You don't enjoy it, do you?
Being seen as the problem
But you just accept it anyways
Because no one understands
All the shits so well more than you do
You try to keep it real
But people just don't want it
To hear the truth
They aren't ready for this deal
They don't believe in you
Because you hate to prove yourself
And you ain't wrong with that
But there were days
Mostly when people misunderstands you
They don't get the logic
You despise it
But you can't help yourself
Comparing yourself to others
Not really comparing though
But sincerely pleading
For answers to that question
You always ask yourself
"What's wrong with me?"
You aren't insecure
Actually you truly are proud of yourself
It's just that why things aren't falling into places
When you are right
When you are who you really are
Why people hated you so much?
And all these are left unexpressed
You are suppressed
I don't know
Maybe it was the principles you believe in
Or you don't want to see people that you are weak
Or you don't allow yourself to be vulnerable
Or you don't trust people
Or maybe, just maybe
Life's been treating you so bad
You cannot believe there are people who cares
Who give a damn about your problem
'Coz yeah why will I give them a part of me?
It doesn't matter anyways
People come and go
People misses you
But you push them away
I don't know more than you know
You are the master of keeping it all in

TROLLS
Social Media is a coward's dream come true. To spread lies and hatred, face to face when slapped by truth you know they can't argue. I'm pretty sure they talk crazy just to widen their reach. They hide beneath an alias and a funny picture but like a cult they could preach! They have different narration but can't be found in the records of history. Factual evidence should be used as your shield to parry. Worst is that they don't mean what they say, all they do is cap. Leave them with truth, no need to argue with a fool. Instead, focus on the onlookers who may not be able to tell the difference. The troll already wins, when he have you become belligerent through personal attacks. Who'd ever think the world come to this. People that haven't ever accomplished nothing, always confident to criticize and to disrespect. The sad part of it is that people make a career out of doing so. No need for diploma, all you have to do is to put sense into something you do not know. Why nowadays, posting like this to raise awareness, when I debunk lies, and condone propaganda feels like a sin? They wrap this act as if you are the one who spreads toxicity. When I see thirst traps and ignorant post, I continue to scroll. Time is of the essence, why waste it on a troll.

In search of the unknown
I've read books to the back searching for something that I still haven’t found.
And maybe the answer were few pages past the place that I stopped in one of those other books, the ones that I got halfway through and decided that I knew better.
And isn’t it interesting to break it down to each pages you turn, like it's a decision to spend a few more moments in the mind of some author?
Maybe a gamble because maybe this one has something to say.
And you know what’s worse?
To labor through every tedious word of a volume completely void of substance or to shelf a book that contains all the answers a few pages too soon.
Is this a game?

Night worker's perspective
poem by Alec John Bandivas
What a scenery
Gone after work
On my way home
The crisp morning air
Swallows up every vapor
Of this cold thin air
That slightly breezes
This maroon sweatshirt
Dancing to the rhythm
Of morning rush
Billowing from the tailpipes
Of warming vehicles
And somehow remains fresh
Hear it horn and screech
As it chug away
People are getting ready
For another busy day
Headed off to distant
Places of employment
Carrying countless tired workers
Marching down the streets
Like allied soldiers
Charging toward some common villain
There's a certain camaraderie
As individuals make their ways from home's comforts
Into frigid places of opportunity
If you look around
Next time they'll stop
For routine morning coffee
Like my own scheduled puff
Of this calming cigarettes smoke
You will see in every face
A certain familiarity
Some impossible bond
As strangers simultaneously recognize
That the people around them
Are in this with them
All fighting
Different instances
Of the same ancient battles
Everybody you encounter will know exactly
How difficult it was for you
To drag yourself out of bed
They know how much
Of a tired cliche
Your job is
They get it
The impossibility
Of it all
And they realize that today
For one more day
Like fresh morning air
Taking in toxic fumes
You took your daily dose
Of the poison
And you aren't dead yet
Striving and surviving

