this is in regard to how you feel about romance in real life around or involving yourself (repulsed being even pda makes you uncomfortable, favorable being you enjoy or even seek out romance)

I HAVE THE POWER OF THE POLL AND SO...
These are really basic soups and I would've added more, but there was a limit. I'm tagging @rillette because they love soup :)

I gotta say, so much queer intra-community horseshit dropped off my shoulders when I decided to adopt a firm policy that everyone is the expert in their own identity, the single most knowledgeable person about what it's like to live life in their own skin, and that if someone describes their experience in ways I find contradictory or paradoxical I should do them the courtesy of presuming that they are striving to express something very specific and nuanced, rather than leaping to the conclusion that they're just dumb and using words wrong.
Sure, there are some combinations of identity terms that I look at and go "hmm, I don't get how that works." I'm still a human being. But there's a big difference between not getting how something works versus insisting that it doesn't.

Hot take: the majority of queer coding relies on the assumption that platonic relationships cannot be as deep or caring as romantic ones. I recognize that queer coding is important to many people, but I think it can and should be done in a less amatonormative way. We as a society need to get better at facing the hard truth that many things that bring comfort, joy, and belonging also perpetuate truly harmful ideals.

My butch and I are both lesbians. We are, neither of us, men.
But I call him my boyfriend. I call him my boytoy, my boy, sir, Mr., guy. Cause this language makes him happy. It supports his gender and expression, and it makes him happy.
Butches of all flavors and types have been using he/him pronouns and masculine language forever. Butches have been called boy, guy, boyfriend. Butches have used "traditionally masculine" names like Mitch, Ed, Mac, Joe.
Cause guess what?
Language is fake! It's all made up! If it makes you happy, use it! Wanna call yourself "boy," even if you're not a man? Do it! Wanna be called "boyfriend," even if you're not a guy? Go for it!

We gotta do this again goyische gay tumblr? Please don’t use the aesthetic of the pink triangle with cutesy gay sayings on it. It’s holocaust imagery and it’s incredibly disrespectful.

what if I told you that
"aromantic and asexual are two separate identities and grouping them together/conflating the two only further propagates stigma and misinformation about both"
and
"asexuality and aromanticism have faced many of the same struggles when it comes to rights, representation, and visibility, and that's one of the reasons it's so important that we stand up for each other"
and
"for some people, their own lack of romantic attraction and lack of sexual attraction are intrinsically linked, and it's important that those people feel included in all aspec spaces because they are an important part of our community"
are all ideas that can and must coexist
