i would cry about movies and kpop and birds flying home. i cried because there aren't any true midnight rainbows, i cried because what if cars are afraid of high speeds and that's why they shake. i cried when my friends were nice to me, i cried over good food, over kind gifts. i have cried at weddings and i have cried over fanfic.

when i talk about what happened, my body goes all numb. like everything turns static where it used to be vibrant. i shrug one shoulder and i wait for the breakdown - because it surely should be coming, right? - but somehow. somehow. this terrible open calm comes over me, a frigidity like deep ocean. i just stand there in the memory and say: yeah. i guess it shouldn't have happened.

my best tip for anyone trying to get back into reading is to remember that you can read books to avoid other responsibilities in ur life and it can become a vice if you play your cards right

at a conference I attended recently, a researcher pointed to the difficulty of finding material in archives because so much depends on the metadata and the terminology used to describe things changes over time. "it would be so helpful," the researcher said, "if I typed 'lesbian' into the library of congress database, it would also show me results that were categorised in the 50s, when the materials were interpreted as 'intimate female friendships'"

which is what tag wrangles at Archive Of Our Own do incredibly effectively: searching for "omegaverse" also leads to "alpha/beta/omega dynamics" and "alternate universe: a/b/o" and so on. but ao3 achieves this frankly incredible categorisation and indexing system by the power of countless volunteers putting in hours and hours of unpaid and unthanked free time, and it's completely understandable that most archives do not have that kind of infrastructure, but also how incredible that a fan-run website has better searchability, classification, and accessibility than the library of congress

I always wanted a project to reuse my old wedding dress, and this was the perfect fit.

Reshaping it, sewing it anew and covering up the past with sparkles, lots of painting and topping it all off with a crown, was definetly the fix it needed!
