I hate when a tiny stupid thing pushes you over the edge and makes you freak the fuck out because it makes you look like a completely irrational tar pit of a human being. one thing I really appreciate in the game is how it deals with Gustave's shutdown at the beginning. the fact Gustave doesn't say a word from the moment he gets separated from Maelle during the beach attack until the moment he meets Lune, how he doesn't bother with the lumina converter at all, and then the gun of course

But like, in another game he would have probably woken up and immediatly said something like "what happened? I need to find the others" (quest pop up) or had a dramatic breakdown immediatly on waking up, but no. he's silent, he's out of it, he's still in shock, going through the motions well enough to survive but he's not really processing. there are no unnatural little comments about the tutorials, no "oh a grapple point" or anything like that, and I really appriciate that. that the game allows us to marinate in the moment rather than pulling us away to do tutorializing
