Alright! I let the video simmer a little bit out in the wild, so I figured I should go ahead and upload the actual finished piece here lol. Been a little while, but I've been busy, I promise! Work (so much), moving, painting, self care, etc. etc. It's a lot some days! That said, I did manage to whip this bad boy out not too far back and just got my hands on the finished timelapse. Many, many thanks again to my boy Kizzle The Konqueror for the music, editing, help filming, moral support, and general body doubling haha. Anyways, I'll be posting an actual finished shot of this... hmmm probably tomorrow. Working on something a bit more grandiose in scale currently, so wish me luck! Last day before my big move tomorrow! Hit up the park to say my goodbyes, it's been witness to many a good and bad day for me. This move should mean lots of positive things though! Check it out! This one's got me feeling wavy! Found myself looking through my visual library and stumbled across a really cool statue of Poseidon/Neptune and felt super inspired. It seemed like a nice little challenge for myself while also being a pretty sweet subject matter to begin with. I love the way they capture expressions and such in the old sculptures. I've been struggling with anxiety and depression for a while now, a good long while. Sometimes it's been worse than others, sometimes I told myself I was actually fine, for a little while I even convinced myself that I wasn't depressed at all, but it's something I've held with me for more years than I care to count. I let this ruin relationships and fuck up my life, just sort of wallowing in it along the way, willfully ignorant and stubbornly refusing any and all attempts at help. Recently however, I ruined the one relationship that meant the most to me and lost my best friend in the world, my lover, and my confidant. I sincerely, more than I can put into words, wish that it hadn't taken so long or such serious actions, but this was a wakeup call to me. Can't say that I'm thankful it happened obviously but I AM thankful to finally realize how deep and dark the hole I'd dug for myself had gotten. I've been told many times to go see a therapist or to seek help in some form but… I don't know, I guess a mix of shame, stubbornness, being scared to re-open old wounds, and of course anxiety left me actively pushing against anything of the sort. Enter @aesoprockwins Aesop's song Get Out Of The Car has always been a huge inspiration for me the few times I would let my mind even consider therapy. Aes has a way of putting into words emotions and thoughts that I've had nebulously floating around in my head and heart for a long time. This song takes place in his car, sitting in front of a therapists office, and deals with his own mental health at a low point in his life before finally telling himself to "get out the car, Aes" and into therapy. This all inspired me to work on the piece you're seeing now. This is me getting out of the car. This is me seeking help. This is me wanting to live a normal life without carrying this burden constantly. This is me hoping to become the person she once thought I was. This is me trying to heal, trying to become whole again, trying to be at peace in my own skin, trying to calm the turmoil in my mind. This is not just me. Apologies for the double post, I just noticed that the update/text that was supposed to accompany the pic did not in fact post. Sooo, here: Hello everyone, I just wanted to take a moment and provide an update to people to prove that I'm still alive and (somewhat) functioning. Back on the 27th of June the love of my kitty life Harley, pictured above, passed away in my arms. It was a pretty rough couple of weeks leading up to what unfortunately wound up being an even more difficult day and has once again returned to being a pretty rough couple of weeks. So first off, please, go take a moment and give your pets a big hug and smother them with some affection for me. Also, if you see a change in behavior in your animal, and if you're able, please go have them checked out at the vet sooner than later. Otherwise though, as mentioned, the days since have been pretty rough and have honestly left me questioning what I'm going to do with my art. Harley had always been a little mascot for me in my mind. I took this picture, I don't know, maybe like 5 or 6 years ago at this point and it made my heart melt. I've had it as my PC wallpaper since and even threw it up on the main page of my website. Even when I didn't believe in me, I had Harley there looking at me with her unwavering kitty love and support. Now that she's gone, it honestly feels like a part of me died. The part of me that found enjoyment and relief in the act of drawing/painting. The part of me that wanted to put myself out there and have people look at my art, chancing that people would either hate it or, perhaps worse in some ways, that it get ignored completely. I try to think now about what I might even want to draw and most of me just wants to respond with "What's the point?" and the rest is just indifferent to the whole thought. ...... This might be a little late to the party, but I finally finished up my take on the Sailor Moon redraw challenge. I did my best to stay in line with the original but also wanted to make her a little bit of a badass at the same time. So here we are! I need to look into some other challenges that might be out there or set up my own I think. One of my cats is quite sick at the moment, so the creativity hasn't quite been as free flowing as I normally like. Something like that might help me continue to produce while my brain is a sad mush 🤷‍♂️ That probably doesn't sound like it, but I am trying to stay positive overall. Anyways, hope you dig it! Been struggling to get the time I need to crank out too much art BUT I was able to finish up this guy...... who is apparently slightly too tall to fit into one Instagram post. Nice. Anyways, this is another design I did based off an old drawing I did back in like 2009 back when I first started drawing tattoo flash and such. Highly improved upon however! I got to try out a new technique too with the galaxy bit in the handle, which was pretty fun to do actually. I'll have to keep that one floating around the toolbox. Just finished up what may be the cutest thing I have ever painted (it's a close call versus the alpaca painting tbh lol). It was a fun one too! It's so freakin' vibrant lol.