MINSAN, KASO MINSAN
isang tula ni Alec John Bandivas
May mga pagkakataong
Gugustuhin mo nalang
At maiging tumilapon
Kaso bukod sa sayang
Wala rin naman akong sasakyang ibubundol
Pwede sigurong bala
Kaso marami pang maaring
Pag gamitan ang armas na baril
Kung lalaklakin ko naman
Itong sandamakmak na gamot
Marami pang may karamdaman
Ang mas mangangailangan
Hindi pa kabilang
Silang akin ay nasaktan
Madami pa namang nagmamahal
Sa kabila ng pagkukulang ko
Ang nakakaloko lang
Ay hindi ko alam
Ano ba 'tong lungkot na bumabagabag
Ang masakit pa
Ay hindi ko alam
Ano ba ang masakit
Ang hirap magpatuloy
Kung ang mga bagay na mahal mo
Biglang naging gawaing pangaraw-araw nalang
Ang mga taong mahal mo
Biglang nakakapagod nalang
Siguro ayun
Yung salitang nakakapagod
Ang magandang lahad sa nararamdaman
Pagod na lang sa lahat
May pag-asa pa rin naman
Pero ang mahirap doon
Hindi ko alam
Ano ba ang aasahan?
Siguro kung mayroon
Akong tatlong kahilingan
Hindi ko alam kung ano hihingiin ko
O siguro ang malaman ano ba ang dapat kong hiling
At hindi ito patas
Para akin ay damdamin
Ngayong maraming tao
Ang nagpapahalaga sa'kin
Para ang mga araw araw magpatuloy
At sumabay sa agos ng buhay
Kahit nakakapagod
At paulit-ulit
Andito pa rin ako
Nakaupo sa kwarto
Nagsusulat ng madramang litanya
Sa bintana sumilip
Ang tanglaw ng buwan at bituin
Sa ngayon, ako ay magpapatuloy
Dahil sa kinang ng kalangitan
Naisip 'kong mabuhay kahit ilang minuto lang
At syempre
Bago matapos ang gabi
Ang nagbigay ng saglit na kasiyahan
Hahanap akong muli
Ng dahilan para mabuhay

BUNDOK, DAGAT, BUWAN AT BITUIN
Gayong ikaw 'tong nagmungkahing
Mabuti at may awa yaring Siyang may likha

The Filipino First Policy was introduced and implemented by the administration of President Carlos P. Garcia. Under this policy, Filipino owned businesses were prioritized over their foreign counterparts. Locally made products were promoted over imported products as well. This policy was institutionalized under the second paragraph of Section 10, Article XII of the 1987 Philippine Constitution which states: “In the grant of rights, privileges and concessions covering the national economy and patrimony, the state shall give preference to qualified Filipinos.” Do you agree that the Filipino First Policy of the Constitution prohibits our country from participating in worldwide trade liberalization and economic globalization and from integrating into a global economy that is liberalized, deregulated and privatized?
It was on the first of January in 1995 that the World Trade Organization were established to deal with the global rules of trade between nations which includes the Philippines. Several years during our participation to global economy in 1999, the Philippines was one of the members that was able to review its trade policy. As it was concluded that “continuing liberalization helps the Philippine economy become more competitive and resilient”.
In a press release on the twentieth of September in1999, the new WTO Secretariat report, along with a policy statement by the Philippine Government, will serve as a basis for the Trade Policy Review of the Philippines which will be conducted by the Trade Policy Review Body of the WTO on 27 and 29 September.
In spite of the fact that the Philippine constitution tends to disregard the liberalized, deregulated and privatized nature of global economy, in compliance with our membership with WTO certain interventions has to happen. The report notes that progress in the privatization of state corporations has reduced the degree of state intervention in the economy. In the services sector, for example, privatization and liberalization have made significant headway in raising the competitiveness of domestic producers.
Moreover, there is no comprehensive law, nor central government agency overseeing the implementation of competition policy, and the report suggests that a comprehensive competition law would help ensure that limited market competition does not dampen the full benefits of investment liberalization and privatization.
It was also noted that the Philippines is not a party to the WTO Agreement on Government Procurement. In its procurement, the Philippine Government generally favours the purchase of domestically produced goods and services and applies certain foreign ownership limitations to suppliers.
Hence, I agree that the Filipino First Policy of the Constitution prohibits our country from participating in worldwide trade liberalization and economic globalization and from integrating into a global economy but certain provisions may invalidate and water down the said policy in our constitution making it possible for us to participate and integrate.

The countries of Armenia and Azerbaijan are currently locked in a shooting war over the disputed territory of Nagorno-Karabakh in the South Caucasus region of Europe. Turkey decided to back Azerbaijan by providing military assistance in the conflict. The United Nations Security council responded by drafting a resolution punishing the Turkish government for their active military involvement in the region. The resolution called for an economic and military embargo against Turkey. The 15 members of the Security Council took a vote on the resolution. Fourteen members voted in favor and 1 abstained. The People’s Republic of China, a permanent member of the Security Council, was the only country to abstain. Was the resolution calling for an economic and military embargo against Turkey passed by the Security Council?
Chapter V, Article 27 number 3 of the Charter of the United Nation and Statue of the International Court of Justice states that,
“Decisions of the Security Council on all other matters shall be made by an affirmative vote of seven members including the concurring votes of the permanent members; provided that, in decisions under Chapter VI, and under paragraph 3 of Article 52, a party to a dispute shall abstain from voting.”
Here we can say that The People’s Republic of China is a party to a dispute regarding the call for an economic and military embargo against Turkey. Though it was very evident that all other members of the Security Council won by an affirmative vote of fourteen.
However, it was worth mentioning that Chapter VI, under paragraph 3 of Article 52, states that “The Security Council shall encourage the development of pacific settlement of local disputes through such regional arrangements or by such regional agencies either on the initiative of the states concerned or by reference from the Security Council.” shall be met. This will impair articles 34 and articles 35 under Chapter VI which states that:
Article 34
“The Security Council may investigate any dispute, or any situation which might lead to international friction or give rise to a dispute, in order to determine whether the continuance of the dispute or situation is likely to endanger the maintenance of international peace and security.”
Article 35
“1. Any Member of the United Nations may bring any dispute, or any situation of the nature referred to in Article 34, to the attention of the Security Council or of the General Assembly.
2. A state which is not a Member of the United Nations may bring to the attention of the Security Council or of the General Assembly any dispute to which it is a party if it accepts in advance, for the purposes of the dispute, the obligations of pacific settlement provided in the present Charter.
3. The proceedings of the General Assembly in respect of matters brought to its attention under this Article will be subject to the provisions of Articles 11 and 12.”
Basically, the resolution calling for an economic and military embargo against Turkey were not passed by the Security Council and shall recourse to Article 52.

