Pushing aside the fact that I am, quite possibly, a Kendrick fan—disregarding my biases, I think Drake needs to stop. Push Ups was a good diss. Surface level, vapid, but it possessed that mean, petty spirit that carries a diss track all the way. Even bringing up accusations that are, realistically speaking, unlikely still works because a diss is supposed to show just how much you hate a person and how cleverly you can bring it.

Taylor Made was weird. I get that it was a strategy. Drop the main diss first and then drop this one to really prod at Kendrick. Using Pac and Snoop AI voices sucks though. Distilling Kendrick as Taylor's underling also doesn't work because Kendrick only collaborated with her once (twice when they remade Bad Blood) and that's it. Meanwhile Drake is out here always looking for new, up and coming artists to pounce on their trends or cling to established artists. Then it got taken down, because of course it would have been. You used 2Pac's voice. Did you really think his estate, his family, wouldn't do anything?

So he bought Pac's ring and used his voice without permission. More and more we see just how much of a vulture Drake is.

And then Euphoria drops.

Your first diss was met with solid reactions. Your second got taken down. Kendrick drops on a random hot Tuesday, and in a matter of hours surpasses your numbers that took weeks to accumulate. Kendrick did that. Euphoria was also harsh, clever, and sounded so good that people kept replaying it over and over again. Once more, Kendrick schools you.

A few insiders then say that Drake will drop that night. Right after. But he then allegedly gets cold feet. A few hours later from when Drake was supposedly ready to drop but backs out, Kendrick drops 6:16 in LA.

In your previous disses, you begged Kendrick to drop something with quintuple entendres. Euphoria did that. But he took it a step further by naming his second diss 6:16 in LA.

June 16: Father's day. Referencing the fact that Drake has been proven to be a deadbeat father.

June 16, 1971: Tupac's Birthday. Kendrick idolizes him. Drake steals from him.

June 16, 2019: First episode of Euphoria drops. A show Drake is listed as a producer on. A show about underage girls entering a life of sex, substance abuse, and more. Things that Drake has been accused of repeatedly in the past.

June 16, 2011: in June 2, 2011, Kendrick posted on his twitter that there will be a concert at Toronto on 6/16. Allegedly this is where Drake and Kendrick first met.

6:16 AM: The time of release for this track.

6:16: Multiple possible Bible verses, given Kendrick's Christian background.

Other claims felt like reaches though, so I'll stick to that.

The final two lines of 6:16 also reference the Michael Jackson, R. Kelly, and their song "You Are Not Alone". Drake, who has always claimed he is Michael Jackson or at the very least his equal/successor, is now tied to him in a way he does not want. Because we know all of the dirt that came out after MJ's death. We all know what R. Kelly was sent to prison for. And we all know what Drake has been accused of multiple times.

Kendrick also alludes to the fact that you have a leak in your circle, Drake.

So Drake drops Family Matters. A scathing 7 minute song that makes fun of the GKMC van. Saying that Kendrick's daughter isn't his. Saying that his wife cheats on him with security. Saying that he beats his wife.

Now, these are enormous accusations levied. But Kendrick has responded before, years ago, that the DV accusations were false. He has also always been open about his faults. Adultery. Sex addiction. Insecurity. God complex. Kendrick, for better or worse, has always laid out nearly every aspect of his younger life on his songs. This also helped by the fact that in both Euphoria and 6:16, Kendrick says that Drake has spent millions on finding dirt on him but came up with nothing. Again, these accusations can still be proven true and if so, Kendrick needs to be held accountable for them.

But if not? Then Drake just adds another to the pile of "He's a liar and a master manipulator."

Drake also posts a Parody on his Insta that gains little to no attention because 30 minutes after dropping Family Matters and supposedly going on his victory lap, Kendrick drops meet the grahams.

Another thing. 6:16's cover was a glove. That meant nothing to us, the audience. meet the grahams makes it make sense by zooming out of the glove and showing off a shirt and drugs that Drake supposedly uses. Drake has not had any receipts with his accusations against Kendrick. Kendrick puts Drake's supposed prescription, his full name, on a bottle of Ozempic. Kendrick, for now, seems to make good on his threat. OvO, Drake's company, is full of leaks. And they're leaking it straight to Kendrick Lamar.

Nearly 24 hours later, Kendrick drops Not Like Us.

Euphoria was a general character dissection and assassination of Drake: Insecure about his identity as a biracial man. Culture Vulture. Blaccent user. Code switcher. Fake abs. Womanizer. Misogynist. Using black features just to feel black enough. A deadbeat dad that knows nothing of raising a child. And even revokes Drake's ability to use the N-Word (I have no stake in that I am Asian so I will keep my brown mouth shut for that).

