my soul NEEDS david tennant to play a tom clarkson type role (grief-stricken teacher who cares for nothing else but the wellbeing of his various fostered children, who would sacrifice his life if it meant saving one of his students) (also he's funny) (daddy issues)

You think Odysseus was Homer's favorite blorbo because of the amount of details he put in his descriptors. I think Odysseus was Homer's favorite blorbo because of the absolute hell he put him through. You cannot convince me that The Odyssey wasn't just someone going buck wild with their favorite oc—because that's exactly what it was.

I mean, Freya in God of War Ragnarok, the rage of Cabanel's Fallen Angel, they simply go hand in hand in the first part of the game. I might do a full body art too in the future.

Freya and Baldur: What a Mothers Selfish Love Can Do To A Relationship (Spoilers for God of War 2018 and God of War Ragnarök)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note: I am not hating on Freya at all in this. I love Freya as a character and she is one of my favorite female video game characters ever. This is just an essay about her choice and how it affected her and Baldur's relationship.
Freya and Baldur were first introduced to the players in God of War 2018, Baldur being the villain and Freya being an important character that helped Kratos and Atreus a couple of times in the game.
Baldur and Freya are mother and son as it is shown later on in the game, but they have a tragic relationship, one where Baldur hates and despises her for a choice she made when he was born.
For context, there was a prophecy that when Baldur was born that he was supposed to die, but Freya didn't want that because this was the first child she ever had and I think in the games at least that Baldur was her only child.
Since Freya didn't want her son to die she put a spell on him where he couldn't die and he was immortal, but at the cost of that Baldur would not be able to feel or taste anything, and this is the choice that lead Baldur to hating Freya and never speaking to her at all.
This choice was very selfish of Freya to make. I am not a mother, but I have watched and took care of my baby cousins enough to know that a mother will do anything to protect her child no matter what, and that's what Freya was doing here with Baldur.
It was not her decision to make, and Baldur has every right to hate his mother because of what she did, but Freya does not regret what she did and tries to make amends for it with Baldur towards the end of the game, but he pushes her away.
And again, he has every right to because she made a choice for him that ruined his chance at having a good life (Not that he would have one either way tbh).
Now because of this I see some people say that Freya was the true villain of God of War 2018, but I don't think that's true and I think that's the most dumbest thing I heard because of one simple fact.
Before the final last fight with Baldur Atreus manages to use a part of a mistletoe arrow to hurt Baldur and that causes his spell to be broken, allowing him to finally feel things for the first time.
Now he could have thanked them and walked away, starting a new life of his own and even with time mending a broken relationship with Freya. Instead he decided to continue to fight Kratos and Atreus, Kratos even giving Baldur a chance to change his ways before he snaps his neck and kills him.
Baldur even tries to choke his mother and Freya even allows him to do so before Kratos stops him.
Both Freyas and Baldurs side are valid in some ways. Freya, as a mother, wanted to protect her child because that's what any parent would want for their children. Baldur wants to have a life where he can be normal, a life where he can feel everything.
But because of Freyas choice Baldur can't have that life, so he despises her for that, but Freya still loves him and that shows when he tries to kill her. Freya lets him because it's the only thing that will make either Baldur to stop hating her or to make amends and have him forgive her.
But Freya was never the bad guy, in Baldurs story she absolutely was the villain, but in the game Baldur is the villain because of the choices he made that ultimately lead to his own death and the start of Fimbulwinter which lead to Ragnarök.
A mothers love can be selfish and love should never be selfish, and because of this Freya learned and paid the price for it. She had a reason to do what she did, but that did not give her the right and Baldur had every reason to hate her.
But, Freya gets amazing character development in the next game, so there will be a part two to this at some point.

sometimes a family is a god with the emotional intelligence of a grape (but he’s trying), his incredibly reckless son, a goddess with an in quenchable thirst for blood, a decapitated smartass, a short king who can’t go thirty seconds without saying something out of pocket, and another short king but with anxiety
