Hello, my name is pocket. This is my Virtual Pet blog. My main focus is on Digimon, but Tamagotchi, Giga Pets, and any other oddities I find is also likely to show up, especially depending on my mood. I don't just cover virtual pets. I will cover anime, games, and merchandise relating to the virtual pets as well. Sometimes I will post virtual pet adjacent things, like handheld LCD toys, or pet toys like Furby, or pet simulation video games such as the Chao Garden of the Sonic franchise. Digimon is very famous thanks to it's anime, but I would like to focus less on Digimon anime art, as it's already popular enough, that's not to say I won't talk about or post/reblog anime at all. I just don't want it to take away from everything else about the franchise. Tamagotchi anime on the other hand doesn't even have a sub or more than one season dubbed. So I might push that in hopes of generating interest in a sub. Feel free to send an ask or submit some of your own art or some nice photos of your v-pet.

You don't know the half of it. The English manuals only include small bits of the lore.
The Japanese lore that gets left it out is that the Tamagotchi Planet became uninabitable because some drunkard Tamagotchi got the planet drunk after pouring Sake into it's mouth ( yes the planet has a mouth ) and so everyone on the planet evacuated to earth, one of the UFOs crashed into the back of the depressed scientist Professor Banzo's head and so he took it home and invented the keychain shell for the Tamagotchis to live in with the help of his young assistant Mikachu, so they can survive on Earth and be cared for by humans. There's a whole short video about it ( unsubbed sadly, with shorts showcasing the Tama personalities in the second half )

Leopatchi Obtained
Now I have a virtual Leopard Gecko to compliment my analogue Leopard Gecko.
So, I know some people aren't loving the Tamagotchi Paradise, but i'll be honest, this feels like they've made a Tamagotchi super specific to me. It feels like it's more in the spirit of vintage Tamagotchi instead of connection or modern Tama, but it IS a modern Tama. It's not perfect, I do have complaints, but nothing super egregious. When it comes to thinks to do, I don't think it beats the pix, I still prefer the daily activities and the way minigames cycle in, and I loved petting my Tama, even if the touch sensor wasn't the greatest, but I think the Paradise makes up for it with certain other things that would be a bit too esoteric to describe.

I am enjoying the Tamagotchi Paradise a lot...
But I am seeing things that I take issue with.
Aparantly once you finish raising your Tama it just kind of hangs around. Which is cool. But there's a limit to four Tamas in any field, so once you raise a fifth tama, it just leaves... you don't get to pick which one goes. That sucks. Like, if you are shooting to have four specific tama in a field and you make one mistake, that doesn't just mean you have to start over from raising that tama, that means you have to go back to raising the first tama because the one you didn't intend to get will be muscled out of the field. That is infuriating. I guess i'm kind of glad to be learning this early on, because I just made a mistake in trying to get that leopard gecko tama, and I would have hated to have already got him and then find out later that he's going to disappear from my field after I raise a fifth tama.
I wish they just kinda shuffled in and out like... "if you have raised this species of Tama before it can cycle in to the different tama you see in the field"

My Tamagotchi Paradise arrived today. I was not expecting it until Monday. I popped in some batteries and played with it for a bit, but it was late at night, so it wasn't active for too long.
I don't know that I'll be doing the "photographing the screen every single time it evolves" thing anymore, I've got bored with trying to chronicle every single v-pet I raise, at least for now... this could just be a depression thing for me, I dunno. But i'm gonna try and fully engage with this thing. Hopefully it's a nice change of pace.

In half an hour, it will be Odaiba Day, but I don't know that i'll do anything to celebrate, it's been a rough few days for me and i'm deeply mired in depression, I've also been completely distracted by gaming that i've neglected my other hobbies, I did change my v-pet out at the beginning of this month, but I've probably left it paused for most of that time and had it running for maybe an hour total.
Hopefully when my Tamagotchi Paradise gets here, i'll feel like running a v-pet again.
