day 1.1 - alola!
Meowth is possibly the most annoying pokemon ever, or maybe just my mother’s meowth. I always get annoyed whenever meowth barges into my room unannounced and decides to wake me up with things he picked up from Arceus knows where. Today was yet again one of those days. I was napping because I was still jetlagged after our long airship ride to Alola yesterday, where my mother had decided to up and move to after she divorced my father, when meowth came into my room and woke me up. (Thankfully mom always makes sure to keep his nails short, otherwise that pawing would hurt!)
I was 13 when my parents started having more frequent fights and my father had come home less and less, and it was two years later when they decided to tell me that they were going to get divorced. Not long after that, mom received a Holocall from Professor Kukui of Alola, whom she had housed when he visited Kanto to participate in the Indigo league. A month later, she asked me if I would be okay with moving to Alola. It was summer and I was waiting for the results of my school certificate exams, the ones mandatory for every kid in grade ten at Kanto. If you got a good grade in them, you could get into prep school for university; otherwise it was going to work for you.
Some kids who were talented in pokemon battling often went to trainer school instead and were exempt from these exams. These kids would continue on to train under gym leaders and hopefully become successors to those gyms later on. I was never talented enough to pass those trainer school exams (there were a lot of amazing pokemon geniuses in Kanto!) and my father was always slightly wary of pokemon. He never really trusted them. My mother, on the other hand, loves pokemon, but because of my father, she only had a couple of them, including meowth, and they were rarely allowed to help out with the housework since my father believed in human labour only. Now that I think back about it, it was no wonder why they divorced.
I wasn’t too confident about my exam results, since I was mediocre in school (not bad enough to fail but not with flying colours either), and I did not have many friends (a couple close ones but we were all graduating and probably going our separate ways), so I didn’t mind if I was staying at Kanto or leaving. I told my mother that I would always support her decisions. My mother grew very quiet and still for a moment – it was rare because she was always very bubbly and chatty. Just as I was wondering if I had said anything wrong, she blinked, her eyes looking suspiciously glassy, and hugged me, saying, “Oh my, our little Moon’s all grown up!”
Oh yeah, Moon’s my name. It’s one of the things I always get teased for wherever I go, whether it was at school or at one of those chic coffee places where they ask you for your name so they could write it down on your cup. But that’s cool; besides pokemon, my mother really loves nature, and according to her, I was born at night with a full moon, which she saw outside the hospital window as she expended all her energy to push me out. Apparently in that moment she decided to call me Moon because that was the only thing she was thinking about. It’s certainly a good ice-breaker, and I don’t mind my weird name. I’d probably be more discontent with an ordinary one, since I’m pretty ordinary already.
But anyhow,  here we are in Alola, finally. Professor Kukui called before our airship ride to let us know that our stuff has arrived (we sent them over beforehand) and that he has arranged transport to our lodgings. That was the first time I spoke to him. He’s tanned with a friendly smile and says “yeah!” a lot. He’s a very enthusiastic guy. I don’t know what to make of him, but I’m sure I’ll have more opportunity to get to know him later on. He’s also the person who suggested keeping a journal to record my new experiences. I think it’s a good idea since I love writing and I don’t have any friends yet, so this should tide me over for a while.
Oh, mom’s calling for me; I should probably go downstairs to see what she wants. My room is massive but looking quite empty right now because I still haven’t unpacked my stuff. They are in boxes in a far corner of my room, waiting to be opened. Ugh. Can’t be bothered to do trivial things right now. I’m just going to throw the stuff back into the one box I opened because I had to get some sheets on my mattress for my nap.

[housekeeping] what’s this all about
Hello world! I’ve decided to create this tumblr to record my playthrough of Pokemon Sun/Moon (though my version is Pokemon Sun) but via the perspective of our main character and in diary/journal format! (Kind of like RP)
I will be giving my main character a backstory so there will be additional story elements other than the original storyline, but most, if not all, major events will largely stick to those in the game. It won’t necessarily be a walkthrough because not everything will be documented, but there will definitely be A LOT OF SPOILERS. So if you haven’t played through the game yet, don’t read because you will definitely be spoiled, storywise. You have been warned.
Hope this will be fun!