Rodrigo R. Duterte was elected President of the Philippines in 2016. After assuming office, he wasted no time lambasting the policies of the United States (US) towards the Philippines. At the same time, he also showed, through series of positive acts, his government’s pivot towards the People’s Republic of China (China). In terms of economic development, do you think President Duterte’s pivot towards China (and away from the US) will be good for the Philippines?
President Duterte’s pivot towards China will never do good for the Philippines. Like how it is often said, “Learn from the past, history repeats itself.” China has a very bad reputation with regards to their relationship with other country especially for countries that they “befriend” and “supported” through financial loans. With its economic success in global trade, China launched its ambitious $1 trillion Belt Road Initiative (BRI or New Silk Road). However, it has become clear that China has been using this mammoth project to entrap struggling economies into debt traps by corrupting the local officials respectively.
China's Belt Road Initiative victims includes:
(1)  Ethiopia, a victim of the BRI, is now essentially a Chinese colony for practical purposes. This also ties to China's influence in the WHO, as the current Director-General is from Ethiopia.
(2)  Sri Lanka forced to give up Hambantota port to China for a 99-year lease while the debt is still in play. Sri Lanka also now sports "World's Emptiest International Airport" which made Sri Lanka indebted to China more than ever.
(3)  Pakistan, giving up Gwadar port as part of the CPEC initiative which was contested as an illegitimate project as it passes through India's Kashmir.
(4)  Djibouti, which now owes so China much of its GDP that China was able to build its first military base in Africa there, even taunting a nearby US military base.
(5)  Montenegro, now owing China more than its 80% of GDP, poised to become a Chinese colony in Europe.
(6)  The Maldives, a country strategically located near to India, now owing China 100% of its GDP.
More than 70 countries are on track to be part of this modern colonization program. As a result, all of these countries essentially now have no choice but to support China in international forums, including the UN, the WHO, and the IMF. Most of these territories and Ports are now being used as Chinese naval and military bases, like how they established their own on our territory the West Philippine Sea.
To finally summarize this essay, Rodrigo R. Duterte as the president of the Philippines has the accountability of forwarding the sovereignty of our country. Therefore, we should not choose between the current “superpower country”, the United States and the upcoming “sleeping giant” the People’s Republic of China, but to advance our independence instead and to maximize our economic potential by avoiding risk and taking advantage of the globalization. It is not a choice between black and white, there’s a gray part where we can cooperate with globalization with security and safety nets.

How did globalization hasten the growth of the Filipino diaspora?
Filipino diaspora is one of the positive effects of globalization in our country. Basically, since globalization is characterized as liberalized, deregulated and privatized the process of migration towards other countries became easier and simpler as well. Globalization causes migration and migration contributes to the intensification of socioeconomic and political relations across borders. Globalization has indeed dislocated millions of people and set in motion population movements. Globalization has introduced a third set of motivations called "network" factors, which include free flow of information, improved global communication and faster and lower cost transportation. While network factors are not a direct cause of migration, they do facilitate it. Since we entered a mutual understanding towards other country as we globalized, countries who are part of this accord became accepting for us Filipino.
One of the positive impacts of globalization is that it gives the country more opportunities to increase employment which also accounts for the hastened growth of Filipino diaspora. Most of our countrymen chose to work as Overseas Filipino Worker(OFW) for a better career opportunity and to help their families here in the Philippines. Although there’re variety of reasons that lie behind migration. People may migrate in order to improve their economic situation, or to escape civil strife, persecution, and environmental disasters. Traditionally, the reasons encouraging an individual to migrate were categorized as "push" or "pull" factors.
As well as encouraging migration, globalization also produces countervailing forces. For example, as businesses grow and become more internationalized they often outsource their production to developing countries where labor costs are lower. This movement of jobs from developed nations to the developing world mitigates certain economic factors leading to migration. In other words, in a global economy jobs can move to potential migrants instead of migrants moving to potential jobs.
The impacts of migration are complex, bringing both benefits and disadvantages. Immigration provides a supply of low cost labor for host countries, while remittances from emigrant workers can be an important source of foreign income for sending nations. On the other hand, immigration can stoke resentment and fear towards newcomers in receiving states, as immigrants are discriminated against, accused of lowering wages and associated with crime, among other complaints. For the economies of sending nations, emigration leads to a loss of young, able-bodied, well-educated and otherwise economically valuable citizens.

