I can only describe Guadalupe Inn as a hidden treasure. By far some of the best tacos I've every had. It's fairly difficult say if I liked the Queso Fundido more than the tacos de carne asada. Grilled cheese and fries is a weird test satisfying combo. The general atmosphere of this place is pretty cool. Bolivian Llama Party... surprisingly not the name of some new underground punk band. I came by their food stand at 34- Herald Square but have been told they have a location in the Columbus Circle subway. Both orders consisted of toasted fries wth bits of parsley on each. One order has a chipotle sauce on it with powdered cayenne on top. The other order consists of just a cilantro sauce. Crispy calamari with lemon and a pork chop sided with caramelized apple pieces and spinach. Nothing to say about the calamari. It was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. The pork chop was very juicy however slightly tough to to cut but all in all an incredible meal. This was my second time to this restaurant. Today's order consisted of A plate of chicken and waffles with a side of macaroni and cheese spring rolls. Unfortunately after two separate dinning experiences I can honestly say this restaurant doesn't know how to make Mac n cheese. Not only did the mac n cheese taste bad but the roll it was in completely falls apart and crumbles after one bite. This was what I would call a gimmick meal; a meal that looks interesting but ultimately fails to satisfy your taste. The chicken and waffles however were made exquisitely. The waffles were fluffy and absorbed the syrup allowing the it permeate throughout the waffle making each bite heavenly. The chicken was crisp and crunchy. You could fully taste the herbs and spices that were blended into the batter that made this chicken so fresh. Fish taco with Mayan mayo (a mix of cilantro, carrots, mayo and a chili curry) and red onion shavings on top sided with chips a guac. This fish itself could be made to be a bit crispier but overall a great lunch or after work meal. The taco gets a huge kick of flavor from the mayo which is then complimented well with the onion. The chips and guac are always a safe side but this was unfortunately a slight let down. The avocados within the guac could have been cut more to avoid consistently picking up whole uncut pieces. At the same time while I could easily taste the avocado and lemon/lime that was all I tasted. The guac was missing some other vital ingredients that could easily have taken it to another level.
