it all happened so fast. one moment, pip was there and the next his head was slamming right into guilmon's chest. the breath was knocked out of his lungs as he soared backwards, his spine scraping against the dirt as he made contact with the earth below.

guilmon grunted weakly, trying to push himself up to stand once again. this digimon, though he had evolved twice, was still a child. a newbie. a rookie type, to be honest. he didn't have the skill or power most digimon- or pokemon it seemed -had.

and it showed.

he finally managed to stand, a clawed hand pressed against his aching chest. it ached in more than one way, but he wouldn't stand down.

the air suddenly felt cold, his own maw parting and filling with heat.

"pyro sphere!" guilmon shouted, just as a red ball of searing flames shot from his maw to meet the ice beam in the middle.

[ PETTING ZOO ] for our muses to spend some time in the petting zoo - “All right. So, this critter here is called a pig. They are pretty smart and they are absolutely cute!” Harmony gestures to the large spotted pig. The pig leisurely rolls in the kiddie pool full of clean water, looking at the Salamon and the woman accompanying it.

“Oink?” The pig perks one ear up in intrigue. “And oh! And this-“ Harmony’s eyes light up when she spots what looks like a loving ball of white fluff. “This is a chicken! Actually, there are many different breeds of chickens, and this one is a silkie.”

“Ba-GAWK!” The silkie hen squeaks in surprise when Harmony gently lifts her up from the petting zoo’s ground. “This one is a silkie. They get their name for their feathers.” Harmony’s eyes light holds the hen closer to Salamon to look her over.

“Bawk?” The hen cocked her head to the side when she sees the digimon, as though she’s intrigued by the other creature. “As you can see, the silkie’s feathers are fluffier than other chickens, like that small flock over there.” Harmony points to three larger hens clucking amongst themselves while scratching the ground.

It’s apparent the silkie is not scared, even closing her eyes and purring when Harmony strokes her back. “You can pet her, if you like. She won’t hurt you. Just be gentle, okay?”

[Not sure if you know this but chickens can purr. Still debating on a name for Salamon. I want it to be a good one.]

"oh! oh! i've seen that look like pigmon before!" the salamon chirps in delight, peering over the fence on its hind legs. "but they look a little different."

it didn't notice the hen until harmony pointed it out, blue eyes widening. it had seen avian digimon before, but this creature...this...henmon...

"it looks like a cloud!"

salamon catiously walked forward, as if any sudden movements would scare the hen into a frenzy, even if it was content as it was now. "i didn't know birds could purr..." it mused, raising a delicate paw to press against the silkie's back.

"are they related to cats?" it asked, following up with an awed "whoa...so soft..." as it began properly petting the beautiful chicken.

"i eat boys up! breakfast and lunch! then when i'm thirsty, i drink their blood!"

the egg shatters. well, at least the bottom half does.

it appeared in the manor out of nowhere. out of thin air, it seemed. and as soon as it was discovered, it began to hatch. cracks crawled along the surface of white and green before the bottom half just...exploded.

yellow yolk dribbled from the bottom. maybe the egg was dead or...

"yoyo!" the baby yolkmon cried. it slithered closer to her, like a slug in a garden. "yoyo!"