What do you think are the positive and negative effects of globalization in the Philippines?
It is true that the Philippines were able to take advantage of the positive effects of globalization, though it brought colossal negative impacts towards the country in the long run.
Globalization has opened the doors for international standard benchmarking and linkages that reinforces what we had today in the Philippines, including our relationship towards other countries. Examples for this are more opportunities to increase employment, we were also able to adapt to stricter and more demarcated international standards with regards to health, safety, education, researches, parliament, etc., and of course, technological advancement and modernization as we are able to connect and collaborate with developed countries.
However, the problem starts when we realized that this liberalized, deregulated and privatized characters of globalization is highway for the ideology of imperialism. Weaker and poorer country suffers a lot from the concept of globalization. The Philippines for example is naturally rich in resources and supposed to be a sustainable country. We have every raw material we need, but we chose to immerse with global markets. We allow ourselves to sell cheap raw materials that is used to make iPhones (through mining), chocolates (from our agricultural produce), and as such, that we buy at a very expensive price. Because of our accord with the World Trade Organizations, farmers of our country are becoming poorer as we allow rice importations from without to little or less tariffs – which made imported rice available at a cheaper price – that is intended to compete with our locally produced rice.
We aid the problems in global market, the lack of resources to produce materials from each developed countries’ industries, while we are being taken advantaged by them. Instead of building our own industries that will reinforce the economy and that will serve our countrymen we still chose to sell what they need. On a side note, the performance and contribution of agricultural sector in the economy is dictated by the global market needs, and not by the country. For example, a thousand acres of land, owned by an elitist in our country was asked by an international business partner for clothing lines that they will be needing cottons few years from now. Now the owner of the land will invest in cotton to be planted, so that it shall be harvested few years from now and finally to profit from the produce. For years our country has less demands in cotton and currently experiencing inflation which caused increased in price of major commodities. In that scenario, aren’t we wondering why the owner still chose to serve their international business partners instead of contributing to solve high inflation in the country by increasing the supply of major commodities?
Even our Education sector is negatively affected as well. As we thrive to keep up with ‘globalization’ many Filipinos, especially those that are marginalized, suffer from this sudden, unprepared, and wasn’t even studied drastic change in our curriculum. Again, the objective of K-12 is to produce skilled individual that will provide solution towards the problem in ‘cheap labor force’ for the global market. We chose this, instead of producing fine graduates of any chosen program and help in nation building. This is how globalization functions in an under developed country.
The most common connotation when people hear “globalization” is that we are trying to catch up, we are keeping up with developed countries. We are developing, and this is a push forward towards modernization. If we think that globalization only helps us without other agendas, we have to think again. Just how my grandpa told me, “World war III is a battle of economy.”

The unrecognizable has become recognizable. Slowly permeating through relationships of all kinds. Slowly rotting the core that once thought to be filled with love. The silent hatred brought to you, us, me. Words can just be thought of as carbon dioxide spilling out of our mouths. But the intent will poison us like the inhaling of that unfiltered air. Actions taken, dreams were lost. Silent hatred brought subsequently by the piece that you picked. Make thyself endearing, not hated, once again.

The Future
He's younger than I am
And I had forgotten
How much the weight
Of the future was
Before him
Somewhere along the way
I laid down
Some of the dreams and plans
That I used to carry around
Everywhere I went
Worry is a heavy thing
And I had to put it down
So that I could carry
All of my regrets
Young people worry
About their future
The way a kitten
Chases its tail
And it's incredible
The amount of energy
One can expend
On impossibilities
But we all reach an age
Where we have to choose
Whether to allot our energy
On the future or the past
There are those of course
Who cannot decide
And begin living only
For the moment
But these are mad
Because backs are made to carry
And brows were designed
To furrow
And some would stay young
And carry nothing
And they are not
Alive
But he's younger than I
And he still likes
To chase his own tail
And that's ok
He doesn't know like I know
That in the morning
The night's regrets
Will only weigh as much
As my eyelids
And I've been to the future
And I try to explain to him
That it's nowhere near
As heavy as the past
But he doesn't get it
And I'm left with no choice
But to take his hand
And take him there
So he can see for himself
