4. Is there a popular pairing you don't necessarily dislike but aren't too invested in?

Hm, probably MikaLight (that's popular, right?). While I love a little bit of religious imagery (*screams in ex-Catholic*), I haven't yet sat down and read a MikaLight fic that I've been totally invested in. If I sought out something from Mikami's perspective specifically, I could see myself liking it a little. But for now I'm kinda meh on the ship.

6. Show us a bit of a WIP!

I wrote this bit who knows how long ago, so idk if I'll keep it in the final draft, but I do like the vague direction it's going in.

“Maybe the world is better off without people like L.”

“What?!” 

Ide knows he's struck a nerve. “I don’t mean it like that,” he replies quickly. “It’s terrible that he died, but… no person should have the kind of power and influence that L had over his cases. If we say that Kira is evil because he is—he was— one person controlling the justice system, then we can’t allow people like L to do whatever they want to solve cases that interest them.

“We’re cops, after all. The world may be terrible, but we work within the system to try and change things. It may be slow, but it’s fair…” He pauses. He think he's talked for too long. “Does that make sense?”

Matsuda nods, and Ide’s phone rings.

“Hello?”

His eyes widen. He turns to Matsuda and mouths, “Aizawa”. "Are you okay? Did they-?"

8. How did you come up with the title to [Weekend At Ryuzaki's]?

Well, it's kinda funny that you mention it:

*waves hands wildly* All will be revealed... (once I finish writing this chapter, lol)

When I posted the first 2-ish chapters, I think the fic was called "Lingering On" or something like that. I was listening to a song called "Linger" while writing and thought that it would work as a good placeholder. Eventually, once I figured out what I wanted to do with the fic, I changed the name to something that I thought fit the tone a little better, vaguely referencing an old movie that I've never seen. Also, the confinement plot point literally involves spending a "weekend at Ryuzaki's", but I can't remember if I'd come up with that specific detail when I decided on the fic title.

6. Show us a bit of a WIP!

this is my favourite question here, definitely a contender for all time favourite question. i've been talking about my aizamatsu wip for a while (the one that despite being 43k words, still does not have a title, hence 'aizamatsu wip'). it is my sickeningly romantic indulgence, my passion project, if you will.

here's a bit:

I trace his cheekbones, lips, and jaw with my stare, and lift my gaze to his eyes. There’s something in them, not something I could ever describe visually. Right now, we are basking in silence, and the air is still heavy, yet he is somehow still encompassed by affection for me. Touta’s eyes are trailing the lines of my face, patient as he awaits my answer. It strikes me now; now, rather than in an hour or in a week, that he is also choosing to love me. 

“We'll watch the cherry blossoms together in the spring.”

I try to seem nonchalant, but the words sound an awful lot like a promise.

i am genuinely so excited to keep working on this, and to eventually publish it. it'll take a while, and i really hope that the three people who care don't end up being disappointed LOL.

12. What's the funniest or craziest AU idea you've ever come up with?

very good question, i have no answer that immediately comes to mind. most of my aus are quite tame, creative in some ways maybe, but nothing insane. will have to get back to you on that.

For some reason, Matsuda x Ide x Aizawa (or any pairing between the three) happening during the Near arc has the potential to be so angsty that it wraps right around into being just a little funny.

Like. You've been working on catching a killer for years now. You've watched coworkers, friends, die to this case. You find yourself wondering if what you're doing is right, or if one of the people by your side is the man you're after.
