“Blorbo from my shows” this, “blorbo from my videogames” that. What about “blorbo from my DnD game” that only three other people know. Do you ever think about that-

Upon finding an abandoned farmhouse, Ideal and Margo searched to make sure it was safe to rest here tonight, and stumbled across a dusty old rocking horse.
Ideal remembered having one of these when he was little, and thought it only fair Margo get to play on one too.
Watching his little brother enjoying himself so much was great, though it stung to know his little brother had reached 14 years old and only just got play on something as simple as a rocking horse.

Everyone, I’d like you to meet Lezabel "Lizzy" Coninikett, a Tiefling Warlock.
Now, unlike most adventurers.....she has no tragic backstory. No dead family, even. Her mother is from this realm, born from a witch and her demonic partner. (Both dead, of course. It's a great story that should be recorded in history books.) Her father, an average man from another realm entirely. (Though with her mother's magic, they often go back to visit and meet up with family. In fact, her outfits are often made by Grandma Coninikett!)
Perhaps the only bump in the road was that Lizzy couldn't access her full abilities alone, leaving her mother- a demon witch- to assist with that; forming a pact with her daughter in order to assure Lizzy could be a magic caster like her mother's side was! Plus, the benefit of being in contact with her daughter gives both father and mother some peace of mind.
But by now, you must be wondering who her parents are? Glad you asked!!

Malfina the Demon Witch and Clark Coninikett....AKA Connecticut Clark.
If you survived that surprise of a gutpunch, congrats!! Now here’s a few bonus fun facts about Lizzy!
Malfina affectionately calls her “my little demon spawn.”
The light streak in her hair was inherited from her father.
Feathers and demonic heritage from her mother.
Necklace was a gift. (Before she left home to adventure!)
Outfit baked made in helping with Grandma Coninikett.

Gonna rb this here to pretend like I actually do DnD things sometimes, dkfgfjd. (I do!! We’re just still waiting for the day we can rebuild our crew and meet up again... It’s been slow going.)
MORE IMPORTANTLY! I’ve got ideas, so lemme share them with you...
In my opinion, the best route is a vampire. Now, from there...two routes on how to handle this end boss, but for now, let’s talk about NPCs and building rails without them feeling it. (Fun is always important, but especially if this will be a one-shot... You’ll want to give them a balance of both.)
If this is a one-shot, definitely start light, with rumors as a treat for talking around. (The host of the masquerade is insanely rich, but yet to take a spouse. Some have rumors he’s never seen in the day and even why this ball is being held at night. ETC.) Get them comfortable, maybe make a few checks as things go on (athletics for dancing, anyone?) to get the basic idea, and then.....
Cue the first death (or only, depending on time and how you wish the overall story to go) and the players then having to figure out who did it, when, etc. This can especially be done by talking around, but perhaps foreshadowing is another fun tool you can implement! (I’m always a sucker for “they met the very person who is causing the chaos, but didn’t know it at the time”; a charismatic, charming person among a party will be the norm, anyways.)
Now, this is where things get interesting. Cause as I’ve suggested before, there’s two optional routes using the vampire idea.
The first option is that they’re dealing with an experienced, older vampire. Classic villain tropes, here, and also leaves room to scare/terrify your players with his wits and how he toys with them, as if daring for them to figure out who he is. (Works well with more bodies, too, if you don’t mind being creative!)
The other option is a young vampire; this will be a little less daunting if the players are super new, while also giving them a really interesting story to go off of. This vampire can still be charming, but he’s also clumsy and probably prone to freaking out; this can STILL be further used for a player who’s non-combative to test out their own Charisma stat and either soothe him or even manipulate him to lower his guard to make the kill easier.
In combat, however, he’s hard enough to be a boss while scared enough to be compelling. (Bonus round for him being relatively new to the area, and this ball was his way of trying to make feeding easier. Being a new and messy eater, however, has obviously made his goals fall very short.)
.....As a bonus idea- because I’ve grown to love this trope- feel free to have the guests think the host is a male, leave the gender largely hidden, and reveal a female vampire as a plot twist! One can always appreciate a bit of midleading, especially since that could play into the idea of a “shapeshifter” without having to have one. (She dresses both masculine and feminine during the ball, so it’s naturally harder to spot her in the ever changing crowd.)
...Though shapeshifting is still accounted for, given that vampires can shapeshift into bats or mist to escape. How many places can a bat hide? How perfect is mist to escape a room that’s about to be stormed...? Oho!
On a final note, if this is more than a one-shot, feel free to flesh out the ball as much as you’d like! Perhaps there’s another monster here who leads the party on a false trail, only for another body to be discovered? Interacting with their foe, yet not knowing it each time due to the other side’s mask of calm. Let the rumors of the owner guide them into the truth!
Parties are always a little hard to manage in DnD, as getting sidetracked is all too tempting of an option, but let the NPCs fuel the flames and let that first body be their “let’s go sign” and they’ll hopefully catch on from there.
(Also, if you need NPC fodder, just message me! I looooove making characters and having a few big time NPC guides would be a delight to make for you~)
Help! Im writing a oneshot based around a masquerade ball and need ideas !👑
So im DMing a oneshot for 2 people who have never played before. (But we’ve wanted to for forever) I think they would LOVE this idea though— getting dressed up, regal vibes, gossip and drama and beauty.
So if anyone has really neat ideas that i could use feel free to reply/message me! Im looking for possible murder mystery, intrigue, and the theme of “not everyone is who they seem”
Thinking the final boss will be a vampire, medusa, or some kind of shapeshifting creature? But im struggling with how to make it clear enough of what they need to do in such a npc filled space like a ball. How do i keep them on task?
Thanks yall :)

