this is so fucking sad

these are two art posts i've made (granted the second one is a shitpost but its also sad that a shitpost got more engagement than an actual drawing. Not to mention, even when I do get a lot of engagement its still a horrid ratio

and the only fucking reason I got that many reblogs is because my friend @moderndaymadscientist took it upon themselves to reblog it multiple times. They do this even if its something they wouldn't normally have on their blog. Maybe take a note and do what they do; reblog your friend's art. I'm not saying you have to reblog something I made 40 times but it can be really helpful to reblog it just once. Likes don't do anything because it doesn't show a post to anyone else it just sits there because even though likes are public people on here don't look at them so it does nothing. To reiterate, I shouldn't be seeing these ratios on my art posts and its main reason I barely post my art on here anymore. Its discouraging to artists to see that something they worked for hours or even days on get so little reblogs. Its not like I haven't been vocal about this before either, it literally says it on my pinned post, first thing.

and yes I'm aware ppl will see the font and won't take it seriously but that's the point, I wanted it to be funny, I don't want to have to be aggressive about it because that turns people away most of the time. However I can understand if maybe you don't want something on your blog but then you can just, not engage at all, its that easy. I also know that some people are new to Tumblr and don't know how it works, and its not their fault. We as the people who have been here longer though, should be teaching them that reblogs are better than likes. It not just the community's fault though, it is the site's as well; the algorithm doesn't show things you hit like on to other people so the only choice is to reblog things.

TLDR: Reblogs are better than likes because it can show a post to other people and spread it around. If you don't want to reblog something than don't engage at all. It doesn't take that long to reblog a post though and it helps ppl on here out, especially artists.

and lastly, I hate to sound like a broken record, but if you only like my posts without reblogging, you will be blocked. I'd rather have no engagement from you on my posts than a singular like.