6:16 in LA was an ominous threat that slowly reveals that Kendrick has insider information on Drake. That he is ready to leak so much more should Drake continue.

meet the grahams is a brutal open letter to Drake, his parents, and even to Adonis, Drake's son. Saying that Kendrick could be a better mentor to Adonis. Saying that Drake abandoned you and that's not your fault. Don't be like your father—whatever anyone says, for better or worse, you are a black man and don't code switch just to make yourself feel better. He says that Drake failed his mother for what he did to women. Saying that Drake's father is the cause of his gambling issues. Drake is a body shamer. Leaving the mother of his children to rot. And of course, the reveal that Drake has a secret daughter, the same way Pusha T revealed Drake has a son. Adonis.

And of course, now. Not Like Us. Where Kendrick goes all in on one topic that he has alluded to in every diss track before. Drake is a groomer. A pedophile.

I am sick. I should not be tuning into this beef. But my fever can go ahead and end me, I need to know how this ends.

I think it's a pretty good choice to skip over Li Xun's time in prison both because the details are not story relevant and because cdrama that can show even vaguely realistic prison condition has not yet been made. But we know it's been bad and between prison, the destroying betrayal of the person he trusted, his having no family left and having set his relationship on fire in a fashion that he doesn't even consider can be recovered, the man who is released is a dead eyed barely opening his mouth person with the intensity of unsheathed sword.

I mean, even as he speaks (and he barely does, as if each word is expensive), he barely even opens his mouth. Dude has turned into a stone. Compare and contrast:

He went from an expressive puppy, with every emotion written on his face to a rock.

This was glorious btw:

The way FZJ freaks! But also, Gao invited FZJ as one of the mains into the company - the man who LX holds responsible for the death of his sister (well until Gao's little jail visit after which he holds them both responsible) - this is the man he took to run the company he stole from LX. It's like he's spitting into LX's face every way he can. He isn't even a good thief! The only way he got the company was because LX signed it over and it was because LX doesn't have people skills and was a bad judge of character, Gao was not diabolically clever at manipulation or anything. And he stole it and perverted it and no matter how he boasts, it will never be his and a part of him is screaming that at him day and night in the back of his head (watching him give ZY a tour and boast boast boast is as if he's trying to fill an enormous hole in him but the hole has a sieve at the bottom so it's never enough.)

Side note, I totally get why LX fixates on getting the company back and not love - not only is he convinced that after what he pulled he can't and shouldn't get his princess back (unlike Gao, he is pretty clear on what behavior has what deserved consequences), but to leave it in Gao's hands would be unjust - unjust to him and to his sister.

Excuse MEEEEEEEEEEE. He's delusional the way only SMLs are in costume dramas, this is impressive! But horrifyingly realistic. Nobody likes to be a weak envious villain in their own minds.

Zhu Yun not mixing words is glorious (she was never afraid of confrontation however ladylike she was; at their base, despite their differences, both LX and her are steel but also are secure in themselves and what they view as right - that is why for LX Gao's betrayal and for her LX's seeming betrayal hit them so hard - it went against their fundamental sense of self) but also just shows how a just and right moral compass a person she is. She does not know Li Xun lied his ass off to save her from trying to tie her life to a man who was gonna likely spend a decade in prison. At this point, Li Xun is a man who let her chase him because he enjoyed the thought of showing up her mother and for connections in the industry and dumped her the moment he realized his ambitions would not go far with her family.

And yet, she fully jumps at his defense here, once she realizes Gao stole the company. She believes Li Xun wronged her. She has no plans to get back together with Li Xun. Any feelings she has for him she buried so deep I don't think she even realizes they are there. She doesn't even have plans to see him again. But none of this has to do with the fact that it is WRONG to steal a man's company from him in the most disgusting way. She can separate personal hurt from what is just. (And also unlike Gao, can follow both cause and effect AND proportionality; not only is theft of his dreamed of company has no connection with his being a user boyfriend and she can't find former OK because he supposedly was the latter, but PROPORTIONALITY! He's more than expiated any sin of being a user and dumping her rudely by three years of hard jail time! She doesn't hold a grudge any more since she's not a psycho.)

I do wonder how on earth Li Xun will ever trust anyone again after he's out of jail. He barely did before and then he mellowed and let people in and had barely a few years of normalcy only for all of that disaster and betrayal to happen.

