I remember during puberty talk in 6th grade they handed out permission slips for parents to sign if they didn’t want their kids getting sex ed and like five students ended up having to wait in the library while the rest of us learned about puberty and health stuff.
Afterwards during lunch recess almost everyone in class spent our time telling those five kids what we learned and showing them our handouts.

Honestly, if you're a kid and an adult tells you "they're just trying to get a reaction out of you :)" as a response to being told that some younger kid is tormenting you, that should count as full permission to punt that little shit. Like I would never hit a child, but if you're seven years old and a five-year-old is being a cunt at you and adults just tell you "oh they just want to find out what happens if they keep doing that", wouldn't only be fair to let them know what happens if they keep doing that?
Siblings should never be left responsible of raising each other, but if adults have decided that they are allowed to fuck around, wouldn't it only be your right - or even downright duty - to let them consequently find out?
#i let my cousins do that#if theyre annoying the shit out of eachother and i say “thats enough” and they dont stop#i tell them “X asked you to stop. if u keep going im giving them fuul permission to hit u”#im not a great parental figure#like maybe im just still young enough to remember my brother doing this to me#also my dad absolutely used other methods of good parenting w us#but those memories are blurry at best#what i remember distinctly is when i was being the little shit to my brother my dad would say#“fine but remember D. one day he WILL be bigger than u so if u wanna keep hitting him i wont stop him later”#that got me to stop immediately lol#and when my brother was in middle school he was a little shit and already significantly bigger and stronger than me#i was allowed to lock my door for the first time just to keep him out of my room when his friends were over#anyway they wouldnt stop messing w me and he blocked the hallway to my room and i kept telling him to move#and i grabbed and shoved him into the wall and broke our antique clock#i did not get in any trouble when my dad came out when he heard the crash#he heard me screaming at my brother to move before this point so he just looked at me and said#“good job” then look at my brother and said “next time listen when ur told to stop”#i went to my room but he still got a long ass lecture#like we still had sibling fights#but that was the last of the worst of it lol

okay now I'm curious and I dunno if this is really such an archaic foreign thing to young people today or if I'm just out of touch
Please reblog, I'd love to see a lot of responses!

Something REALLY interesting about this scene
At the beginning of the scene Miles confronts Gwen about the 'small elite strike-team' comment.
Gwen lies and plays it off, saying that most of them are part-time anyway.
IMMEDIATELY after that in the next line dialogue, Hobie confronts Gwen and asks her 'Gwendy, how much have you told him about his place in all this? - Maybe not enough.'
Hobie is expressioning disappointment towards Gwen. He doesn't approve of her lying to Miles, knowing what's gonna happen to him. He doesn't agree with them keeping him in the dark - which is why later in the scene he says
'I haven't gotten a Scooby Doo, mate. But that's what they want.'
He's warning Miles that they're keeping in him the dark, on purpose.
ONCE AGAIN Hobie showing foward thinking and outwardly disapproving of the obviously unfair treatment that Miles is given. He's not angry at Gwen, but he's willing to tell her straight up that she's not doing or telling Miles enough to protect him.
Miles deserved to know Miguel's motives BEFORE meeting him. That's why he pointed it out then.
He's ALWAYS looking out for Miles
