broke: actually price was always awful and abusive and it was terrible for chip the whole time

woke: one time rueben giggled and pushed chip down to hide behind a trashcan and nudged him with his elbow and grinned at him and whispered "check this shit out" and darted out to steal sweet buns from a pastry cart and brought them back to chip and handed one off to him as they ran and they both laughed as they licked icing off their fingers

modern au price and chip would've been so so codependent through school, until they graduated and had a huge fight, causing them to go separate ways and vow to never contact each other again. and while chip's life drastically improved (mental health boost, healthier friendships, accepting himself more), price's life went in the opposite direction. and now he has a jealous grudge so bad that he occasionally stalks chip's irregularly updating socials under fake accounts that switch up every so often. meanwhile chip only thinks about price once in a blue moon and flinches at the thought, but also really misses him

chip despite what he says has morals, dubious as they might seem.

what happened to those morals once THAT memory was taken away. the blood on his hands from that night has been covered by a memory washed away.

what happened to those morals then. blood shed no longer staining his memory.

when he fights he doesn’t fear that he is adding to that stain because simply it doesn’t exist. the people he burnt and escaped from are gone from his consciousness. the crushing guilt was stolen from his conscious.

in battle he stops holding back his hits. his sword striking true over and over. jay and gill notice this but know not to comment. their friend had changed since that day, his eyes still full of shame and sadness but he blinks through it.

how do you tell your best friend he scares you now. how do you even start that conversation. the moral he once held with an iron will has snapped and faded away, seemingly without him even caring.
