“Houston, we have a problem”
“Houston, we have a problem” is a popular, but erroneous quotation that the astronaut John Swigert told Houston during a radio communication from Apollo 13. The real quotation that was pronounced exactly 50 years ago was slightly different: “We’ve had a problem here”.
I decided to use this famous error also because the glitched format I studied has the characteristic, from my point of view, to kill the image and create plane textures that remind spatial images, especially when working with black backgrounds.
The two final results have the aim to show the two main differences you can get with the pix format.
1. the mp4
Being the pix format an old Alias format for 3D renderings, I decided to create 3D words in Rhinoceros and to merge them with a glitched image using png and pix formats together. The video has 17 frame per second for a total of 125 frames and was edited with ffmpeg. The audio was added with Adobe Premiere. The final effect of spacial background was reached deleting part of the image code.
2. the gif
Starting with 3D renderings, I converted them in pix format and glitched them with 0xED. The gif (17 frame per second for 52 frames) was edited with ffmpeg. The distorted effect was reached changing blocks of the image code.

pix files: I used a glitched pix file converted into png as texture for the cube. Then I used 0xED overlapping different png converted into pix. I also rotated and mixed horizontal and vertical effects (see blu image final result).

pix files. I superimposed a rendering over an already glitched rendering ruined into a surface. The glitched focused primarily on the new image but at the end it mixed with the background. It would be interesting to see what happens with more pix files exported in png, overlapped in photoshop and exported back in pix.

Rendering with rhino + 0xED; then I added with photoshop another rendering over the first glitched become surface: I noticed that the superimposed rendering glitched as a separate layer and the deconstruction happened only horizontally. Final video with photoshop.

pix format -> I deconstructed the render, made with Rhino, with 0xED and then I created the video with photoshop and mp4box
