Job Title: SEO Consultant (Freelance or In-House) Location: Remote-first | Bristol/Bath optional for occasional meetups Salary: Competitive, based on experience | Freelance or PAYE options Type: Full-time or Part-time, flexible
Who We Are
Digital Tailors SEO is an independent, fast-growing SEO agency based in Bristol and Bath. We specialise in straightforward, effective SEO for small to mid-sized businesses across the UK — and we’re known for delivering real results without the waffle.
No jargon, no inflated reports, and no short-term hacks — just honest, well-crafted SEO that helps businesses grow. Our clients trust us to explain things clearly, do what we say we’ll do, and care about their goals as much as they do. That’s why most of our work comes from referrals and long-standing relationships.
Now we’re ready to grow — and we’re looking for an experienced SEO Consultant to join the team.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll work directly with clients to develop and deliver tailored SEO strategies that increase rankings, drive traffic, and generate leads and sales.
This isn’t a role buried behind endless reporting. It’s hands-on, practical SEO where your knowledge and instincts matter. You’ll be trusted to run your own projects while supported by a collaborative team that genuinely loves what they do.
Responsibilities:
Carrying out full site audits (technical, content, UX, and backlinks)
Developing clear, focused SEO strategies for a variety of clients
Conducting keyword and competitor research using tools like Ahrefs and SEMrush
Optimising websites: metadata, internal linking, content structure, schema markup, etc.
Supporting or briefing content creation for blogs, landing pages, or service pages
Planning and executing ethical link-building campaigns
Tracking performance in GA4, GSC, and other analytics platforms
Preparing simple, useful monthly reports that clients actually understand
Advising on SEO best practices in client meetings, video calls, and emails
What We’re Looking For
We’re after someone who knows SEO, not just someone who knows how to talk about it. You’ll need solid experience, great instincts, and the ability to explain things clearly to people who aren’t technical.
Must-Haves:
3+ years of practical SEO experience (agency, in-house, or freelance)
Strong understanding of on-page, off-page, and technical SEO
Confident using Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, GA4, and Search Console
Ability to manage your own projects, deadlines, and client communication
A clear, friendly communication style — spoken and written
A proactive, problem-solving mindset and a genuine interest in helping clients succeed
Bonus Points If You:
Have experience working with WordPress, Shopify, Wix or other CMSs
Understand Local SEO and Google Business Profile optimisation
Know how to brief writers or edit content for SEO
Are based near Bristol/Bath and fancy the odd face-to-face team meeting
What You’ll Get
We want great people to do their best work — and that means flexibility, respect, and a decent work-life balance. Whether you’re freelance or looking for something more permanent, here’s what you’ll get with us:
Flexible working – Fully remote with the option for hybrid if local
Work that matters – You’ll see the impact of what you do, quickly
Varied clients – From local trades and healthcare to ecommerce and SaaS
No micromanagement – We trust you to manage your work like a pro
No jargon – Just good communication and clear expectations
Career growth – Room to develop your skills and role as the company scales
Genuine culture – Friendly, relaxed, and zero tolerance for drama or ego
A Week in the Role Might Look Like...
Running an SEO audit for a new client and spotting quick wins
Writing metadata and optimising on-page content for a lead-gen website
Fixing a messy site structure on a local trades business website
Pulling together a simple monthly SEO report for a client (with zero jargon)
Planning internal content clusters to build authority in a niche sector
Briefing a writer on a blog series for a growing ecommerce brand
Checking in with the founder to troubleshoot a weird traffic dip
Celebrating a client hitting the #1 spot for their main keyword (with coffee or cake)
The Ideal Fit
This role is perfect for someone who’s tired of big agencies, red tape, or being a cog in a machine. You’re someone who:
Gets satisfaction from helping clients grow their business
Likes autonomy, but still enjoys working as part of a friendly team
Is proactive and organised, not waiting to be told what to do next
Appreciates a bit of dry humour, a good meme, and no drama
Isn’t chasing corporate titles — just wants to do good work with good people
How to Apply
No cover letter required. Just send us:
Your CV or LinkedIn
A short note about your SEO experience
One project you’re proud of (and what you did)
Whether you’re looking for freelance or permanent
Your availability and rates or salary expectations
Send it to: [email protected]
We’ll reply to everyone we think might be a fit — and we aim to keep the process quick, informal, and transparent.