So I'm gonna start Stay With Me this week. Things about it:

It's based on the same story as Addicted from what I know. Addicted was a cdrama that was spicy, let's say, I haven't watched that yet (unfortunately) but I have heard about it that Addicted was pretty Overtly BL for a cdrama and had issues with scenes cut/censoring for being as overtly explicit as it was. It was around the same time as Advanced Bravely, which snuck in a full "I love you" but that scene was cut after initial airing, and Advanced Bravely was ended early due to being So Overtly BL.

So right after those type cdrama BL? BL in cdramas turned more into "censored bl bromance." Which could lean anywhere from "this is just regular queer romance just no kissing/sex on screen" a la Guardian and Word of Honor, to "you can't distinctly tell if they meant for it to be queer-but-passed-censorship or just friendship amplified actual bromance" (which I guess would be My Roommate is a Detective, and LORD Critical World type - it's easier to call it actually Only Bromance if there's a canonical guy/girl ship), to "this was based on a queer novel but if I didn't know that I wouldn't realize it was romance" (which I have not personally subjected myself to watching but I'm sure it exists). Most shows did not go as Overt as Addicted and Advance Bravely any more.

I've seen people mention they haven't seen a BL as overt as Stay with Me since The Untamed. While 1 this is nice, I'm also curious if it's actually portraying closer to the even More Overtly BLs from slightly before The Untamed (such as Addicted). So that'll be interesting to see.

And 2 I promise there's a few other dramas As Overtly BL or more than The Untamed, they just aren't brand new (since the past year has been very lacking in censored bl cdramas). But if you aim for Word of Honor airing period or before that, you should be able to find some. As for post Word of Honor? The most likely thing you'll find are shows where if the bromance is strong, you likely cannot quite decide if the show intended only Intense Friendship (bromance) or censored intentional queer romance. (I haven't finished these shows so take me with a grain of salt but Pledge of Allegiance, A League of Nobleman, Desire Catcher, and the new Mysterious Lotus Casebook all are likely to fall in this zone).

So anyway, seeing a show actually adapted FROM a BL where we can be totally sure it IS meant to be BL, being as overtly explicit as it can push to be? Nice to see. Nice to see Stay with Me existing. I'm excited.

The guide includes a show’s basic summary; main genres/tropes/themes and official streaming links (additional info on how to watch at the end of this post)! You can find some content warnings in the reply section of this post. Shows are listed by countries, numbered by the order I recommend watching in, not by rating. All shows have happy endings unless specified otherwise. The list will hopefully be updated regularly (last updated on 04/04/2024, 98 queer shows in total).

Most shows are about mlm, I specify with coloured notes those that are focused on wlw, polyamory, aromantism/asexuality, etc.

He learns Black was a part of a gang of anti-capitalist freedom fighters, and it was one of them who betrayed him. White disguises himself as Black to discover which one of them betrayed him and put him in a coma.

Ongsa moves to a new school and meets Sun, a cute popular girl who she immediately falls for. However, she decides to approach Sun in instagram dms under the pseudonym Earth, leading Sun to believe she's talking to a guy. But Ongsa does not want to lose the opportunity to talk to Sun, so she decides to keep the fact that she is a girl a secret and continue talking as Earth.

Salaryman Yutaka finds it difficult to share meals with other people. However, his life starts to change when one day, his cooking attracts the attention of a young boy named Tane and his older brother Minoru. The two brothers are impressed by Yutaka's cooking skill and invite him to their house to cook together. Yutaka's dreary life begins to change, and soon he finds himself looking forward to the meals he shares with the Ueda siblings together, as well as developing a taste for romantic feelings.

Most chinese shows are adapted from explicitly queer novels, the shows are undeniably and obviously queer, but nevertheless the queer romance part is censured. The only exception is number 4 on the list, it is not censored.

1. The Untamed period drama; fantasy

An epic fantasy led by a problem child who comes back from the dead 16 years later in order to fix the broken world he left behind — and finally unite with his soulmate.

2. Word of Honor period drama; fantasy

The leader of assassin organisation Zhou Zishu quits his position in pursuit of freedom with drastic measures. In his travels, he meets Wen Kexing, the leader of Ghost Valley who wants nothing but revenge. The two become entangled in various machinations within the martial arts world, and eventually become soulmates instrumental in each other's redemption.

Su Yu is a high school student who lives with his single poor father. Su Yu gets a new classmate Wu Bi. The two clash right from the start, and after getting off on the wrong foot, their explosive relationship takes a turn.

5. The Spirealm inside of a video game; mystery; fantasy; horror-ish; hopeful ending

A game designer Lin Qiushi is transported inside of a game he recently played, and now he must go through 12 horrifying survivor game doors to survive in the real world. Inside his first door he meets Ruan Nanzhu, a mysterious man who offers him to team up.
