Hello, Archivist. Good day to you. My friend and I have noticed a peculiar thing about observatories. They're great as places of power of the Vast, of course, but they're also named like a potential location for a ritual of the Eye. So, what do you say? How much of your Patron is present in a place intended for mine?
It is a harmonious collaboration that lets curious minds at once lose themselves in research and in infinity 💜

I’ve come to make a statement, as well as get any advice I can.
I was recently on a trip with some of my friends, and one of them mentioned offhandedly how any time they saw the night sky in all its beauty, they would get an existential crisis, so they were really glad they live in a big city.
As someone who’s aligned with the Infinite (though not an avatar— not yet), I was shocked. I knew some people are terrified by its scale, I myself experience that fear anytime I get near the ocean, but to hear someone say that about space? Something that has only ever brought me comfort, that drew me to the Vast in the first place?
I wanted to Show her. For a moment, I really wanted to push her in. Of course, not into space itself, but something like a massive field at night, where you feel you need to hold onto the ground to not fall Up.
I mean, I didn’t do it, for a long list of reasons, but one of those was this thought that felt out of place in my head, that she “wasn’t ready yet.” I don’t know what this means, but I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it whenever I have the time.
I don’t want to hurt my friend, but I want her to see what I see, feel the overwhelming rush of Infinity itself, and get the same joy that I do.
I don’t know what to do. I’m hoping this feeling goes away before my trip to the grand canyon, because I don’t want to do something I’ll regret.
Most avatars are cruel; it seems necessary, to serve something so horrible as Fear itself. But not all are. Some glimpsed something so beautiful, so meaningful, yet that everyone else seems to want to avert their eyes from. They spend their life trying to show these people, not to hurt them, only so they too can see that beauty.
Of course, the result is the same for those they try to share with. They’re not ready yet. It’s easy to become a monster not because you don’t care for others, but because you really think you know what’s best for them.
Good luck with your self control:)
#well. that explains a lot i suppose!#what can i say the true scale of the universe is just. such incredible knowledge#and i wish more people could experience it#could know it#could see it#could feel it#feel the stars rush past and the galaxies get smaller and smaller until they're barely even specks in the distance#and then look up and be dwarfed by quarks that seem so incredibly huge you can barely see them#because the truth is that the universe doesn't have an edge#it just keeps looping in on itself forever#and i think that's beautiful#sorry got a bit off topic there!#i should look more into avatars and fear#i think it would help explain the results of my research

We found each other in the cosmos, and that was wonderful.

Of course! Terribly sorry for the wait, technology hasn’t been working too well for me recently haha
Right now I'm looking into… well, me! I had a rather interesting encounter a while ago and it left me with some truly beautiful knowledge about the universe. However, when I try to share it with people their heads have a tendency to. Well. Let's just say that most people can’t fit the true scale of the universe in their heads.
It’s like trying to fill up a bag that doesn’t have enough space in it. Best case scenario, you can't fit it in and the subjects just show some standard catatonia symptoms for a couple of hours before returning to baseline, other times things spill out and the subjects experience short and/or long term memory loss, and worst case, the bag ruptures and then i have to clean blood off of the floor of my lab again. Blood stains are very annoying to clean up, I should really- oh. I’m getting off track again! Apologies, my mind tends to wander! I guess you could say I space out!
Anyway, I'm looking into the most effective methods to share my glorious knowledge of the ever-expanding cosmos and its true nature! My lab partner has a knack for choosing subjects that give interesting survey results, even if they tend to get quite off topic (they keep asking me to “let them go” like they didn’t come to my lab of their own free will, it’s pretty weird!)
I’m still not quite sure what’s happened to me, but I’ve definitely noticed an interesting overlap in my current experiences and the experiences of people who are more receptive to the true beauty and scale of the universe, which I can also elaborate on if you want! Mostly just a tendency to want to find out the secrets of the universe, a propensity for staring at the night sky, and a fascination with cells and atoms and such! The subjects who survive also report similar sleep cycle disruptions and a similar need to share their new view! It’s very interesting! I would publish it if my credentials hadn’t been taken away by the board :(

#i'm afraid i don't have it easily accessible as of now#but when i have typed it up i can share it if you are interested!#though that might take a while#my mind tends to wander haha

fucking gotem lmao
#this but with the true scale of the universe#it's sad to me how some of you will never be able to experience it for long#but since all the subjects i've tested had a look of what i can only describe as horrified awe on their face when they saw it all#(in the few seconds before they collapsed at least)#then i'm still showing them and giving them the same gift i was given#so you win some you lose some ig#either way it's all valuable data

Perhaps the most-terrifying space photograph around.

Astronaut Bruce McCandless II floats untethered away from the safety of the space shuttle, with nothing but his Manned Maneuvering Unit keeping him alive. The first person in history to do so.
