Thank you for this note! I appreciate you putting the time to comment on this! And yeah, this is what I get for not fact checking as much as is necessary re: store closing (I heard a rumor on this hellsite and as someone who's nearly always sewing I Panicked.)
To all my crutch using loves who sew or know someone who can sew for you!
The brand Simplicity, a well known pattern company, is going out of business along with Joanne's (馃槶) BUT it means they have a pattern for a crutch pad, bag and toe cover for $2!! Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Alas I do not know, and I also heard from another source saying that Simplicity is saying they're NOT closing but.... The sales are still very good... And I'm still a little bit suspicious cause corporations can and will lie lmao. We'll see.

Update: there's more, I was only aware of the first one in my earlier post. I'll break it down into categories
WHEELCHAIRS, WALKERS AND CRUTCHES
Chair accessories bundle
Walker Bag
Crutches accessories bundle, forearm and under arm
ADAPTIVE CLOTHING
Adult Bib
Adaptive Cardigan, unisex, for adults
Poncho with detachable hood, unisex, adult
Recovery gowns, unisex, adult
Chemo Head Coverings
Button up shirts, unisex, adult
FIDGETS AND OTHER COMFORT AIDS
Quilted fidget pages
Hot/Cold Pack
Not all of these are on mega sale but there are a few, more might be as the store gets closer to close, and I think it's a good master post. If any of the links are messed up, reblog and let me know which one I don't have the spoons to double check em all right now! Thank u!

Diabetes isnt the 'ate too many sweets disease'. It just fucking is not. It's your body slowly losing an integral function needed to nuture and energize it. Its your pancreas shutting down, its your blood cells rejecting your attempts to feed itself, its not enough insulin to go around. Its you slowly getting colder and weaker, gorging yourself with healthy food and getting next to no benefit, its being so exhausted you cant sleep. Diabetes used to kill, straight-up KILL. So no, I don't think I will be laughing at your diabetes joke.

new DID resources!
Dear DID/OSDDers on Tumblr,
There is a new workbook due out in March that you may find helpful. The author is a psychologist based in Australia; she specialises in DID, OSDD, trauma recovery amongst other things. Here is a link to her practice.
The author is a member of the ISSTD (International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation) as of 2020
She holds a Masters of Professional Psychology, Graduated in聽2017
She is also the author of the book "my mommy has multiple parts" - the children's book about parents with DID
Here is a link to her psychology today page
I am most excited for this to release! I hope someone else may find it helpful <3

Really wish I saw more art of deformed characters. More diversity in bodies. I feel like people are scared to draw us because they鈥檙e worried they鈥檒l do it wrong or something. But 1. wrong and trying is better than nothing, and 2. you can always ask somebody for input. There are always people who are willing to answer your questions, you just have to find them. My asks are always open and I know a to of other people who are like that, too.

Autistic Person: "We need these accommodations."
Neurotypical Person: "But if we give them to you, we'll have to give them to everyone else too."
Autistic Person: "Then do that. No, really. We would love it if everyone got these accommodations. Not only would it help to remove the stigma, but it would also help those who need them and haven't been diagnosed."
Neurotypical Person: "Hey! I was just trying to bully you! How dare you respond by making sense!"

Amnesia in DID/OSDD can be:
Missing chunks of your childhood memories
Suddenly finding yourself in a place you don't remember going
Blinking, and suddenly, hours/days/weeks+ have passed
But it can also be:
Skipping or doubling medications because you don't know if they've been taken already
Retelling the same story to someone sometimes only minutes or hours apart
Being called a liar because you don't remember something you did/said
Your credit card declining because you don't remember spending money
Panicking when you realize you forgot a conversation and what if you said things you shouldn't have
Missing appointments or showing up on the wrong day
Finding things in the trash that you tried to hide from yourself
Obsessively checking the clock and calendar to remember what time/day it is
Yes, many of these are things most people experience. Forgetfulness is not anything abnormal. The thing to differentiate is the distress it causes along with the "not-me" sense that comes with these DDs, the feeling of passive influence or vaguely shared internal memories or mentally staring into a void searching for a crumb of memory and finding nothing but void.

btw, as someone with hypermobile ehlers-danlos who self-injects HRT, i wanted to take the time to recommend liquid bandage to anyone else with hEDS and any other conditions that cause one to have easily damaged skin!

i use the Walmart brand but it is the same as this one here! they generally contain antiseptic as well, so it helps sterilize the injection site as well! i've included the back of the package to show the active ingredients, make sure you check just to be safe if you have allergies to certain medications. it peels off super easy, i never notice when it comes off, whereas with latex and fabric bandages, it would pull and tear my skin too much, to the point where it would cause bleeding. this does the trick with no pain or skin damage!

me carrying a stuffed animal around while being disabled is not "infantilizing disability"
I am an actually disabled person who carries a stuffed animal as comfort bc disability is hard
what's "infantilizing disability" is assuming that just bc I carry a stuffed animal I'm not capable of making decisions for myself. or that having a stuffed animal makes me a less serious, adult person than you are.
