Celebrating Memorial Day 🇺🇸 by trying a new breakfast recipe and eating in. ⠀ @davidlebovitz had an awesome Croque monsieur post this morning that I could not resist. ⠀ Made some substitutions based on what we had in the house, but my first time ever Trying Croque monsieur went great! It was easy and fricken delicious. Google “David Lebovitz croque monsieur” and you’ll find it. ⠀ My substitutions: replaced whole milk with almond milk, ham with bacon, and used basic cheddar (next time I’ll try gruyere 🧀). ⠀ Enjoy your Memorial Day ya’ll. New blinds this weekend!! (Before and after shots) 💯 ⠀ A previous owner made an admirable attempt at DIYing their own shade out of a busted blind. We were not fans. Sometimes, I hate to say it, but it’s better to NOT do something yourself. ⠀ This weekend, we finally got our new blinds and installed them! ⠀ If you can do something well, do it yourself. If you can learn something new, learn it. If you can’t do either, be honest with yourself and pay for it. Just be smart about it. We waited for a significant discount, chose carefully, and installed these awesome wood blinds (easily) by ourselves. FINALLY got around to power washing our patio. 💦 🧱 ⠀ We were lucky to purchase a home with a nice patio already laid. But it’s always been grubby (at best). ⠀ With social distancing and the blessedly warming weather of Minnesota, I really wanted to make the most of our outdoor space. ⠀ So, I borrowed a power washer (free) and finally did the deed, figuring it would be a great low-cost way to improve our surroundings. ⠀ The caked-on grime and lichen smelled like swamp ass. And by the end I started looking like Swamp Thing 🧟‍♂️ but DAMN!
