Europeans talk about how Americans never shut up. Yall LITERALLY never shut the fuck up, yall be starting shit like world wars first
#genuinely europeans get on my nerves the older i get like stfu literally no one cares about your food drinks alcohol etc#it literally means nothing at the end of the day#this why i get along best with non white/non european and american people#cause mfs do not act like that and have been taken advantage of by europe and america

[spoilers] yes lisa frankenstein is a wonderful, campy, cute good-fo-her adaptation for all the austen/shelley/bronte-loving weird girlies but what I keep thinking about is how it's also a meditation on how society doesn't want/ doesn't want to deal with female trauma (and weird girls). the way lisa's (enfuriatingly) deabeat dad barely looks at lisa but embraces taffy (who is 'successfully' a girl: happy, pretty, and not posing problems for anyone), the way those neighbours literally ignore lisa as she is chased by an intruder (who is literally a parallel to the axe murderer that killed her mom) - lisa's trauma is seen as some kind of wilful refusal to fit into the status quo and even makes her the target of further (gleeful) abuse by her stepmom (who threatens to literally lock her away for being 'weird'). and it's not just a lisa thing; the scene that struck me was taffy, covered in blood, crying, traumatised, and that stranger who looks and then ignores her. taffy as a popular girl and cheerleader and daddy's darling is always looked at favourably, alsways an object of positive attention-- right up until she has a problem. anyway and then something something about lisa finding companionship in another other and her choosing (un)death as a radical escape from and rejection of this status quo that cannot/ doesn't want to accomodate her and many more thoughts but that's all for now thank you
#lisa frankenstein#i agree#plus lisa wasn't lonely in the end and was accepted by a dead man#i feel like no one truly had her back in the end and neither did anyone have the sister when she was bloody and messed up#this movie also touches on themes of women needing to fit and idea standard at all times#like this showed what girls and adult women still go through today#this movie also gives hope if you're a weird girl like eventually someone is going to love you for you#tbh I would've been her friend cause i genuinely saw parts of myself in her#especially how death doesn't bother her nor did it scare her which is literally me

one detail that i love is that lisa is less doctor frankenstein but more mary shelley despite the movie's title. lisa's introduction is her stone rubbing the creature's headstone while mary learned to write using her mother's gravestone. lisa isn't a scientist she's a seamstress which is closer to mary's profession as a writer. they're women who lost their mothers at a young age and were outcasts in their respective societies. both having an odd relationship with death, finding love and comfort in it. mary connects with her mother through her grave like how lisa does with the creature's. at it's core it's a movie about grief and the non-finality of death.
it's also a campy movie about a devoted zombie romantic who would chop dicks off for their goth wife which i think stays true to the spirit of mary shelley.

I love that all the body parts used to repair the creature in Lisa Frankenstein were things that hurt her when attached to the living person they came from. Like, Lisa's stepmom never listened to her, so creature took her ear and always listened, that guy whos name I don't remember tried to assault her with his hand, but creature took it and touched her gently with it, and that other guy whos name I also don't remember fucked her stepsister with his dick, but creature took it and fulfilled Lisa's dying wish with it. Idk, it's cute to me and I want someone like that.
#lisa frankenstein#fr it was very symbolic#he took it and basically showed her how she should be treated with those new body parts#i did know the sister was fucking that guy though when she got a hickey#im still laughing how he got his dick chopped off like he deserves that#the step mom never listened but she also acted like she was important and special over fake shit#her daughter fell into that too like never trust people who are flat out like i have psychic powers like it saved neither of them

find a man who cherishes you enough to cut off the dick of the man who has scorned you in order to use it to tenderly make love to you after proposing with a peach ring so that you do not have to die a virgin and can instead live on forever with him while he regularly brings flowers to your gravesite and tends to your undead body's electrocution wounds as he reads percy bysshe shelley's poetry to you. do NOT settle for less.
#lisa frankenstein#the way i wanted to share a post of that scene so badly but it was making my phone wonky#but yea literally he never liked that guy she wanted and i didnt like him either#i dont even blame him chopping that mf dick off then wanting it sewed on#i wouldve done the same#im glad they got to be together in the end to keep each other's selves and memories alive#im still glad the mom died the whole family was giving me evil/idgaf/lying vibes#but anyways this movie makes me wish i had a connection like this#i wouldve prolly fallen immediately in love and said fuck everyone else if I was her#but damn watching monster relationship movies back to back ( < . > )

thinking about this underwater kiss scene again from the shape of water and feeling as if my own lungs are drowning in the most beautiful of ways.
amphibian man sees no urgency in reaching eliza as they both sink slowly downward. he recognises now that they are in his place of existence: somewhere he rules and feels alive. he trusts his surroundings and abilities so he just takes a moment to admire eliza as she ends her above-water, human journey.
he swims carefully up to her, inspecting all of her physical being as if he hasn’t seen the details before…he’s seeing her for the first time in a light that enhances his sight. he finally gets to see her purest form clearly as they float in the depths.
I never quite knew what ‘caressing’ really looked like before he reaches out to eliza here. the gentle traces of her features and how he holds her with such a soft approach is the very definition of caressing - the word rolls off the tongue as his webbed hands glide across her skin.
when he eventually grasps her cheeks to kiss her, still no urgency is seen. he takes his time moving towards her, visually marking her closed eyes before he closes his own.
his lips fit against hers as if they were made for each other; he quite literally breathes new life back into his beloved and pulls back to wait for said life to strike her stilling heartbeat.
amphibian man moves down eliza’s body with grace as he waits for her to take her first breath of water; he holds her hands in his but leaves enough space in front of her face so that the sudden shock of the new surroundings doesn’t frighten her. he makes sure he is holding her body close for comfort but watches this spectacle of rebirth happen from an angle below.
everything about the film is heavenly, but this closing scene is unbelievable. it makes me cry every time I watch it and my heart always speeds up until they fade out of frame embracing each other. I wish to find new life in love like them, I wish…
#I literally cried the last time at this scene and i feel like crying thinking about it!!#this was pure natural love to me#many can relate to her... the creature represents a person irl who is not liked/not seen as a person#if i do recall in movies where someone turns/is a monster if it is a man or woman it represents a rejected person in society#so since this movie had marginalized characters it makes sense and it is realistic of them to know and understand the situation#so due to their own understanding and love of elisa they support her in her connection with a creature#also these marginalized characters were not shown any love towards them such as the man from the restaurant#and zeldas husband never cared for her but instead jeopardizes elisa#i find it interesting that they also make the russian scientist a non liked societal person due to where he is from#so of course he has a heart and conscious and didn't want the creature to die for he too represents aid for the marginalized#i hated strickland im glad he got what he deserved which was for him to die in silence#he represents the evil in many forms and he preys on marginalized people while only seeing those who are white like him as a person#which essentially makes him a character who embodies basically fascism and other things#okay enough of my rant

If I dial that number, it's just gonna be him clapping a handful of shit on my head. Then there will be this ominous putrid shit smell that won't leave and I gotta burn an entire place down
If chief keef was my man and he farted on me, I don't know if I'd get up and run away in silence or smack the fuck out of him
#poopoo man is his alter ego that walks the line of trolling to pure “okay that ruined everything”#poopoo man is his threat and i do not need thst#that is worse than blowing new jersey up#mf gonna come in your house clogging the toilet up then making every toilet paper roll vanish#and he does it when you're going to explode#this also worse than freddy krueger
