tip #21 fraud doesn’t pay off. Don’t make business arrangements unless you know the person you’re dealing with beforehand, and always look up public record to check for prior fraud / foul play
Construction revenge ten years in making and why I will never have another business partner.
Long story. TL:DR at bottom.
A little over ten years ago, when I was a young carpenter, I met a guy who I’ll call “chad” because f*ck chad.
Chad was a new hire by the company I was working for, and became my helper. We got along famously even though he was 10 years older than me, he didn’t mind working under a 23 year old carpenter as an apprentice.
Chad and I had worked together for 6 months when he brought up the idea of starting a business together, he figured between the two of us, we could easily run a crew and build houses.

tip #19 there are people out there that are willing to KILL just to get a boosts in ratings. Don’t do it for the vine, it’s better to be safe than sorry, be wary of who you hang out with and don’t hang out with the type of people that poison their friends and family for insurance money

tip #16 if a number you don’t recognize calls you, look it up on one of many call-scam directories online and block it if you suspect foul play. NPR gives a good explanation on phone scams in this article

tip #15 buying phones and reselling them on the market with stolen money is a common practice for laundering money. Don’t fall for it or you may end up with a bricked phone that gets locked by the carrier weeks later

tip #12 don’t assume that people of authority who “should” be doing the right things with your information are, the best scams are the ones that seem legitimate
More than one hundred charged with Social Security fraud in NY
80 retired police officers and firefighters from the New York Police and Fire Departments have been charged with running one of the largest Social Security disability schemes in history; one that allegedly cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars.
106 people have been charged in all, in a 205-count indictment that was filed on Tuesday. An 83-year-old former F.B.I agent turned lawyer and a 61-year-old representative of the union for NYPD detectives were also among those charged. source

tip #11 you can charge $1300 at dollar general, just don’t do it with someone else’s cards
Sorry sir your card has been declined…
Went out to dinner with the wife tonight, had a wonderful time (20oz bone in prime rib rare!). Afterwards while paying the bill the waitress came back and informed me my credit card has been declined. No bid deal I just handed her another one which ran no problem. I knew it was nowhere near being maxed because it has a pretty high limit and gets paid in full monthly. When I came home I checked my voicemail and yup Chase Fraud Services left a message. I immediately called them and they informed me unusual activity had occurred so they declined that transaction and shut it down. Turns out someone about 1000 miles from me tried to charge over $1300 at a Dollar General. Let me repeat that over $1300 at a “DOLLAR GENERAL”, according to my limited math skills THAT WOULD BE 1300+ ITEMS LMAO!!!
To wrap it all up I really like Chase credit card services, I do a lot of business online and this isn’t the first time someone has swiped my card number but they have caught it every time and taken care of everything for me. Thanks Chase your ok.

tip #9 ALWAYS be wary of who gets your information. This isn’t the first time i send this tip, and it shouldn’t be. Most fraud comes back to this. Here is another modern scam that many people fall for.

If you have 9 minutes of your life to spare, (which you most likely do if you’re on tumblr procrastinating your homework) I would suggest watching this video. It breaks down chip and pin fraud, and various methods that have been existed from the start and up and coming scams. It is delivered by one of the initial developers of the technology.