As a way of apologizing for Surprise Lewds on the dashboard/tags, have this:
Fun fact!! Quinzy does NOT believe in gods or magic.
Her father was a demon lord, yes, but he never really brought his past up with the kids. (And bare bones summaries were what his wife got.) So she’s really got no beginning to even think that the “fake names” people are praying to might, uh, actually be Very Real.
However, she has a sword she’s supposed to be attuning to... That has a deity of storms tied to it... Given that she’s a careless, give-no-fucks Storm Herald, maybe this could go well??? Ah?!?
As for magic, she sincerely, stubbornly believes it’s not magic. Like, she has a pair of horns, pure red eyes, and a tail; sure it’s not “normal,” but it’s who she is, right? So people casting fireball? Eldritch blast? It’s the same idea. It’s just something they Can Do, with no more thought of it.
She’s purple, humans can be pale to dark, the sun spins up in the sky, some people can cast Fireball and nearly melt her skin off. Just another Thursday!

Sincerely debated on posting this, decided to risk it all.
Absolutely FANTASTIC art of Quinzy the Tief Barbarian from @missb3havi0ur on Twitter! (Obvious NSFW warning for that account.)
Whether she’s seducing in luxury or your average room in the local town hotel... You know you’re in for an unforgettable night. 💜

Art based on Halsey’s Angel on Fire. It really carries the energies that Quinzy’s been carrying lately, where her entire being is falling apart. Her fierce desire to be Known and Loved and the feelings that she’s not enough. Her brother won’t need her anymore. People have left. (The previous group fell apart, so Quinzy’s experiencing abandonment issues in light of the fight that split them all apart.)
It’s a hellva time for her and it’s...something she can’t quite cope with. Especially after everything else she’s been through, equating to something of the level of depression and C-PTSD. (But that’s something she can’t identify, so. Until she realizes the trauma, we’re not going to address that quite yet.)
Unfinished and a WIP, but I’m extremely proud of this and wish to post it here.

Speaking of Jevan!! I finally got to hammer out the details with my DM/bf about what he looks like so I could draw him for once..... Needless to say, figuring out to draw him was an entire WAR on my part. Absolute struggle. Made it there somehow, though.
So here’s the Drow Bloodhunter who swept into the scene, stole the show, and Quinzy’s heart, to boot. (Also, don’t mind the odd stripe on his pants; I used whiteout and forgot whiteout and Copics don’t agree with each other.)

Just remembered I have art I can share....wow!
To start us off, WIP of a concept that- with any luck- we can avoid.....evil Quinzy. A potential that’s been discussed before largely because her morals and alignment depend on the state of her little brother, Carnon. Had he died at any point before meeting a certain Bloodhunter...... Her going missing from the party wouldn’t have been a surprise.
Her returning with the might of a disgraced captain and a fury unmatched, wings grown back? Only a matter of time, as she would’ve blamed the party (and herself) for not protecting her little brother. For not saving him.
.....At least now Carnon and Jevan have to die before this possibility comes up again.
