lmao... yall deserve an elaboration! my credentials are that i've spent a formidable time in each region <3 these are mostly generalization, so it won't be completely accurate! for example: glendale and compton are NOT the same despite being in LA county, i'm well aware! also, no sotr tributes. i haven't gotten a feel of them yet

like central valley, they're unassuming, but they leave an impact once you really look into it

idk... they seem like nature people... central valley is filled with so many amazing natural views and hidden gems. AND bc it's in the center (hence the name...) of the state, is only a few hours drive away from deserts, beaches, and forests! lots of fruits and produce grow there (and 99% of US almonds)

really hard for them to explain where they live. it's not SF, and it's not LA, it's a couple hours away from both of these respective cities, but no one can point it out geographically

Big fan of D4 being a tourism area but in a way that still oppresses them, as so happens in real life. I also HC'd a water limit on 90% of D4

absolutely! these are my hcs too <3 i'm glad we share a similar thought

the tropical paradise often portrayed in d4 aesthetics is, i believe, the capitol's version of the district! fish stink. the ocean stinks. what just touched my foot while wading in the waters of the beach? i don't know!!! but it stinks!!! and the weather is volatile by the coast. it's absolutely freezing in the mornings, then you get sunburn by noon. sometimes, it's just fog for hours!

one piece of culture shock that the tourists definitely get is the fact that their restaurants and markets have fish in murky tanks (similar to asian supermarkets)... just staring at them... it makes them uncomfortable, which is ironic given the hunger games' existence.

i believe there is a section of the coast that is completely off limits and only for tourist use. california has been in a drought for decades, and yet, the rich act like it's not! "save water" has been ingrained in children from a very early age, but this responsibility only falls on the lower class. the capitol can have it all! my hc is that water is only limited to a certain number of hours of a day, which is typically in the morning, so they definitely rush to get the water they need for the day: bathing, drinking water, cooking, and more.

"district 4 is so beautiful this time of year!" does not hold true for its citizens, unfortunately </3

sorry that you needed to clarify! 😭 i actually do think so, especially with how d4 is geographically in the pacific ocean. my main hc for this is that the hawaiian or pacific islander population in d4 are the main seafarer groups, but travel has definitely been restricted as the years in panem went on. so, like the covey, those that settled were rounded up

the asian seafarers brought about bamboo to d4, which proved to be a vital plant for building and eating. the hpi seafarers brought their songs and tattoos/artistic patterns. what do we think about fire dancers in d4? i'm on board with it!

one thing the movies did do right, to me, was stick district 4 on the west coast. a very long strip of land, with enough ecological diversity to meet the demand for different types of sealife.
