partners' collaboration.

The senior minister further stated that mechanization programs, food security and the provision of modern agricultural machinery to farmers were underway. The CM will soon launch the solid waste management program, starting with 16 major cities in the first phase. She revealed that under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a multisectoral smog action plan will be implemented next week to address environmental challenges and smog reduction.

The WFP representative expressed confidence in providing substantial assistance in university research and development on food scarcity, aquaculture farming, carbon financing, population growth, maternal and child health, environmental changes and capacity building for farmers.

LAHORE, April 26:

The Punjab government has decided to establish the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) to combat smog and improve the environment. This authority will ensure the effective implementation of environmental protection measures and laws.

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb announced in a statement issued here today that under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a smog prevention cabinet committee will be formed. In this regard, a smog monitoring sectoral cell has been established in the P&D Department, with representatives from each department. Additionally, work has begun to establish a legal framework to implement the chief minister's vision for environmental improvement, she added.

A rapid action plan has been prepared for the immediate implementation of laws and regulations in every sector, she further said. It has been decided to also establish a special force for environmental protection and digital data will be collected to determine the causes of smog increase.

The senior minister stated that smog, emissions of toxic substances and particulate matter will be curbed and the government will rigorously enforce environmental laws and regulations related to industry and transportation sectors to promote a clean environment. She made it clear that no brick kiln would operate without zigzag technology; brick kilns without this technology were being phased out and fitness certificates were being mandatory for vehicles. Furthermore, smoke-emitting vehicles and those with faulty engines will be banned. A system for monitoring and certification of vehicles with faulty engines was being introduced and all industries will be mandated to install emission control systems to control toxic emissions, concluded the senior minister.

115 HELD FOR OVERPRICING ROTI

CS ORDERS INTENSIFYING CRACKDOWN ON PROFITEERS

LAHORE, April 26:

On the directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the authorities are continuing the crackdown against those selling Roti at higher price, arresting 115 persons, registering 25 cases, sealing seven Tandoors and imposing fines of more than Rs 1.6 million in different districts yesterday.

The report regarding the actions of price magistrates against profiteers was presented in the meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman to review the implementation of reduction in Roti price on Friday. The administrative secretaries of industries and food departments and officers concerned attended the meeting while all the divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners participated through video link.

The Chief Secretary ordered all the deputy commissioners to intensify the ongoing crackdown against those selling Roti at higher rates and take stern action as per law over violation of the price list. He said that the cut in the price of Roti is aimed at providing relief to the people. He said that after the reduction in the price of wheat flour, there is no justification for selling Roti at higher than the notified rate.

The Chief Secretary asked the Special Branch and Urban Unit to send a report about monitoring of Roti prices on a daily basis. He also issued instructions to the deputy commissioners to ensure timely resolution of the complaints about overcharging received on the Qeemat Punjab app.

The Secretary Industries gave a detailed briefing at the meeting. He said that the price magistrates conducted inspections of 6,000 places yesterday and detected overcharging at 638 points. He said that out of 165 complaints received on Qeemat Punjab app, 153 have been resolved.

LAHORE, April 20:

On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Food Minister Punjab Bilal Yasin cracked down on the manufacturers and sellers of substandard food in Faisalabad. Food safety teams headed by the provincial food minister raided well-known restaurants, food points and markets. Meanwhile, fines of Rs 3 lakh were imposed for violating the rules and a warning was issued to the slaughterhouse. Similarly, a case was registered and more than 1 mann of substandard meat and fish was destroyed. Talking to media representatives present on the spot, Food Minister Punjab Bilal Yasin said that actions have been taken for violations of food safety laws. The food minister said that during the raid, the storage area was found with a very dirty and smelly environment. Similarly, medical and training certificates of the employees were also not available. Bilal Yasin said that the manufacturing and expiry dates were not mentioned on the prepared food while dead bees and mosquitoes were found in the freezer. During the inspection, it was observed that food was being prepared with expired ingredients with open drains and broken floors in the processing area. Penalties imposed and cases filed for serious violations of Pure Food Regulations. Bilal Yasin said that it is our mission to provide quality food to the citizens and no relaxation will be offered to the mafia. The Food Minister said that rooting out adulteration mafia is one of the top priorities of the Food Department and operations are underway across Punjab to achieve this goal.
